none of this matters if Allen doesn't improve.

put up 1 TD against the 30th ranked pass defense, and that was a trick play. had plenty of time to throw today even on his last OT drive. he choked

Saying Allen choked is a bit harsh. Panicked at times may be more appropriate. He wasn't alone... OL needs help. DL couldn't get home and tackle when they needed to. Let's grow from this, draft well, and come back stronger!

    Go Bills!

  2. I've heard all the talk that our second year MLB is a physical freak with size and speed. My eyes, however, tell me he's not tough or instinctive enough to be a good MLB, let alone a great one. IMO Beane and McDermott need to take a serious look at this position in the off season and upgrade. Perhaps Edmonds is better suited for OLB? Fans can speculate but only the coaching staff can make an educated guess. So... is Tremaine Edmunds the answer at MLB?

Edmunds isnt used in that way by frazier...frazier is misusing talent and its sooo frustrating to see...frazier is asking his lbers to drop back into soft zones 8 to 10 yards downfield...like wtf

Frazier can't account for MLB Edmunds constantly mis-reading and missing tackles. Seems to me, he's lost out there and worse... plays soft. Not sure if he's an answer at one of the OLB spots but I've seen enough now to know he's not the answer at MLB.

Bad depth.  He was out of his league when he had to play LB.  Is a ST star that can be worked around. He seems like good, not great ST player.

Took unnecessary and untimely penalties. Below average when asked to play defence. Okay, not great ST... Depth signing.

Show Brady the tape of Alex Smith's and Joe Theisman's leg injuries and maybe that will help him make his decision to retire. Get out while your body is in one piece!

Brady gets the ball out faster than Smith, Theisman and almost every other QB playing the game today. That's why he'll continue to play until he can't. He's also uber competitive and despite his aw shucks demeanor will want to pad his HOF, GOAT status. It's fun to win (and, unfortunately, that's what Belichick and Pats organization does).

All it shows me is he is an ultra competitor like Brady and Brees, and like Peyton Manning was.  That is what you want in a QB imo.

I agree. I saw the interview in question with Baker Mayfield, and have seen numerous others. I don't think he was being a "doosh". He stated his opinion in a civil, but disapproving way, in the context of studying all week to beat the rival Bengals - knowing his former coach had joined the Browns' cross state rivals to use his knowledge to defeat the rookie QB.

Mayfield is ultra competitive (and talented). I watched most of the first half of the Browns win at Cincinatti. He was unbelievable - leading the Browns to 4 touchdowns in as many drives. Write it down, he is the next Drew Brees.

To watch this kid slowly turning into a franchise qb is amazing so this is how the  Steelers fans felt when they watched Big Ben as a rookie cause he’s a more athletic version of him

He is definitely the franchise quarterback the Bills have needed since Kelly. He needs some better weapons but they will get them. He reads defenses really well and has all the tools. He needs to work on his short pass game but that will come with time.  They drafted the right guy. He is a winner.

    Good win today.

Still a little early to anoint the kid as the Bills franchise QB. On the plus side: he's big, strong armed, and can run. On the "let's see" side: can he stay in the pocket when feeling pressure, dissect defences, thread the needle + throw receivers open. We should know better what we have after this season and into 2019.

    Go Bills...

  8. I think everyone agrees we need to develop Josh Allen to see what we have in him. The issue isn't whether to start him again, it's a matter of when! The original plan was to bring in AJ McCarron and have the kid learn for a year. That plan was dropped when AJ was jettisoned, Peterman fizzled and, in the absence of any other alternative, Allen started. This to rather predictable uneven results (for a rookie most have judged still very raw.)

Let's say JA is picked to start in two weeks against a tough Jaguars D and plays poorly. The hometown fans will be screaming for "Barkley" given his inaugural success. I don't believe that extra pressure will be good for the kid's development. (And he does need to develop: make quicker reads, stay longer in the pocket; improve his accuracy). Starting Barkley for another game or two, or until the veteran struggles, will benefit the kid in numerous ways. And allow the team, and offensive players in particular, to gain some momentum.

Many including me up until last week thought that Beane and McDermott are connected at the hip and that McDermott hand picked Bean. Even if this is true with things heading in this direction is it possible Beane lobbies for a coaching change?

Judging from the moves Beane has made (the incredible amount of trades he has made for players and picks) he seems to be more of a new age NFL executive. Think Howie Roseman or Les Snead.  What these types have in common is aggressive personel moves and aggressive coaches.  Enter McDermott where you can not use the word aggressive and McDermott in the same sentence unless it is this one.  I would have to think Beane knows the formula to beating the Patriots and other dominant teams is being more aggressive than they are.  McDermott will never be that guy and Beane knows this.

So I don’t think it would be a total shock for Beane to make a pitch to the Pegulas in an offensive league to go with a young innovative offense oriented mind.  I would say it’s only about a 20% chance but at the same token it is larger than people may realize.

No...100% speculation and conjecture. You did however suck me in with a provocative subject.

People do realize that this draft is loaded with DL talent (aka what we're not looking for) and very few guys worthy of top 10 picks on offense (aka what we need)? All the other teams mentioned above except for Arizona will more than likely be taking defense so we probably won't have to compete with other teams for OT Jonah Williams or whichever WR we'd want to grab.

