  1. Whaley made a deal for a player who he thought was going to be an elite player. In my view that is what he is. Has his talents been maximized? No. But that is mostly due to the qb play. I don't understand the criticism Whaley is drawing for a player who turns out to be a top end talent.

There are opportunities to fill in holes through the draft and free agency. But there are few opportunities to get elite players unless you are at the top of the draft. Watkins has demonstrated that he was well worth the cost. The argument that Becham was also available has some merit but I am not bothered by not taking that option because the player that Whaley targeted as special turned out to be the caliber of player he envisioned.

I get tired of the argument that we gave up two first round picks for Watkins. That is not accurate characterization of that transaction. We gave up one first round pick for him. We moved up the draft in his draft year and we gave up a first in the next year. As it turned out our second round selection was worthy of a first round value. So the deal was on balance very fair and reasonable.

Yahhh someone that can actually count draft picks. I'm sick of hearing that two 1st round pick crap.

  2. I've often thought about this very question: under what incredible circumstances would I actually WANT to see NE* win?

I felt a similar way about the 49ers when they were seemingly always winning. I was sick and tired of seeing them win SB after SB. 5 trophies later it FINALLY ended. Now I don't really care either way about them. IF they win #6 I won't be bothered by it.

I think the only way I could root for Tom Brady and/or Belichick would be if either one is somehow released from the Patriots* and goes back to play them. Then I would root for Brady to get over on his old team, but since that will never happen I will never root for them.

The real question is 5-10 years from now when they are a total train wreck that goes 5-11 or 6-10 every year will we still care? Will beating them be as satisfying?

    Yes! It will be satisfying

  3. its amazing, and frustrating to talk to Panther fans about it because they do not listen.

I do not mean this as harshly as it sounds to those reading it - just let it sink in. But, the Panther fans ignorance arrogance is on par with that of the average Patriots fan 6-7 years ago specifically and many still to this day. The ones that cheer on the team and are so proud of the team, yet, do not watch the game or know many of the players positions, etc. They'll know the name from local media and know the specifics of what is going on with the popular headlines but have no actual awareness of the game.

Panthers fans are arrogant and just as ignorant as Patriot fans. It's funny, because to Patriot fans their team didn't exist before 2002 and to Panther fans their team didnt' exist until 2003. The way you hear them tell it, Jake Delhomme was the weakness of the team, etc. That Steve Smith had to go, their team would never be what it is today with him on it - he held them back. There is just, simply put, a lot of cocksure fans here that think they know the team and they do not. They do not even know the game.

The odd part is that Clemson fans are usually not Panther fans. Panther fans are almost always USC, ECU, UNC or anyone but Clemson and NCSU.

I've been here 16 years and thank god I don't know the people you talk to. Never ran into fans like that.

  4. Marrone vs Ryan argument made me look at the numbers from last year, over all it's pretty close although the teams are not very much a like.

    2014 under Marrone

    after 11 games 6-5 9-7 final going 3-2 in the final 5

stats are for all 16 games

offense average total yards = 318.5 games scoring 20 or more 8 times

defense average yards against = 312.2 games giving up 20 or more 8 times

2014 remained overall extremely healthy as a team also playing with an 11 year vet at QB

    2015 under Ryan

after 11 games 5-6 ( 5 game to be played)

offensive average = 355.9 games scoring 20 or more 7 times

currently after 11 games = 347.1 games giving up 20 or more 6 times

2015 injuries have knocked out pro bowl players Kyle and Aaron Williams for more than half the season. The additions of Charles Clay has helped the offense but Percy Harvin has also joined the list of injured players after only 4 games. Playing with a first year starting quarterback who currently has 9 starts under his belt

When was Aaron Williams a pro bowl player?

  5.

I'm not always going to address your ill-conceived posts..........but what I do is provide perspective.

I get that some people don't like that but it's laughable that people always think Kelly is an idiot and he just keeps winning.

He has his team rolling......they've won 3 of last 4.....only loss was in Carolina, who has beaten everyone......and they have 5 of their final 8 at home.

It is what it is.......the guy knows what he is doing.

    Except with Miami

I have this lamp annd a floor one

So are we actually seeing a regression? He's a smart guy from UNC, so I can't imagine he slacked off over the offseason. He's had a whole year in the system. He showed some great stuff last year at times.

    OR

Is it the coaches already know what they'll get from this guy and they're trying to bring the other guy up to speed?

Not UNC up the road at Duke
  7. I'll use chicken bones, sure. Most of the time it's a hodgepodge of various bones I have on hand. I always buy bone-in meat, cook it on the bone, and then keep them in a freezer container. Once I've got enough bones to fill up my 6-quart crock pot, I pack 'em in there and add some seasonings (salt and herbs mostly).

Cover with water and set on the lowest heat setting. Cook on this setting for 24 hours, strain, and cool. You'll know you've got a good bone broth if there's all kinds of gelatinous material in there.

I generally store it in half-gallon containers and keep one thawed at all times. I drink about a cup per day (just heat in the microwave until warm and drink).

The flavor is usually pretty intense, so it may take some getting used to, but the health benefits will be apparent almost immediately.

See above...you can also go to a local farm and buy some soup bones pretty cheap. The farm I go to has soup bones from grass fed cows for $2.49/lb; you really only need 3 or 4 bones of that size to make a potent bone broth.

    I'll stick to Bud-Lite
  8. I've been around long enough to realize that really good head coaches, GM's, OC's don't make the type of mistakes that these people have made, and then go on to build a winning team. We saw issues last year, and they didn't. We still see issues with the team this year.. This isn't about a 5 year plan. Its about building a solid team the very first year, and going forward from there.

About the only way I see the line advancing to an elite level is by getting those three rookies involved. Seantrel Henderson would have been a first round pick if not for his three positive drug tests at the U, and he admitted his problem during the combine. He compares to DJ Fluker, and could be the steal of the draft, and could get a starting position "if" he can stay clean. Cyril Richardson could start at OG, and with Kouandjio at RT the Bills could easily have a very dominate run blocking unit, and very good pass blocking unit. Not only that, they could finally have some depth. Some really big "if' here.

EJ needs more help then i saw last year. He needs a power run game that can make a 3rd and short so he isn't always under the gun to make a play, and the offense something other then running up the middle 70+% of the time. He needs more then just a WR coach as a mentor, and if they don't care to hire another coach then retain a veteran QB for guidance.

I will embrace a new regime if this staff can't get it together this year, and show some real progress by winning more then they lose.

+EJ has a QB coach this year. Please stop with the veteran QB crap. There is NO veteran worth a crap to waste a roster spot.
  9. It is depressing. I used to have a friend record games for me and send them in the mail, but that was years ago. I hear one can find games streaming online in real time (pirated), but I can't find them on game day. I do see replays of key plays on ESPN, but never whole games. Take it as a measure of my loyalty to the Bills that I've been following them very closely for decades while rarely watching more than two games a year (I'm in Pats* country). Maybe it is pathetic, clicking Refresh every five seconds, but there it is.

Thanks for the kind and informed replies.

Get a dish an buy the NFL package. I have been away from Buffalo for 15 years and have not missed a game let. Been in Louiville, Dallas and all over Carolina's.
