1. The wind was not a factor that day at all.  But since King made a point of introducing it as a major factor for coaches being pi&&ed at Bledsoe, at least he should have checked the facts.

My theory of the rat is Donahoe himself, aided by the coaching staff.  King zeroed in on three games where DB was absolutely pathetic, where a caual fan could observe that the defense & special teams didn't bail him out.  I can only imagine what the coaches dissecting in the post-game film room.

The reason I think the administration is trashing DB is the hard stance he took in his contract renegotiation last year.  To get a $8mil payday in '04, after a horrendous '03 was truly bizarre to me, and I'm sure it didn't sit well with Wilson as well.

I'm guessing that much of the sour grapes emanating from OBD are contract related, and people who spend $8mil on a bum, should have the right to quietly call the guy a bum :w00t:

Its just seems odd that all the important facts in this story are wrong. Becasue of this I can't really take the story seriously.

I don't doubt that Drew often felt the presure pull out the big play led to some of his problems, but I have never heard of him intentionally going over a coaches head in the 12 years he's been in the league.

Drew got old, his brain was writing check his arm was no longer able to cash. End of story. If the Bills were so upset with his character, why did MM and TD try so hard to get him to stay as a back up.

  2. The thing I found most amazing on that site was this little blurb.

"J.P put on a fourth-quarter clinic vs. Mississippi State to bring Tulane back from a 28-14 deficit. Completed 13-of-17 passes for 146 yards with two TD passes in the last 8:22 of the game and finished the game hitting 29-of-47 passes for 349 yards, four TDs and no INTs."

Talk about scolding hot!!!!  13-17 in just over 8 minutes with 2 TDs?

Think we could have counted on something like that from Drew in the clutch?

    246717

How about that Jets game in NY? I think Drew had two TDs in less time than that to get the Bills back in it. It was our top 5 D that blew that game.

  3. I am not how Bruschi's situation would afffect anything, but when all of these  Bledsoe "pay cut, back-up, or be cut" stuff started I was 100% sure that Bledsoe would look around the leauge, and figure that Bufffalo, either as back-up or chance to start, was still his best situtation.  I really believed that he would come back, or retire.  I am still not sure that won't be the case.  I really don't think that the Cowboys will go after him (incidently here in Cowboy country, rumour now has it thaty the 'Pokes are going to try to acquire Randy Moss!), and any other opportunity he might have, will surely be for an awful team.  Cleveland reamains, to  me, his one possible option, although I have heard nothing indicating that would indicate any interest from the Browns.

Has there ever been a situation, where a vetran, under contract, was cut, couldn't find a team, and came back, as free-agent?  I can't rmember one.  I would think the reason this doesn't happen, is that the team would not only have to sign the player to a new contract, but would also be taking the salary cap hit, of cutting him from his original contract.  I may be wrong, I never understand the salary cap crap!

    246645

When your buddy, whos younger than you has a serious mediacal condition, sometimes it causes you to think about whats really important.

Family etc. Not going throw all the hoops of finding a new team. keeping your kids in a school where they are happy. not getting the living day light beat out of you on a regular basis.

There are still two days before Drew could be cut. Even if he is, he could come back for the Vet minimum and would still be cheaper than most back ups while not effecting the cap.

  4. Drew Bledsoe is 2 and 0 in AFC Champ. games. He's won 4 play of games and had two long winning streaks to get his team in the play offs in 1994 and 1996. Won three games with pin intersted in his index finger to propell the patriots into the play offs- in 1998-- all of which were big games. To say he's never been able to win the big game is wrong

I just wonder if Joshh Reed does not get a Penalty late in the third against the Steelers, would DB still be the starting QB of the Bills. Bills would have 1st and goal, with a chance to go up by 8- knife in the heart of the Steelers.

For what its worth, I don't think Drew is the same player he was before he got hurt in NE. I can't remember any NFL player before has come back after losing two thirds of his blood. He took lots of shots and kept getting up. Broken fingers, concussions and near death experiences can take its toll on a QB.

