We are almost being spoiled by this team.  It seems almost every week the Bills are setting some sort of NFL historical record, breaking a franchise record or doing something that only a handful, or less, teams in the history of the NFL have done.

In this case, the Bills set a new record for longest scrimmage play in the first 90 seconds of a game with Davis' 98 yard TD pass and averaged an absurd 10.22 yards per play, the 6th highest total in NFL history, and the highest since the 2017 Chiefs averaged over 10.3 yards per play against the Jets.

10.22 yards per play is ridiculous. We've come a long way and it's about time we can do this stuff.

I just find some of these records laughable. I'm sure there'll be a 97 yard TD by another team and it'll be the longest in the first 89 seconds of a game. Stats can be made to fit any narrative. Nothing against OP here, great to know this stuff and toot our own horns, just find some of the stats the talking heads push laughable.

No mention has been made about the Hard Rock Oven effect. The Bills offense spent 40+ mins in that heat. So did the Dolphins D, but they only had til Thursday to recover and looked tired vs Cincinnati. The Bills had a whole week. But Josh still felt like crap until Friday (to say nothing of other players)...and it took the offense a quarter and a half to shake it all off yesterday. It's fine to leave it alone until you start ragging on the early offensive performance vs. the Ravens.

I'm genuinely curious, was this actually said? and by who?

You mean except when he comes up to make a tackle on a run play and acts as the edge setting defender and then let's the RB bounce outside him for 15 yards and a first down?

yea, was in great position but got absorbed. A little film review and some more experience will clean this up.

  4. Lets just hold Allen accountable for designing the offense too. We have no idea what the play call is, there could be pulling lineman to that side, fullbacks/tightends, receivers downblocking certain players. We could be out of position like that play where Gabe Davis was supposed to crack the safety or whoever and was too far outside that he couldnt get there. Realistically, there are probably only a few plays Allen can check to based on the situation.

I fault Allen 0%. The coaching staff should be telling Allen what to do when he sees certain looks and should be practicing that.

    - Davis played 30% more snaps than Diggs, and may already be the Bills' de facto #1 WR. If he's not there yet, I predict he will be by season's end.

Davis played more because he's included in that jumbo package that we ran a few times last night (ie his TD catch). Also, wr's come out after being targeted or make a catch (most of the time). Diggs saw more targets and had more catches which distort the snap count.

Don't get me wrong, Davis is great but he won't be our #1 as long as Diggs is here.

Let me preface this by saying I love Stefon Diggs.  This is not an advocation to move on from him.  But my question stems from the fact that 2 other teams (GB and KC) with an Ellie QB have moved on from there true #1 WR’s.  If this season plays out well for them will this be a trend?

Dont think so. KC knew they couldnt afford Hill, or at least didnt want to make him the highest paid WR. Adams wanted out from GB. Both teams thought it best to get some sort of value instead of letting them walk or them go full diva mode (aimed at Tyreek, dont think Adams would cause a lot of issues but who knows). I'm sure they would love to have kept them and have that alpha instead of who they have now. KC tried to replace Hill with JuJu which tells me theyre looking for elite talent at the position. GB drafted multiple wr's to try and recoup some of Adams' production.

At this point, nobody should be voting for Josh Allen above Pat Mahomes.

Hate to say it, but our guy doesn't have an MVP or a Super Bowl.

You need to put Qbs in front of him who DO have those credentials and similar impact on the game.

    My personal list:

    1 Pat Mahomes

    2 Aaron Rodgers

    3 Aaron Donald

    4 Josh Allen

    5 TJ Watt

    6 Myles Garrett

    7 Travis Kelce

    8 Cooper Kupp

    9 Derrick Henry

    10 Jalen Ramsey

Donald was #2 and #3 in the past 2 years and didnt have a superbowl until last year. Impact on the game is what's measured, not accolades.

I think with a new majority public financed stadium and NFL franchise valuations skyrocketing, the Pegulas have no excuses in terms of paying players.  I bet their $1.4b investment is worth at least $3b today with a new stadium on horizon and Broncos selling for $4.5b.

All relies on cash on hand though. Investment value doesnt translate to immediate cash flow - they'd have to sell the investment for that to happen unless they want to leverage against it. I have no idea their cash flow but my guess is most of it is tied up in other things, hence the challenge for smaller market teams to do what the rams do.

I don’t think mahomes would look as good here as he does in kc…he seems to really lock on to hill and Kelce for better or worse and we really don’t have any absolute freak athletes at skill positions like that.

I agree, but think it's due to coaching. I'm a big believer that coaching has everything to do with a player's success and think Mahomes is the perfect match for Reid's offense. Put him anywhere else and I think he's a solid, but not great, player.

