Agree.  He adds an element outside that wasn't there before he signed.

Not a #1 or even a #2, but can keep Defenses honest

This is the idea. MVS isn't a sexy signing but does fill the Gabe role that the roster needed. Big WR with speed that forces safety's to be honest and play deep. He wlll play the true X role and allows Coleman, Shakir, and Samuel to mix and match in the slot and the Y defense. Kincad will also benefit by keeping the middle more open with the safety's respecting MVS speed. We all know about the drops but he's had that since Green Bay and still got the respect from the opposing secondary's.

Interesting that the Bills had a high second round grade on Coleman.  Annoying.

Beane said they only had 20-21 1st round grades. Picking 28 the plan was to trade down if one of those didn't fall. The scouts still could have had Keon at #23, #28 or #33 on the board but graded as a second rounder.

Sometimes 1st rd graded players do fall which is what happened with Kincad and attack which happened last year. Trust the board.

Coleman also said on one of the videos that he regarded being at Michigan State as a two year sentence and that he was a southern boy at heart.  Not sure what he will feel about Buffalo in November, December and January.

Folks blaming the backup QB at Miami are talking like Jordan Travis missed half the season.  Travis played 10.5 games.   He only missed 2.5 games that Coleman played in (Coleman did not play in the Orange Bowl).

I herd that too but I think he clarified it that his game was better in the SEC/ACC systems where there was more passing rather than the ground an pound system the Big 10 teams play thus his transfer our of MSU.

This was one of those times you shouldn't announce your signings. Bring the guys in undercover, and let them compete like a undrafted free agent. If they show up cool. If they don't they can slunk out the door unnoticed. Announcing these signings is like announcing you just got your hair cut. Everyone can see you did, but no one really cares.

Didn't the Bills do just that though? They got Claypool in for a workout without media breaking the news he was in town (WGR mentioned they were being told rumors he was in town).  He must have shown something skill wise and the Bills signed him if he didn't no one would have likely known then they announced with 2 other players to make appear it less notable. Once signed it has be announced by the league so there isn't a way to hide it.

Interesting that we took two of them. Definitely weren’t happy with Harty

Maybe, but the change to the kick off rules makes that much more like a punt return thus the need.  With Hardy gone it opened a spot for a primary PR late in the draft and they decided to go with Hardy. Fun to think that Keon could do it but I really doubt they want their top pick returning. Still good to have that skill in case the PR gets injured in a game.

  6. Not sure this was already posted. Tyler Dunn posted snipits from his scouts opinions on Coleman. Some good some bad. Comparisons to Tee Higgins and Anquan Boldin show there is a real path for Keon to succeed.

“NFC scout: “Great body control. Unbelievable hands. Great understanding of defenses. Loves the game of football. Receivers that ran slow include Keenan Allen, Cooper Kupp, Allen Robinson, Davante Adams. He’s got as good if not better body control than those guys do. He just goes up and goes for it. This guy’s so talented as an athlete that he could have gone to Kansas and played basketball.”

To be a bit optimistic both the Athletic and ESPN list Cortland Sutton as Colemans comp.

All the sites I looked at have Coleman in the 7-10 range WR rankings so it wouldn't be a reach. I also expect the Bills to double dip at WR so a more twitchy player will also be added. Not saying it is my favorite WR idea but getting Coleman shouldn't be immediately dismissed as a bad pick.

Worthy probably doesn’t make it to pick 28.  I think Worthy or Thomas are the pick if we stay at 28.  If they’re both gone, it means Nix/Penix or one of the OT’s are still available at 28 and we trade back.

2 bites of the apple draft theory.

AD, Ladd, Leggett, Coleman, etc are in the same tear talented but each with a different flaw for me that dropping down to 45ish a couple WRs will be there pick up another 3rd and then use that on another WR to compliment the 1st pick. Like a Coleman paired with Burton.

I have seen 4 separate mocks released in the past 24 hrs with BTJr dropping to 28 and Buffalo Being the auto pic. Too much group think to actually happen but guessing the medical reg flag and are pushing Worthy to WR 4 (Indy getting the buzz at 15). I can't see Beane being patient enough if Tomas Jr drops in the 20's to not trade up and secure the WR even if the mocks think it will happen.

  9. Charles Davis rumors 2 days out.

biggest nugget is it may be Maye or bust for Minnesota to trade up and settling with Nix.

    On the WR for us.

”Unless Georgia’s Ladd McConkey or South Carolina’s Xavier Legette crashes the party, I think the first-round wide receiver group will be capped at five minimum and six maximum. That consists of Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr., LSU’s Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr., Washington’s Rome Odunze and Texas’ Xavier Worthy. A player teetering is Texas’ Adonai Mitchell, who has some more deeply split opinions than the other five.”

I see that a lot and I just don't agree with these writers.  He is about the same size as Stefon Diggs.  Marvin Harrison as well and he played in an era where you could hit.

If you have the ability not to take big shots all the time, you will last long.  McConkey is that guy.

McConkey is getting the injury label by missing games the past 2 years due to injury thus not showing the "ability to take big shots". This isn't a potential preventative narrative it is based off his history and being smaller than the other prospects that haven't missed time. Diggs and Harrison may be the similar size but have demonstrated they can avoid hits and not miss time.  Injuries can be fluky so I am not saying Ladd will definitely get injured but hasn't shown that in college.