Is till think he can play. I'd like to see what he would have done with one more year in MMs system. but I understand the move.

What bothers me is venim that people spew. Why is it so personal. Save it for the people who show no heart and no toughness.

  5. Anyone think coach Mike is nervous about cutting Bledsoe. I wonder if Mike told Drew he'd be back after the Pitt game and thats why Drew had the MY TEAM statement.

We seem to be getting news from two camps. One says the job is Losemans the other says the two can compete for the position. Which is it? If Drew thought he had an honest chance of winnig the job, I doubt he'd ask to be released, but when the owener says you've HAD a good career, the hand writing is on the wall.

  6. I think Drew is going to walk. No way at his age do you delegate to a backup role. While he's no where near being a top QB in this league he's a lot better than the QB's some teams are putting on the field.

I'm wishy washy on whether he should go or stay. Everyone seems to say "We've seen what he's done" but honestly could it be the coaching staff that was put around him prior to this year? This was the first winning season he had in Buffalo and let's face it he didn't exactly have the best coaches to work with. But, with that being said, now that he has better coaches perhaps they've seen something promising in JP to make this step.

The one thing I know is that TD is a marketing genius. The guy will manage to get us excited for the next year even if going in we really look like we are going to suck. And odds are if we start a rookie QB we aren't going to have a real good campaign in 2005.

Say what you want about Big Ben, but look at the aggregate results of rookie QB's starting.

    236858

Good Point abut the marketing genius. Did anyone notice the talk about JP being handed the starting job is coming out the same time as the season ticket re-ups.

Could it be a marketing tool.

    The old bate ans switch.

JP will be named the starter until training camp where they will say he's not ready, they are going with bledsoe.

  7. Parcells mess up his MO by being sucessful his first year with the Boyz. He usually starts off bad but has an upswing at the end of the season. Then gets all his ducks in a row for the second season. Unfortunately for him, he was so sucessful his first season, he didn't make all the changes he needed to fir his second season, if it aint broke....He was handcuffed into not making changes.

  8. We are heading to Glacier Nat'l Park in June for a family vacation, then heading to Idaho for a rafting trip.  Can't wait to get out there...

Any tips on Glacier?  Must see, etc.  We are staying in St. Mary for a couple of days.  Coming in an out of Missoula.  (We have friends in Missoula)

    225387

I've been to 8 parks in the last 3 years and Glacier is by far my favorite. If you aren't up for camping but want to rough it a bit, try the Granite Park Chalet. You have to hike to it. No runnig water, you need to bring your own food. No electricity in the rooms but main area is lit by gas. They also have a stove and they pump water for stuff like cooking. for an extra $10 they will give you bedding. The people I met thier were extreamly nice. It was amazing. The view was out of this world. if you want i can forward some photos.

I saw a bear and her baby hiking toward Grinnell Lake. They were standing on a little bidge I needed to cross, so I never quite made it. I fled even thoug I was pretty far away. Bring a camera with a good zoom. In my photo they came out like specs of dust.

Hopefully I'll head out again this summer-last week in June or first in July.

Make sure you hike out to hidden lake, and Iceberg lake, and swift current pass.

I always use Falcon Guides when trying to fiugre out what hikes to take.

the travel chnl. always runs a nice program on it a few times a year.

I hope to make out there again this year.

    Have fun!

  9. We could compare every high pick QB to JP . Know what it equals ? Nothing. Each individual is unique to himself.

I fully expect the Bills to bring in another Vet QB to compete with or back up JP. I have zero desire to keep Bledsoe around, since he has proven to play small in big games, despite being a 12 year VET. He makes FAR too many negative plays.

If it's JP and Jay Fiedler or some other VET, I'm fine with that. Just no more Drew. He's had his chance. He's done in Buffalo.

    223370

    What's Fiedler record in Dec?

