Just because you're not getting one for 12th place doesn't mean you need to rain on the parade.
I'm happy with my participation trophy! (and I get a check of over $9,000 every week from SDS for being on the practice squad) lol

I want to say Bates has lined up in that spot last season?
I don't remember Bates lining up as an eligible receiver, but maybe you're right. Whoever it is, they have to be able to catch the ball on the rare occasion it is thrown to them. Brown maybe?

This is truly the age of "we hand out 11th place ribbons and everyone gets a participation trophy". We all know who the true all-stars and HOF'ers are on this site. Do we really need an icon to tell us who they are?
-
Maybe instead of having a big 'ol blocking TE like Lee Smith on the roster, we use one of our big rookies in a tackle-eligible short yardage package? I would love to see that more but we really don't do it much.

Hey since when do we allow OP's to present reasoned analyses backed up by facts on this site? Where are the mods when you need them? Seriously OP, I really appreciate the work you put into this and the presentation! A lot of folks had the same negative reaction to yesterday's post about McDermott not being a good coach against rookie QB's, but you're the only one who went out and did the work to disprove the lie. Kudos to you!

I think the next poster who suggests we should trade Trubisky should be sent to IR for a few weeks. We're not trading Trubisky. Our objective is the Super Bowl and you don't risk achieving that objective for a pick in next year's draft. You have to have a backup QB who can step in and win.

we should taken a flyer on him as Mitch will be gone next year
what would you do with him? Take up a roster spot as the 3rd QB or put him on the PS? There's no way you could put him on the PS and keep him and there is no way Beane is going to waste a roster spot on a 3rd QB this year. We have plenty of time to deal with backup situation after this season.

What kind of thermometer we talking? 😯
And are we taking the temperature orally, rectally or with one of those forehead scanners? Makes a big difference in my opinion, but any way you do it I'm predicting the Bills in a solid win before a rocking home crowd. Steelers' O-line will have at least 3 false start penalties because of the noise!

What really doesn't make sense is according to tvguide.com the Syracuse ABC affiliate is showing "Paid Programming" at 1pm this Saturday and then showing the Bills game at 7pm on tape delay again.
WTF is that all about?
Unbelievable. I don't get it either. WSYR thinks Bills fans would rather watch German soccer or used car commercials. I guess it means you and I have to stay off TBD until about 10 pm Saturday night so we can pretend we're watching the game live.

There's a picture of him sitting in his car/MRI machine posted to the instagrams.
I didn't know Lil Dirty was an inventor too. What a great idea, an MRI right inside a car so that if you get into an accident you can immediately find out what your injuries are!

Because they are broadcast locally (CBS-Ch 4 in Bflo), it is blacked-out on the NFL Network.
Excerpt:
An important note here is that these live games are subject to blackouts in the local area TV markets. That would mean, for instance, that a local network affiliate in Buffalo could broadcast the game and prevent the NFL Network show from airing at the same time. As always, this works out fine in theory, but it could put places like Rochester and Syracuse into the possible position of being blacked out but not having a local TV broadcast to watch instead.I think that is exactly what is happening in Upstate NY. And it's weird that the local ABC affiliate in Syracuse apparently thought that more people in Syracuse would rather watch a German soccer game. There's a huge number of Bills fans in the Cuse. But it doesn't explain why it is happening to viewers outside of NY, such as the comments above from NJ, CT and SoCal. Thankfully this won't be happening in the regular season.

According to the Spectrum guide, the Bills v Bears game is supposed to be on tomorrow at 1 pm. Of course we don't know what the NFLN will actually broadcast.
I saw that too and set it to record to see if it's really on. It's interesting that of the people who responded to this some have gotten the actual Bills game shown on the guide and others have not. Weird that there is such an inconsistent experience.
-
The Bills website says the game was shown regionally on local channels but here in the Cuse it was not. It's interesting that in SoCal and NJ you're having the same issue with the guide saying it's on the NFL Network but another game is being shown. Anyone have a phone number for NFL Network so we can B word about it?
-
Exactly! Happened last Saturday too. Wonder what's going on at the NFL Network. I might have to start a new "the NFL is out to get the Bills and Bills fans" conspiracy theory.
Just now, EmotionallyUnstable said:Just a guess here, but have they been broadcast on local networks? If so, it’s possible that you aren’t getting the schedule games because they are available elsewhere.
Nope, wasn't on locally either and not tonight either.
-
Has anyone else in Upstate New York (or specifically in Syracuse) had a problem with the first two preseason games not being on the NFL Network? For each of the first two games and tonight's replay of Bills at Bears, Spectrum's channel guide shows the Bills being on but the actual game being shown is another game. WTF! Called Spectrum and they said it's a network issue and have no other complaints about it.

Yolo, do you know whether Harbaugh hit on his mom at said "sleepover" while he was there? lol

Mac Jones will be the starter by week 3 and, I hate to say it, he will be better than most of us expect. He has the intelligence, discipline and just enough arm to run the kind of offense they want to run this year. But the Cheatriots are not built to get into a shoot out with anyone so their D better be exceptional.

I'm always confused why fans of the same team would fight in their home stadium.
The same reason why there are civil wars in countries, I guess. There are always some people who focus on the differences between us instead of the things we have in common.

Even though the Bills have never really been a consideration, a show like Hard Knocks would do well for a small market team. Winning also helps, but whatever else can put a team on national television will always be an asset for growing a fanbase.
I disagree. I don't think a show like Hard Knocks does much to grow a fan base. Winning, and specifically winning the SB, grows your fan base. Hard Knocks had Cinci and Cleveland on in recent past and I doubt it helped grow their fan base. I also don't think the show has a large viewership. A lot of folks on TBD, who are huge football fans, don't even watch it. More often than not, the "peek behind the curtains" of Hard Knocks probably does more to make a viewer dislike the team.

Indeed, Hue showed what a horrible leader he was that season. I'm just glad we didn't name him HC as remember being in his corner with Schwartz as DC back in the day.
Having seen the Jets on Hard Knocks with Rex (which has some classic scenes in it) I couldn't believe we hired him. Any intelligent person who did his due diligence on Rex would have watched those episodes and would have come away with a "there's no way this guy can lead an NFL team". I had the same thoughts about Hue after watching the Browns season and about Joe Philbin after watching the Dolphins season. This show, which has become somewhat trite and boring, does a great job at showing the head coach for what he really is, warts and all.

My take on the first episode...
1.That was a weird segment where you had the Dallas ST coach talking to his players about his vasectomy. What the heck!

Perhaps it's my anti-Cowboy bias but I just don't see Romo as a HOFer.
I share the same bias, but perhaps it's also remembering him botching a hold on a potentially game-winning kick in a playoff game against Seattle, but I don't see him as a HOFer. He does get a free pass into the Punter's Hall of Fame, though, because they all get to hold for kicks now because of him.
