  1. They are good people but they seem pretty bad at running a football team.

First of all they keep Doug Whaley as GM (which a lot of people thought he should have been gone)

Ok fine... Then it's reported that Whaley wants a new QB, and Mcdermott wants to keep Taylor... AND ownership ends up siding with the coach over the GM?

How do you keep a GM and then not even listen to him?

This is just baffling... winning teams don't operate like this.

  2. I'm a bit of an anachronism, I realize this. I am in my 30s, and to me there's nothing quite like a cup of coffee and the physical newspaper in your hands on a weekend morning. We get the Sat-Sun D&C, and it's obvious what's happening to newspapers, especially in smaller cities like ROC. More and more national/syndicated content, advertisements masking as news (as if that flake that owns Salvatore's Pizza is really that interesting or newsworthy), and tired, cranky, third-rate sportwriters who are parked for decades in what will be the best gig they can ever find. It is what it is, it just kinda sucks.

Small city newspapers like Rochester? Try The Hornell Evening Tribune where the top stories are that two dead rabbits were found in the front yard of a Dennis Ave, residence.

  3. I'm not here to pick on the guy, and I've been in a similar situation. IMO someone who goes out of his way to explain that he didn't need professional assistance probably isn't really ready to turn it around.

    But I hope I'm wrong.

It took me a year of one on one counselings and group meetings to finally get of "The Sauce." So you are probably right. I am now going on 5 years of sobriety now but if not for professional help I don't think I could be saying this now. I still struggle at times but I use the skills I learned from counselors to fight my urges.
