I will continuously say this when people bring up the defense. Yea they invest there but it hasn’t just been the defense that has failed the Bills in the playoffs .
In the 3 Chiefs games specifically
The first year we took an early lead and the better more experienced playoff team overwhelmed them. We gave up 37 yes but the offense was completely shut down in the 2nd half. I might add the Bills offense put up a whopping 10 points in the divisional game against the Ravens
The 2nd year they put up 36 and lost. No one after that year was talking about adding more offense they were talking about coaching and defense blowing it.
Last year there were blunders in all facets. Bass misses, fake punt gone wrong, offense stalling in the 3rd and a defense ravaged by injuries. Still had a chance to win and couldn’t get it done.
In 2 out of those 3 games the Chiefs simply made more plays in the clutch than the Bills.
The Bengals game the Bills got dominated again in both offense and defense including Allen being awful but all anyone talked about was the defense getting gashed which they were.
They have done everything. Loaded up on offense, loaded up on defense and didn’t matter. Make more plays in the clutch that is how we are going to beat them.
I don't think we're saying very different things. My contention is that they have over invested in the defense and they always come up short when it matters and that is true - with a defensive coach to boot. We need more playmakers and it would be helpful if we amassed them around the centerpiece of the team.
What you're saying confirms my point. The offense kept them in despite the flurry of points on the other side and just didn't have enough pieces to fully get it done.

I agree that we are kinda/sorta punting on this season...which is a prime Josh Allen year, but I don't think there's another scenario where this team could've went all out this year without drastically jeopardizing this team's chances for the next few beyond this upcoming...which would be even more detrimental to our chances to win in Josh Allen's prime.
I think we failed to capitalize on the first chapter of the Josh Allen Bills superbowl window, and the best case scenario is to only have one season to reset things and get back to being a true contender.
What Beane has done by dealing Diggs, releasing those older, costlier vets, and now what he's done in the draft should set us up nicely for a quick reload...which you don't see typically when you have a roster such as the one we had.
Very balanced take and hard to disagree! Just hard to trust he will do what it takes to put the team over the top this time when it always felt like they just needed another piece or two on offense outside of the 13 seconds year, where they just plain blew it.

This is unwarranted. Beane has essentially now given Allen 3 1st round caliber players to throw to. Diggs via trade, Kincaid last year and now Coleman.
He also signed Beasley in his prime.
If you want to say he didn’t do it early enough okay I can hear ya but he has given him good ball players to throw to
Will have to agree to disagree on this one. Diggs he deserves credit for but anyone could see they needed a serious talent infusion at WR. My belief is they've routinely over-invested in defense that has come up woefully short in every single moment that has mattered over the last 3 seasons, and that starts philosophically at the top.

Many fans, esp on here, want a big name, splash, flash whatever gets ESPN and any other talking heads liking us. And they also have a bad habit every offseason getting a player or three stuck in their heads and wont budge off of them no matter what, and that happened this year.
The flavor of this offseason was an X WR, or a guy with size and speed to "take the top off a defense". KC hasn't had one since they traded Hill and still won a couple superbowls. SF has two really good WR's and a great RB and good TE, but still not the guy who purely takes the top off per say, and kick butt. Detroit just gave a huge contract to a guy who is considered the best all around WR right now. His 40 time? 4.61.
Beane was smart, KC was going to get Worthy no matter what and he got them to give us a 3rd instead of making a pick and them getting him anyway. Look Beane is far from perfect, and who knows how these guys work out, but we are a better team today than last Thursday morning, I dont care what others say, its the truth.
I don't think the criticism should be as a result of this draft. What he did is fine - but we have never focused on the offense or giving Josh the weapons that he needs to put this team over the top during a period in which Beane swore "he was never going all in". Now we have a "reset" year in the prime of Josh's career. That is not ok and a result of previous failures that he deserves a lot of criticism for.

I think Beane is not getting enough props for adding a piece to every single group on both sides of the ball. This is an infusion of youth everywhere on the roster.
We are now a younger team that has good depth pretty much everywhere.
We may need a gamechanger or two, but now at least you reloaded the roster with promising young players, and next season we will have cap space and even better draft capital to make a power move or two should we have a glaring need.
I like the approach, and we'll see how good McDermott and his staff really are given the makeup of the roster
Sure, but the dark side of the reality is you're wasting a year of Josh's prime. Always good to look glass half full and there are longer term reasons for optimism, but let's not bury the lead.

This is pretty dumb. Imagine telling your head coach, hey, we are going to see if something better is out there. Sit tight. Why are people's brains broken?
Maybe said head coach should perform better in the biggest moments? His defense crumbles when it matters most - and that may be putting it kindly.

