  1. I agree the Team needs two more LBs above and beyond Tarpley Riddick and Powell.

Now they need 2 DTs with Charles gone. And I dont think Wynn and Valles are viable starters to replace Mario. Does Carrington stay Healthy this year?

This is a critical year for drafting.

Bills are getting better at it though i will admit that.

I am afraid it is going to come down to Coaching on the D side. I have mixed emotions about that still.

LBs do have a much different role in a Rexy D. I think Brown will step up though. But as i mentioned and agreed with folks , Bills need to score in the draft at LB.

I can see them going for one at 19 if they like what is there well enough.

jeses Bills need more picks in the middle rounds

Whaley thinks very highly of Valles for whatever that's worth.

They have? I like Leo and Bradham more than most but neither were irreplaceable. Mario is all world in potential but on the field his production is replaceable for far cheaper. Hogan? Meh. Ubrik? Meh. This team is returning 11 starters on offense for the first time in a good while, another year in Roman's system and a full off season with Taylor as the #1 QB should all help the offense gel. The defense was a mess last year, losing Mario, Leo and Bradham (two out of three weren't good fits to begin with) won't be the death blow for the defense. They absolutely need to hit in the draft, but that was always going to be the case. I'm convinced they are capable of finding one if not two day one starters in this draft on the defensive side of the ball.

I agree they should be able to find some starters in the draft. My point is they lost talent (not necessarily good fits for the team) in Williams, Bradham and the others. Were any of them great last year for Buffalo? No. But they do have talent and with Buffalo's limited cap space they cannot replace them in FA. So they must do it in the draft which is the best place to do it in the first place. So no, I don't feel the roster will be more "talented" next year but yes I do expect the team to be "better" next season.

What do you mean by crush the draft? The draft can't cure the problems with this team in one year. Long term sure...

You might get one maybe two players if you are lucky that can impact the team in meaningful ways out of this years draft to fill holes in 2016.

Look at what Whaley did last year. Got three meaningful contributors in 2nd, 3rd, 5th round. This draft is supposed to be deep at DE so if they can get a few key players in the draft that can play meaningful snaps there is a chance the roster could be better (but still unlikely)

  4. Which is all they need to do. Also, very few top players make it to free agency so having $40-50M in cap space isn't always great. This team has enough talent to win and will re-sign their best players....it's the coaching I'm more concerned with. Remember, we now have Rob Ryan on the staff

I am not unhappy with them not having cap space. I don't think free agents are the best way to build a team. The draft is the best place for that so I like the fact they don't have too many holes and can try to fill them mostly in the draft. Should be interesting with Rob and Rex this season.

  5. No, they are not. They have already created space and will make moves to get more. They will be able to make offers to whomever they choose.

I may have been being a bit dramatic when I said they were in dire straights but they still have limited cap space even after restructuring Clay. They cannot afford anyone they want but they will be able to target a couple of players after they resign their own.

  6. Spotrac now has a new roster management tool that is extremely useful when looking at next year's cap situation.

    Try it yourself:

    http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/tools/roster/buffalo-bills/

    Here's what I did:

    Released

    Mario Williams

    Kyle Williams

    Aaron Williams (retirement)

    Leodis McKelvin

    Manny Lawson

    Dan Carpenter

    Boobie Dixon

Savings against the cap - $32.675M

Assuming the cap will be $150M (in actuality it'll be a bit higher), that puts the team at $33M under the cap. I didn't want to touch Clay's deal, as leaving it alone provides a lot more space down the road.

    Re-sign

Cordy Glenn - 5 years, $35M with $11M gtd (same contract as Jared Veldheer got from Arizona; neither has made the pro bowl, but both are bona fide starting LTs). Assume cap hit of $8M in year 1.

Richie Incognito - 5 years, $25M with $8M gtd (close to Clint Boling's deal in Cincinnati; less money due to age). Assume cap hit of $5M in year 1.

Stephon Gilmore - 5 years, $55M with $30M gtd (more than Byron Maxwell, less than Joe Haden). Assume $11M cap hit in year 1 (same as his rookie contract option year cap hit).

    Do Not Re-sign

Nigel Bradham - down year and not a great fit for this defense

Alex Carrington - too many injuries and too many guys that can play his role; also getting Jarius Wynn back from injury makes him expendable

The above leaves the Bills $20M under the cap to add some pieces in FA.

    Thoughts?

Sportstrac is a great site for this. The below site also has a great tool that I have heard tremendous things about but haven't had a chance to explore it in depth yet

As a pathologist, he's a doctor who never treats anyone. He looks at slides and makes diagnoses for other doctors who treat people.

An absurd comparison---and otherwise, have you heard of such a doctor or researcher going around the country grandstanding like this? No you haven't despite major cancer fighting discoveries and treatments over the past 30 years.

This guy suddenly decides, in 2016, that OJ has CTE?

"While Omalu stressed that CTE does not cause the criminal behavior that led to Simpson’s incarceration, he wants the case to serve a reminder of the life-altering damage that can result from playing football."

So...he says his CTE (which he would bet "his medical license on"--a joke in and of itself) did not cause OJ to commit crimes, yet he still wants OJ's (undiagnosed) CTE to serve as a reminder of.....what then?

    Ridiculous.

Even though he is a pathologist, I can't imagine he has access to scans of O.J.'s brain which I assume (but am not certain) would be the only way he could make such a statement with any type of certainty
