Bottom line is saying something is “black” is racist. We are one America with one national anthem. I’m sick of the pandering

They don’t want unity - that’s the problem

So the drive to equality to you is pandering? The point is that many people of color and marginalized people feel like this national anthem was not written for them (and we know that it was not) and doesn't really apply to them. The faces of America are not the same as they were in 1814, nor 1914. I wish we were one America as you say. Sadly decades, even centuries of painful history have proven that is not the case. The way to unite this country is to be honest about our history and problems and learn from them, even evolve a little, not continued denial. Equating equality to pandering isn't a way forward.

Isn’t a “black” national anthem racist? Just imagine if we had a “white” national anthem. I will not stand if played at any game I attend. This creates division

I'm so tired of this rationale. The Star Spangled banner was written in 1814 to celebrate the valor and courage of white men because women weren't allowed to fight or vote back then, black folks were slaves and most of the other colors in between who helped lay the groundwork of the melting pot that is America hadn't arrived yet. While it's expected to be a song for all Americans, it was not written from that perspective. It was written by a slave owner. Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing, the black national anthem was written in the early 1900's in the midst of Jim Crow times. It's not like it was written last week or anything. What is so threatening about equality?

IB, I’m sure you’re just kidding, but people mostly have a tendency to just be a little nicer to each other as we get closer to Christmas.  Considering 93% of the US consider themselves Christians, I would say that is the majority even if not everyone.  I’m not turning this into a religious thing, just the point is be nice to each other.

If you feel it necessary to be petty, you knew what I was saying, so we’ll agree to disagree.  I will not reply again so say whatever you want.

It's not 93%. It's quite a bit lower and continuing to decline.

  4. I wish we could stop playing the national anthem before games. It's not an international competition. At this point all the anthem does is divide us. It's time to stop playing it at games altogether, outside of the Olympics. Maybe they could put on some of that NFL Films music from the 60's before each game, or other forms of popular music to get everybody pumped up. We go to sporting events to share a common interest, our love of the game and our team. It should be as simple as that.

  5. I feel like if Edmunds isn't reading the plays better/is more consistent by years' end, some consideration should be given to moving him to the SAM. The guy is still a physical freak and has a lot of talent. He's good enough to be on the field, for sure. But is he a MIKE? I'm not sure yet. He has gotten better, but he needs to take another step. I'm willing to give him 2 full seasons to figure it out, especially considering how young he was when he came into the league.

  6. Happy to have a 14 point lead but still a little disappointed. The D is as advertised but the offense needs to clean it up and quick. That performance; the 3-4 dropped passes, fumbling the ball in the red zone, Allen taking a penalty to knock us out of field goal range and then missing a wide open Zay by over 5 yards, that's not going to be good enough to beat New England next week. We should be up at least by 21-24 points right now. That said, Allen is looking good for the most part. Definitely solid improvement from a year ago. Hopefully he takes yet another step sometime this year and stops leaving big points on the field. That's what separates this team from wild card contender, to a team that can win a playoff game or two. Let's finish this off right, Viva Los Bills!

  7. Wow what a reversal from last year's Jets game at the Ralph, when Darnold came up big down the stretch, on the road and took the game for the Jets while Allen faltered. This Bills team is only going to get better as the year goes on, so ugly wins at the beginning of the season, while we are gelling and figuring it out, is fine by me.

  8. A one year show me deal for Ziggy would be great. Our signings are pretty much all done so giving a chunk of our remaining 2019 cap space to Ziggy wouldn't hurt in a worst case scenario like him getting hurt or underperforming. Plus a one year deal gives Ziggy all the motivation in the world to give us a great year so he can get paid again. It's a low risk, high reward type of situation and we just happen to have a spot open in the DE rotation for a good pass rusher. With Shaq and Jerry in the last year of their deals and with Murphy easy to walk away from after the season, if the DEs don't perform to expectations, they are a candidate for the kind of nearly complete makeover the O-line got this spring. But adding Ziggy would create a pretty good DE rotation on paper.