That's why we need to trade our projected top 3 pick to collect more picks where the top offensive players will be and to fill numerous holes.

The draft board is shaping up and it looks as though the Bills can lock down a top 5 pick with a loss next Sunday to the 3-6 NY Jets.

Its gonna be tough to out-suck the Raiders and the Giants are pretty putrid too.  The Cardinals smell of rotting garbage and the 49ers are perking up with an unknown free agent QB so they could get a couple of more wins.  The Browns are a grease fire ? and could easily lose out.  The Cardinals do play the Raiders in what may be the worst game on the NFL schedule this year.

So, I'm hoping we can fall no lower then the 3rd pick in the draft, but sadly we will get Allen back after the bye and with home games against the Jags, Lions, Jets and Dolphins we could stumble into a couple of worthless victories.

Maybe we should put Allen on IR, promote "Nate the great" to starter for the rest of the year in hopes of a historical inept performance on offense leading the team to a draft improving 2-14 record to truly start the rebuild.

Don't lose any sleep, we will lose to the Jets. I suspect a touchdown underdog.

Bills Offensive Moves with McDermott as HC.

    - trade Sammy Watkins for 2nd round pick

    - signed Vlad Ducasse,  Patrick DiMarco & Andre Holmes

    - don't pick Mahomes or Watson, trade out of the #10 spot

    - trade up for Zay Jones

    - draft Dion Dawkins

    - sign Anquan Boldin

    - trade 3rd round pick for Kelvin Benjamin

    - bench Tyrod Taylor so Nate Peterman can play

    - trade Cordy Glenn and a 1st round pick to move up in the draft

    - trade Tyrod Taylor

    - sign Chris Ivory

    - trade 1st rounder and two 2nds for Josh Allen

    - sign Jeremy Kerley

    - trade for Cory Coleman

    - cut Cory Coleman

    - start Nate Peterman as QB1

    - trade AJ McCarron for 5th round pick

    - sign Derek Anderson

    - sign Terrell Pryor

How has McDermott earned another year to try and fix the offense?

This is their OL, their group of QBs, their RBs, and their WRs, and the offense is scoring 10.6 PPG.

    You mean Brandon Beane.

Why yes, that 12 point comeback against the world beater 49ers led by a backup named Beathard, definitely changes everything, especially all of the pick-6’s that highlighted Rosen’s previous outing and multiple beat downs. How has he separated himself again from the pack including Allen?

Arizona's supporting cast on offense is equally inept as the Bills. So, the comeback against a so called poor opponent, and any observations drawn along the way are fair, if still a relatively small sample size. (e.g eight games in). What I observed today was that Josh Rosen was calm in the pocket when it mattered, was very accurate, and remained poised under duress. If he gets an offensive line and fills out a bit he's going to be very good. Josh Allen appears to have already filled out. Will he be calm in the pocket and develop accuracy? We shall see.

  13.

Josh Rosen, the 'other' Josh, led a dramatic Arizona comeback today to pull out a win 18-15 against SF. (I watched the 4th Quarter because I am in a football pool and the game mattered). Down 15-3 in the 4th Quarter, JR was accurate and stayed poised, under duress, in the pocket. Dare I say, unlike the Bills' strong-armed, mobile, yet skiddish and inaccurate rookie, Josh Allen.

Did the Bills take the wrong Josh? From the evidence I've seen to date... regrettably, yes.

  14. I don't have a problem with Daboll either. I think his qualifications certainly exceed his current players on the offensive side of the ball. Am hoping he will be kept for year two to build some continuity. Having said that, it's unclear whether McDermott and Beane have the acumen to provide the O with impact starters in the upcoming draft and free agency. 2018 was a poor year for them. 2019 will be make or break for the FO with a lot riding on Josh Allen's progress.

Please name one aspect of the Bills roster that is ABOVE the overall average talent level in the NFL.  We are so below that level in every area of play that it's more than sad.  With all the cap money that is available in 2019 ($97 mil)the Bills can't correct this mess.  Nobody wants to come to Buffalo without a fully guaranteed contract.  Why would a veteran offensive lineman,  LB, or experienced LB want to come here?  We'll have to over-pay and that has been a problem.  The "process" nonsense can't overcome the obvious.

Buffalo is NOT a player friendly city. Nothing to do for young, black players.  It's true - believe it or not.

Remember the Super Bowl years? The cure is WINNING. Fortunately, the Bills had Bill Polian as GM, the brilliant architect of notable drafts and trades. As the team began to win, more and more players 'wanted' to play in Buffalo, and in front of one of the greatest fan bases in pro sports.

Unfortunately, the jury is out on Beane and McDermott as player evaluators. They've made their jobs tougher by their personnel moves or lack thereof. They will be spared their jobs by the Pegulas because of the promise of numerous draft picks in 2019 and the extra money they'll have to spend. It's possible some of the picks and acquisitions will pan out. But after multiple misses in the draft and FA, IMO they'll need some home runs to turn the franchise's around. And, yes, they'll have an uphill battle to sign quality FA's at reasonable deals. With their recent track record, particularly with their decisions on the offensive side of the ball, why should Bills fans have confidence they have the necessary skill to make a turnaround happen?