I find it hard to believe they do not discuss things before kicking off,  are to believe that during the season when Bass did those pop up kick offs that other players did not know. I am sure special teams captain and kicker are talking about which side he will be kicking it,  this non answer Sean offers is another way go covering for his conservative coaching.  Just admit you were worried about a possible second Music city miracle and this is why Bass took 7 yard sunup and blasted it through the end zone.

I agree the coverage team knew when bass was going to kick short during the season and when he was going to kick it out. But, regardless of what was happening, they had to cover b/c of the chance it's actually shorter than planned or the returner takes it out, which is why it's not as important to convey the kick plan to the coverage team. Bass is really the only person that absolutely needed to know. I think they were worried Hill might be back there and wouldnt be able to stop him, hence the touchback.

  11. If there was any miscommunication, it's absolutely on the coaches. It's their job to call the play and make sure everyone knows their role. If bass was off to the side, every coach should be talking to him. The coverage team's role is to fly down field regardless of whether or not its to be kicked out. They dont need to know its going to be dropped short, stay in their lanes and make a tackle, just like every other kick off. That's high school sh*t.

I...don't really want Cinci to beat KC.

    There. I said it.

I want KC to be afraid of one team, and one team only. The Bills.

I'm torn, KC is on the trajectory of the Pats so there's a growing hatred there but is it weird that I dont want cincy out of jealousy?

I'm still stunned and pissed by our loss last night but the one consistent that we have had most of the season is the lack of a pass rush. We have no one on our D-Line that neither strikes fear on the opposing team or a team will have to game plan around. We desperately need that person.

I vividly remember a few plays where our D-Line didnt even rush. They just stood there and barely moved. Literally could not believe my eyes. Someone is going to argue that they were gassed but isnt the point of the d-line rotation to keep guys fresh? Overall, thought the gameplan was atrocious. Daboll locked up a job, Frazier probably lost his.

Ive been doing the same since the Panthers. But not washing them. You can wash out the luck, don’t you know that?

I stopped getting QB jerseys last year. They’ve been unlucky forever. So I’ve been rolling with Tre. Finally for the Pats 2.0 game I threw on a JA17 jersey and been rolling ever since.

    You’re all welcome.

So you're the reason we lost Tre... I suspected someone's superstition was the cause of his demise

Yards do not tell the context of the atory.  Nice stats are Ok to compare to others but context and w/ L record is the bottom line. Losing qbs often have lots of garbage time yards as you know.   So really who cares about yards: but td to int ratio is important as it affects outcomes more directly and the past 2-3 games are concerning in that Josh has not been great throwing in the red zone ( running very well tho)  and his ints have been quite  regular and the  prior game he had 3.   So it’s just something you would rather NOT be seeing especially at home as you enter the playoffs.

The offense is having issues. Jets defensively we’re ranked 32nd.  Yet at half we had ONE td and several punts.  We recover against poor teams , but we are 0-5 in one possession games this year and playoff games are usually close!  We continue going  thru offensivev lulls , wasting possessions like getting NO POINTS after a blocked punt today.  We led by 7 at the half and Bill Cower thought that was bad having blocked a punt.Superficially  stats  seem fine but don’t tell the true story,   If we have first half’s like the last 2-3 games, score once then nothing until late3 rd or 4 th quarter , good teams may already have us playing from behind. I believe Josh has ZERO wins coming from behind this year!  So do that in the playoffs and his stats won’t matter.  That’s why people are analyzing or showing concern.  He’s here to win , not throw for the most yards!

The offense looked poor most of the game today.  We could all see and agree on that. Not sure why , but something is not clicking well. One series 3 passes sailed over everybody., that’s an issue before a playoff game regardless of todays W !   Daboll continues to go away from something that’s working and again in the wind , chose to mostly abandoned the run. Josh ran well but so was motor and Daboll will not stick with it.  This is a. Pretty talented team. Hate to see a stubborn. OC cost us another year because he is poor.at in game adaptation. That is hard to see just looking at stats !

Agree with most of this. We need to get away from looking purely at stats and include context - garbage time stats is a great example of how yards could be skewed. Another example is how Josh threw 3 picks last week and everyone is saying how careless he is with the ball. One of the announcers yesterday actually added that 2 of those balls were tipped - granted, Josh takes some of the blame, but it was just 2 bad bounces. You could even look at Jameis Winston 2 years ago when he threw for over 5,000 yards and 30td but had 30 picks with most of his good stats coming in garbage time.

With that said, we didn't have really any garbage time games where numbers were inflated so you really have to recognize Josh is doing something special. 10,000 yards and 80 td's in 2 seasons truly is great.

Offense is definitely struggling. But again, even with our struggles, we're putting up 25+ points. Regardless of how bad the opposing defense is, that's a positive. I'm hoping Daboll was calling it conservative today - no designed JA runs or Mackenzie sweeps that have been implemented in the past few weeks. Things will open up this week in the playoffs.