How did he do against the PAts (9-7) in 2002-3 with a chance to take his team to the Play offs.

  10. Drew's won 2 AFC Champ. games (yes he play 2 and a half qts against Pitt so he gets the win). Thats two more than Payton. In 94 he took his team on a 5 game winning streak to get them into the playoffs. Similar situation in 96-97. Willed his team into the play offs with the a broken finger - three wins in a row, two against divisional rivals, one against conference rival- The steelers. I think Bills and Miami were all pretty good that year.

He's won pleanty of big games.

  11. [OK yours it from something called PAtsfan.com

This is from John Clayton Sept 29 th

The injury happened on a sideline play in which Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis was trying to tackle Bledsoe along the sidelines. Bledsoe tried to lean back to stay in bounds and make an extra yard or two (to make a first down). That move left his chest exposed to a hard hit from Lewis.

AP also reported he was being tackle from behind by Ellis. He was a few feet away from making a first down and doing whatever he could to get there. He certainly wasn't standing there like he didn't know a play was going on.

  12. not the play I am talking about.  I am talking about the play that literally almost killed Drew.  He suffered a punctured lung and had blood clots.  It was when Drew was a Patriot.  He was lollygagging down the sideline, could of stepped out at any time and was totally oblivious to the fact he was on a football field during a live play.  It was one of the dumbest plays I have ever seen on the football field.  Leon Lett dumb.  No doubt Drew is tough as nails and can take a hit.  He could avoid many of those big hits if he could make a quick read and get rid of the damn ball

    218906

He wasn't going anywhere because Shawn Ellis had him from behind.

  13. What was Vinnie Testaverdes wonderlic?  I would say not too high.  I have met Vinnie.  Very nice guy but not the sharpest tool in the shed.  Anyways Vinnies numbers are higher then Drews.  As far as being a football retard- I see it with my own eyes.  How many times a game do I scream "what the fug are you doing Drew?".  Definately makes lots of poor decisions.  After 12 years in the league he makes an awful lot of rookie mistakes.  He has zero football instincts.  How about when Mo Lewis almost killed Drew?  What the fug was Drew thinking on that play?  It looked like he was dreaming in lala land on a casual stroll.

    218889

He was trying to make a first down when his protection broke down. Doubt he was looking like he was in Lala lind becasue Shawn Ellis had him wrapped up from behind and wasn't able to protect himself or get out of bounds. Much of Drews prolems stem from taking risks rather than playing it safe. true he makes some mistakes but he' also made some remarkable plays by standing in there a few seconds longer and taking the hit.

  14. wow!  37 is off the charts!  Ben Watson had a 41 and highscore this year.  You are right- it doesnt translate on the field.  Bledsoe is a football retard

    218881

At 32 years old drew bledsoe is 198 yards shy of hitting 40,000 yards. 7th in all time passing yards. He's been to a SuperBowl, he's 3-4 in play offs games, he revitalized two NFL Franchises and has been to 4 Pro Bowls.

He might not be the Bills QB of the future, but I'd hardly call him a bust or a football retard.

  15. Actually if a player retires, his last team is entitled to request he pay back the unamortized portion of his signing bonus.  However rarely does this happen, and only when a player retires suddenly and/or acrimoniously (see: Barry Sanders and Ricky Williams) does the team go after the player for the money.

    212954

    What he said--

If the Bills were to ask for money back, I beleive Bledsoe could claim he retired of health reasons.

  16. I have a feeling Drew was the one who set the two week dead line to contemplate his retirement.

If Bledsoe retired, I believe he is still owed the same amount of money from the Bills that he would have recieved if he were cut. If the $4 mill was a signing bonus, its all his. Unlike Rickey Williams, who is in his prime and quit to do drugs, Bledsoe is a 12 year vet who has suffered severe injuires etc etc. Its reasonal that he retire. IF he retired and signed with another club, then he would owe the Bills the money back.
