If you are truly have good intentions with that avatar, maybe consider choosing a different avatar that would actually communicate good intention. You get questioned about it all the time, clearly rubbing people the wrong way and yet you consider it a positive? The road to epic failure is littered with people who had good intentions.

I’ve had it since the beginning with less than a handful of questions, 3 in this thread. It’s time for people to feel discomfort.

Oh they do.  It's burnt into our retinas.  I suspect you have another reason.

It’s easy to find where I stand. Hover over my name and do a search of my posts. You’ll be surprised, apparently. You don’t have to come back to apologize though.

They resigned from the unit that handles "riot" control, so they are (or were) the primary unit responsible for that, and are no longer serving in that role.  IMO it appears they feel they were hung out to dry by Police Leadership, but honestly, it really does highlight the huge problem there is in policing today, where it's assumed that it's ok in pretty much any case for them to use force to get someone to comply (and of course that they will generally protect each other over the public most of the time.)

Also do you really have that scumbag as your Avatar?  Why on Earth would you do that, and why is it allowed here?

If you were part of that unit and your union told you that they would not support you in legal proceedings would you stay knowing any expenses would be out of pocket?  Their union let them down.

I understand that, They resigned from the Unit created to keep the protests in order. You dont see an issue with that? In fact, let me stop responding to you. Im tired of seeing your damn Avatar every few minutes. For you to glorify that is beyond me. Im fine with a difference of opinion but thats an all out troll move.

You sir are missing the point, by a mile. Have a nice evening.

You are totally MISSING THE POINT. Their union?!?!? Ar you serious? Cops have a SWORN OATH POSITION. You don't resign at a time you are needed most over some bogus crap like that. If their union is that terrible that they would refuse legal help to them during marches then sounds like they need to come together and demand change. You don't abandon your post! Josh was right...anyone who would do that DOES NOT DESERVE TO WEAR A UNIFORM!

They didn’t resign, so perhaps you are missing the point. They are still active, just not part of that special unit (unless things have changed since I last read on the subject). So, if called for crowd control etc. I would assume they are out there.

I love the aggressiveness Josh shows on third down. However I think on first and second down he needs to take a check down a bit more. The easiest way to get in third and long situations is to not take the 3-4 yard or even 2 yard dump off on an early down. So yes be aggressive but not stupid on third down but be smart on first and second down so you don't have to be aggressive as much on third down.

    I approve of this message.

"Have a beer with," can be substituted with "hang out with," if you're not a beer drinker.  People on your list must be alive when you write it.

For the purposes of this thread, I'm talking about celebrities or people you're VERY unlikely to ever have an opportunity to hang with.

    Okay, fine.  I'll go first:

    President Barack Obama

    Mark Cuban

    Paul McCartney

    Ryan Fitzpatrick

    George W. Bush

Well, ***** my life; I didn’t make the list.

For me the list would be:

    Abraham Lincoln

    John Lennon

    Buddha

    JFK

    David Bowie

It is football, not a platform for politically correct viewpoints. End of story.

So, your short answer without the hyperbole would be yes.  It's sad to me that you view someone putting his career on the line as a politically correct viewpoint.  Something that should be applauded and used as a teaching moment for our next generation of adults is instead bastardized and called "politically correct."

My guess is that this is something that you'll just have to either get used to or ignore.  If you're at a game be in the beer line during this time.  If you're at home tune out until 10 past the hour.  Real problems deserve to be discussed.  If that makes you uncomfortable then ignore.

that’s the part that gets me with the “I could never enjoy a game with these political statements” crowd.

I don’t think I’ve ever particularly even looked at the players during the anthem.

If it’s your escape, just stop trying to police every else’s behavior, right? I can get not liking an ESPN talk show focused on it but the game? 100% uneffected

If you are, you're doing it wrong, eh?

Never happen, but the practice should stop outside of the Olympics.

I try to keep politics and sports separate (including on here) but since this thread specifically asks... I wish President Trump would stop trying to politicize the NFL for his own gain.  Football is where I go for 3 hours to get away from that kind of stuff.  I've never considered athletes kneeling to be all that political.  If they want to use their celebrity to bring awareness to an issue that's important to them it doesn't bother me any and they have my full support.  I've never liked the way the President and his allies in the right wing media have tried to co-opt what I view as a harmless peaceful statement into some sort of political nonsense about disrespecting the flag.  I've never fully understood why it's so easy for some to confuse the two when that's clearly not what anyone is trying to do.

They are confusing the issue so much are bastardizing it to suit their needs.

I had no idea that saluting our military had anything to do with politics , is it ok to thank them for their service or that might offend someone?

The NFL program was promotional, a paid event.

What is everyone's opinion? Should politics be kept out of the NFL? My opinion is yes, keep it out. For starters, after a long week of working and seeing the news, I personally want to escape from all of that outside influence and relax watching football. I do not care who is sitting next to me at a football game, from any walk of life, I just want to watch the game and high five. Yet when things become political, the game isn't as enjoyable. My opinion is sports and sports teams should be like Switzerland and be neutral.

Is being socially responsible something you define as a political act?

Thanks, that wasn't so hard.  When you have a point to make, it's typically expected that you provide something to communicate your point, rather than asking others to do it for you.

I know it's lost on you, but, when someone points you to a source and tells you what to look for you really don't need more than that.  Spoon feeding should end at infancy.  For your own sake, educate yourself

This isn't some neo-liberal vs. right-wing issue, this is basic humanity and common sense......you are way off kilter with this and other responses. I'm guessing you don't think you'd ever be in that position yourself but if you were you'd expect to be treated in a similar fashion as you espouse- by law enforcement. That was sarcasm. You should reevaluate and soon.

I'm not sure why, but something tells me that ol' "happy" isn't the introspective type.  The 75 year old got what he deserved.  Floyd probably too, in his mind.  You do the crime you do the time.No knock warrant shoot em up? Those people shouldn't have been living there.  Not the fault of the cops.  That woman died in her bed because of choices she made.