The fumble out of bounds call was 100% correct. He actually touched it twice while lying OOB. Get over it... it's football.
Not saying you're wrong, but I just didn't see that at all from the replay.

Props to Sean, but no - that's silly.

Thought you were going to talk about the weird fakes Miami kept doing to no one there. I know it's eye candy but not sure how that would even get a split second hesitation.

I'd be shocked if Pitt or the Jags lose.
It's possible but I truly think the Ravens may want to lose to try to knock out the dangerous Bills' team.
Teams don't actually think like that. It's a divisional rival and the backups have something to prove. Not sure they care about a team they likely feel confident they can beat, that controls their own destiny anyway, getting in.

doesn't seem very processy

Not the exact response you were looking for, but if I remember correctly Diggs motioned to come off for at least a couple of them.

He looks like a clearly different level player (from Dane at least) to my eye. The size and length are apparent- and he actually uses that size to be physical within routes- and there's an energy around him that he's going to make a play on the ball. He's just a perfect fit for this D IMO.
Not really a debate IMO. Maybe Benford close but not Dane.

Keep Shakir in the slot and go after a legit #2 in the draft, we need to think about another #1 too, I have to imagine we'll have another diggs off season saga.
Of media creation only, maybe. We're lucky to have Diggs but regardless would be good to draft a guy that can eventually become your new stud.

Not a chance. Have you seen the cap hit numbers?

Or, maybe some team with a young QB (or a capable QB with minimal weapons) and big cap space will pay something closer to it.
The Bears have more cap space than they know what to do with, for example, and a young QB who could use a savvy vet WR who can catch anything flung in his general direction. They have extra draft picks after trading their first to the Panthers.
The Panthers have 2nd most cap space, made it clear they're taking a QB who could benefit from a savvy vet WR, and they still have their own 2nd and 4th round picks as well as the 3rd and 4th rounder they got from SF in the McCaffrey trade.
The Lions have they 3rd most cap space. They are going into Dan Campbell's 3rd year, have Goff under a manageable contract for 2 more years, and lost 5 games by 3 or 4 points. They may feel the clock is ticking for them, and feel like adding a second top WR to Amon-Ra St Brown would put them over the top and flip those games, giving them 13-4 or 14-3. They have the 3rd most free cap space and 8 draft picks, 4 in the first 2 rounds so they're well-positioned to trade a 2nd round pick without hurting their board.
Good NFL WR can be arrogant. They feel that they can make catches and yards with anyone throwing to them - Tyreek Hill saying to a reporter "I could make yards with you throwing to me." My sense of DHop is that's something he would say. So it's probably more important to Hopkins to go to a team that can pay him, than it is for him to go to a team that has one of the best QB in the league.
See above - I made a case for 3 teams with a buttload of cap space.
Lions have Jameson Williams so they're all set. Also has been widely reported he wants to go to a contender so that would likely rule out most of the teams with cap space.

Week 14 Sea vs Rams drew 17.88M
I'm not trying to take anything away from it, just thought it was helpful context since I was curious myself after seeing it. Maybe better than the previous week, but below the average for the year. Appreciate the link - it's interesting to look at it over the course of the year.
-
Which is impressive until you compare it to the average Sunday Night Football game that draws 20.5M according to the tweet right after that. The numbers were likely negatively impacted by the low scoring game script, which doesn't draw the fair weather fan.

I'm happy with the Oliver pick but was high on Hockenson, but after the Giants f'ed up you know they had their choice of three where they really couldn't choose poorly. And maybe after the draft they said they had Oliver rated higher but we'll never know, would have been interesting to se what would have happened if both Hock and Oliver were still left.
I believe they celebrated when Hock was picked by Det in one of the draft videos that the team posted. I suppose they could have edited it to look that way, but it seemed pretty authentic in their messaging before and after the draft.
-
That would imply Hughes is worth about a mid first round pick when you account for the premium we will have to pay to move up. Probably would take at least one of our thirds in addition.

$330 per seat on the low end (typically upper corners/Rockpile) to $1,080 between the 30s in the lower bowl.

NE divisional game is $325- $1700 on stubhub
Looks like $190 at the low end to me and not sure how the high end is all that relevant since you can list it at whatever you want.
I'm sure that will go up if the Bills/Chiefs are the opponent but just not sure where you're getting your numbers from.

I remember reading on here last week some fans had bought tickets in anticipation of a playoff appearance - certainly not for the superstitious among us but that's paying off handsomely. Wonder if anyone is already doing it for the Pats game given what's transpired here...

Talent evaluators I trust have always liked Hamler and expected a breakout. Though the odds clearly have diminished and expectations should be kept in check, would be great if it finally happened here.