  9. I'll bite. I had the opportunity to watch 2 Josh Allen games his last year in college, 1 of them being the bowl game where he flat out dominated and looked like a man playing with boys. I also had the opportunity to see Tyree Jackson 3 times this year, including his bowl game where he looked lost when adversity came and like he was trying way too hard. Similar numbers notwithstanding, Allen was a much better prospect. He looked more poised and under control. Allen looked like he was in charge, in command of that Wyoming team... and Allen had nothing around him. You wouldn't have blamed him for slinging it everywhere and running every other down and trying to do too much. He was all they had, especially in his last year, yet he kept his INTs down to only 6. For as gifted and talented as Tyree is, he looked very wild at times, making far too many bad decisions with the ball, looked very reckless too often, plus he has a very funky, almost unnatural release that has to be refined. He made many incredible plays but he also made tons of head scratching ones where you thought you might have been watching a freshman qb. I was hoping, both for selfish reasons and for his own benefit that he stayed one more year at UB. He could have smoothed out the edges, added seasoning and showed that he wasn't just a physical talent but an exceptional QB who could lead a team and make better decisions with the ball. But to answer your question, they're on different levels and I don't mean right now. I mean Tyree now and Josh last spring. Tyree is a physical specimen learning how to play quarterback. Josh was a young quarterback learning how to become a better quarterback. Josh was just further along in his development than Tyree is now.

It also helped Josh's case no doubt that his coach was Carson Wentz' college coach for a few years and he compared the 2 QBs favorably. This was when Wentz was coming off his potential MVP season that ended a few games early due to injury. Having that kind of endorsement and perception definitely helped. That said, I still think someone should've drafted Tyree in the middle rounds or least towards the end of the draft. He looks great on paper and in highlights but the problem with Tyree is that he probably needs 2 seasons before he's ready to play, if he's ever ready to play at the NFL level and most coaches/staffs can't wait that long! For the Bills it's a win-win. They take the kid with local ties that they don't actually need and didn't have to invest anything to get and if he becomes anything or shows potential in a year or two, they can trade him for a pick.

  10. My #1 guy for 40 is DE-Jaylon Ferguson. DE/Edge is a sneaky need for us with Zo retiring and Hughes and Lawson potentially UFAs after the season. I don't think McBeane wants to be left with only Murphy on the depth chart next March. Ferguson can come in and do what he does best, rush the passer until he gets a little stronger and more experienced. If Ferguson is gone, maybe Chase Winovich is a possibility at DE/Edge as well. If Irv Smith Jr is there, I'm thinking long and hard about him because after him, the talent at TE drops off a bit. I wouldn't take any of the other TEs til round 3 but there are some good receiving TE projects in there at 74 or later (Sternberger, Knox, Oliver, Warring). I think with how our coach loves his CBs, Byron Murphy would be another thought if he's still available. Murphy has good size, ball skills and is an excellent scheme fit, as he projects as a very good zone corner- unfortunately Greedy does not. Obviously Dalton Risner is a favorite here- a nasty mauler who's also a high character "process" guy. At receiver, while I wouldn't be upset with DK Metcalf at 40, he scares me. I feel like he's got a very high bust probability- although he also has size and deep, straight line speed which our QB could use. I tend to like his teammate AJ Brown better. I feel like he's more of a total package as a receiver and less of a project. If we went defense again at 40, there might still be some solid receivers available at 74, between Riley Ridley, Andy Isabella, Kelvin Harmon and JJ Arcega-Whiteside, I'd take any of them in round 3 or late round 2 if we traded up. We should definitely have some good options at 40... if we stay there. The longer this draft goes the more valuable those extra 4th and 5th rounders get.

  11. The Giants pick at 6 is important because it might take the 2nd qb off the board but I think we are in an advantageous spot regardless because we are the pick right before the potentially QB needy teams start coming up- Den-10, Cincy-11, Mia-13 and Was-15. If the Giants pass up a QB at 6, it might even be more advantageous to us because it might put them in play as yet another trade up partner as they have 17 and 37 and 17 may be too long to wait for a QB. I'd do 17 and 37 for 9 and one of our 4th or 5th round picks in a second, especially if the Jets grab Oliver and say Jacksonville grabs Hockenson at 7. The Bills phones should be lighting up as we are in the key spot to get either the 2nd or 3rd qb in the draft. Should make things extra fun regardless of how things shake out before us.

  12. White won't be there at 9 and if this were 1989, I'd be on board. But nowadays there are only 2 linebackers on the field most of the time. Zo, when he's in, often lines up on the line or with a hand in the dirt in lieu of a D-lineman. We already have 2 LBs who can stay on the field for 3 downs, there's no room for another in today's NFL or our current defense unless they were an elite edge rusher who would take snaps from the DEs. White, nor our current two 3-down backers have shown that they are great edge rushers so this has zero chance of happening, even if by some miracle White fell to 9. To me this makes as much sense as grabbing a Center or QB at 9.
