  1. First of all, it's a stupid rule. No one but KJ Wright was anywhere near the ball, certainly not any Lions. Had there been a Lions player in the vicinity and KJ batted it out of the end zone to prevent a TD, it should have been a penalty.

Second, and more importantly: How many games this season haven't been decided by the officials? This league blows.

  2. Best loss I've ever seen.

    Why?

    I'm free.

I realized, on that Tyrod TD run that wasn't, that the league has finally, mercifully, reached the point where I no longer care.

I'm not watching a sport... I'm watching a 3.5 hour beer commercial, interspersed with completely subjective "penalties" designed to keep the game close, and award the teams that "should" win, like the New York metro area Giants.

It's not a conspiracy, it's just a waste of time on a beautiful fall day.

I'll respond in length to the person who sent me a PM about the Patriots, and I'll make some final goodbye post after our next win--for 2 reasons.

    A) so it resonates with the true Bills fans on here (not social media team members from the league) and not people that think I'm just "bitter" after a loss; and B) so those same social media team members have talking points to bring back to their account managers and maybe the message can start working its way up the ladder.

The person I feel worst for?

Mr. and Mrs. Pegula. Sell now while you can, this league is in a tailspin.

Oh sure, profits will probably keep going up, for now, but kids are dying, schools are closing programs, and the league is awful.

It's been real guys, hate away, but the NFL f*cking blows now, and I'm sorry to be the first to eulogize it, but one of us has to.

Hate to admit it, but I sort of feel the same way. Here in the Pacific NW, Fox cut away during every Bills first half drive to show highlights from other games. Number of times they cut away from NYG drives? Zero.

    F 'em.

  3. Maybe you people would want him to kiss Bill's rings.

Amen. Let Rex be Rex. He's going to be, anyhow.

The game sucked, but it's just one game. And they could have quit down 37-13 in the fourth, but showed a lot of guts and never gave up.

They'll get better. Think of it this way: we just lost to the defending SB champs. The Dolphins lost to the Jaguars.

  4. One more time...

I never claimed that either of the previous scandals were conspiracies against the Patriots.

Right now, this season, there is a feeding frenzy developing around the Patriots. No doubt there are unscrupulous people with other teams, or with other organizations, who probably wouldn't be above taking advantage of the current anti-Patriot sentiment pervading the league.

(calling people names on this message board is discouraged)

    You're right, sorry.
  5. They knew they had a sort-of "double jeopardy" immunity after all of the press around deflategate and their history of cheating. Who would actually think they had the ballz to do it again in the first game of the NFL season under a national spotlight? And if they did, what's the league going to do about it....put another nail in their own coffin? They were both trolling Goodell and gaining an edge with this latest stunt. Essentially, they trolled every fan of the NFL.

The owners will soon start to see an erosion of the business if the Pats run the table this year courtesy of blown calls in their favor and tech glitches. I cannot teach my sons to l love a game that has an unfairness and corrupt feel to it.

I cannot stand the sight of Brady/Kraft/Bellichick...they are not villains, that implies that they have a place in the game with heroes. These guys have no honor. They are the lowest form of competitor and I hope titles eventually get stripped when people really start talking from inside.

    Well said. I agree.
  6. Do all you guys criticizing fans for being upset because Fred "wasn't that good" understand WHY people like him? They don't like him because he was born with Bo Jackson's ridiculous power/speed combo or Barry Sanders elusiveness. He wasn't an amazing athlete that dazzled fans with his talent. That wasn't the attraction.

They love him because he's an everyman who made himself into a guy who competed with and won jobs from guys who were brought in to be better. To take his job. For years the Bills were infatuated with drafting RBs high in the draft. They kept brining in first round guys and Jackson kept sending them packing. How? Hard work, perseverance, determination. Every ounce of his being was put into making himself a better player than the high profile picks. He became a back who could, literally, do it all. He rounded out his game in a way that superstar guys rarely do.

What Fred Jackson did transcends sports, he became a guy every human being could look at and admire because he's who we all aspire to be. He made himself the best he could possibly be. He couldn't compete with any of those guys athletically, but he did everything else in his power to hold onto his dream of being an NFL running back.

If you don't admire a guy like Fred and root for him no matter the jersey then you're not a human being I'd care to know.

    Eloquently put. Thank you.

  7. Everybody knows Tom Brady is guilty. What's being worked out here, through the media and in the courts, is how to let him get away with it.

Would be interesting to know how much money is changing hands, and to whom. But who cares, really.

Fug it. This is getting old. To me Brady is and always will be a cheater. Hope he is in there week two when we beat the ******* into submission.

  8. (Equipment guys deflating balls + the Pats firing them for deflating balls) / actual deflated balls = they deflated balls

The math can get a little complicated, but you can trust it.

    Science.

Feh, science. The media debunked that decades ago.
  9. They can't prove it. They know nothing about science! Peugla hates us. I'm never supporting the NFL again. Everybody does it!

Despite our conviction that this was "just a little joyride", it was our intention to accept any discipline levied by the league. Today's punishment, however, far exceeded any reasonable expectation, and completely failed to take into account the scientific evidence supported by the Ideal Gas Law.

  10. Unless there's proof of BB's or BK's involvement or knowledge -- Ive yet to even see an allegation -- this is a false comparison. In NO, Greg Williams was central to it as he was dishing out the cash, and Payton was aware of it and did nothing to stop it

    Obstruction is proof of obstruction.

  11. Players cheat all the time on the field and try to get away with it. Almost never get suspended for it. So a suspension for brady of any kind seems excessive. Fines for cheating like illegal hits generally are in the low 5 figures. So a million is outrageous. And if its a team fine, then a million is double spygates $500k. Imo...and i would most football analysts ....knowing a teams signals is a far greater advantage than a little air in the ball. Again another excessive fine. Furthermore how are the doling out team fines when they've failed to implicate the head coach or owner? Do teams get fined when a player is fined for an illegal hit? So not only is the fine unjustified and excessive, but so is the loss of picks.

We're talking about conspiracy and intent to cheat, lying and obstruction. Whether PSI had any effect on the outcome of games is irrelevant; correlation to other perceived cheating is irrelevant.

That having been said, the last time there was a conspiracy to commit illegal hits (NO) two coaches were out a year and several players punished far more than Brady will be - and that was for participation only, not for orchestrating the conspiracy.

  12. The media is playing us.

Yesterday afternoon: Penalty was just, maybe light. Common sense.

Yesterday night/today: Penalty is harsh, ridiculous, does not fit the crime. Paving way for consensus on reducing penalty.

If this were a court of law, Brady would have to provide requested information and all parties would be subpoenaed and forced to cooperate or face obstruction charges.

Since it is not law, but the NFL corporate policy, it does not apply.

NFL fans should sue Brady and the Patriots and demand answers.

  13. The NFL has basically come out and said that Brady and the Pats are liars and cheaters.

It's the sport itself saying this about its star player and most successful franchise.

That has turned this into a player and franchise legacy issue more than anything else. The stakes are actually sky high. That's why TB can't do the honourable thing, admit guilt and accept the discipline. It's too late. That's why Kraft (and Yee) has now come out with guns blazing.

I don't see any common ground here for a compromise as between NE and the league.

    Lance Armstrong syndrome.
  14. Anyone who has kids knows Brady is lying.

That's what this is really about. You don't get a free pass to cheat just because the cheating is inconsequential or because of a perception (misperception) that everyone else is cheating too.

Ultimately, if the NFL were really serious about setting an example this latest defiance should increase their punishment, not reduce it. Just like you would do with your kid if he persisted in advancing a lie.
