  1. Dude! Really?! This is crazy talk! If the QB says on two and the C snaps it on one, it's his fault? I seriously question your football acumen with this nonsense.

How is the QB supposed to know that the C got the snap count wrong in his brain?

Look you don't have to try to convince me that Kupper sucks and will be looking for a job soon. Seriously i know Kupper botched those snaps albeit nerves, miscommunication, farted mid snap, or what have you. I was being sarcastic, and obviously did not come off as such.

I'm a Bills fan and I will root for whoever is the starter ends up being. I'm just tired of the EJ fanboy-ism by some and ready for the season to start.

Sick of the he is not getting credit for the beautiful TD ( in-spite of horrible footwork ) Its like winning the lottery !...

or then he is getting to much hate for throwing a bomb into the V.I.P tent. ... and like being struck by lightning, and in the same week !

How about the 5 botched snaps since camp started compared to how many by the rest of the QBs on the roster? They all have been together since OTA's. I guess being a leader and showing command in the huddle, and getting everyone on the same page pre-snap is only a prerequisite of a starting QB's in the league.

  2. I thought all 3 QB's had positives,

but until EJ gets time with 1's he's riding in the back seat to the other 2 at this point

But Roman as our OC has made a huge difference in how our Offense functions as a whole and that alone is the net positive we all needed to see

Rex stated at the start of camp the scrimmage would be treated like a preseason game. EJ had his "game" with the ones. I think the QB race was Tyrod Cassel and EJ headed into camp. By starting them in reverse order, it afforded them a longer opportunity to change Rex's and Romans minds before naming a starter before the 3rd preseason game. EJ has likely all but been eliminated as a starting candidate at this point.

  3.

Roethlisberger was accused of rape twice and wrecked his motorcycle driving without a licence. Ended up suspended for detrimental conduct for a time. He's matured a lot since then, but the style of player Big Ben is is very similar to Winston, so I think that's also a fair on-field comparison.

Big Ben's off the field issues happened after he was drafted. Had they happened in college i doubt he would have been drafted in the 1st round. As for your on the field comparison, Big Ben played more than 2 years of college ball. Winston came out of nowhere his first year and seriously regressed his second year. Especially the last half of 2014. Either Winston lacks "mental toughness" or college defenses figured him out. Big Ben's best season in college was his last.

  4. It's very rare to have the 1st pick , I would gamble, rookie contracts make it safer now.

I would gamble on a guy who's floor looks to be somewhere between solid starter and pro-bowler and who's ceiling could be a potential Hall of Famer. Regardless as to whether or not rookie contracts make it safer, missing on a "gamble" has potential to set a franchise back years.

  5. I really don't see Winston as a top 10 talent. Personally I think the Buc's should pair Leonard Williams with McCoy and get a QB in the second. If the pick at #1 has to be a QB, I would go with Mariota. Winston has too many red flags both on and off the field. The only QB drafted in the first round since 2011 to throw more picks in their collage career is Ponder (30), but that was over the course of 4 years. Winston has 28 picks in 2 years! By comparison;

    Mariota 14 picks over 3 years, Bortles 19 picks 3 years, Bridgewater 24 picks 3 years, EJ 28 picks 4 years, Luck 22 picks 3 years, RG3 17 picks 4 years, Newton 7 picks 3 years only started 1, Ponder 30 picks 4 years.

Winston's agent is doing what he's paid to do. Hype his client to the media, and draw attention away from the off the field issues. All you hear about is his potential and his ceiling, while citing countless high-lite reels. But what about his floor ? The same fans and media who will forever link Sanchez to " The Butt Fumble " must be unaware of this one.

  6. Would be a solid move if it happens. Landry would fill lb/ss hybrid role which is a need at this point. Rex's d puts the SS in the box at the snap with a single safety over the top (AW) leaving the corners in man coverage. The SS in rex's d are responsible for cleaning up the strong side in the running game, occasionally dropping back into coverage, and frequent blitzing, which is one of the biggest differences in this D.

  7. While i agree OJ is the greatest pure runner in Bills history, he is not the franchise's greatest back. I realize rushing for 2003 yards in a 14 game season will never again be repeated. The 14 game 1974 season began on Sept. 16, the last game of the Bills regular season was Dec. 15. OJ's lone playoff game was Dec 22 @ Pittsburgh. OJ's playoff stats 15 att. 47 yards 3.27 average and no TDs.. Over the course of OJ's NFL career that's a lot of time off in the between each season to rest.

Thurman played a 16 game schedule, Appeared in 21 playoff games over an 11 year playoff run from 1988-1999. He logged over the course of his career an additional 339 att 1442 yards 4.3 average and 16 TDs in the playoffs in addition to his regular season stats.

    Bills only. Thurman > OJ

    rush/att 2849 > 2123

    rush/yds 11,938 > 10,183

    yds/att 4.2 < 4.8

    rush/tds 65 > 57

    receptions 456 > 175

    rec/yds 4,341 > 1924

    rec/tds 74 > 12

    also of note #of acls 1 > 2

Thomas tore his ACL during pick-up basketball game while a Junior at Oklahoma State, After it was discovered that Thurman Thomas had an ACL injury that wasn't properly repaired, many NFL teams passed on him when draft time rolled around. Despite rushing for about 1,600 yards with a torn ACL while at Oklahoma State, he fell to the middle of the second round where he was finally selected by the Buffalo Bills. 12,074 rushing yards, 88 touchdowns, and an induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, College Football Hall of Fame, 5x Pro Bowler, 4x AFC Champion, 2x First-Team All-Pro, NFL MVP (1991), NFL 1990's Al-Decade Team, Pro Football Hall of Fame, I guess it turns out he didn't need more than one ACL after all.

  8. I keep seeing how Tampa should draft Winston because Jimbo Fisher runs a pro style offense and is the most NFL

ready. I disagree. Off the field issues aside this is how Jimbo Fisher's former Qb's careers have fared in the NFL thus far, EJ is not in good company.

  9. Yeah his 2 tds shouldn`t take that long.

How many rushing td's did the rb who has been branded nameless untill he learns to hold onto the football by Rex have last year? Oh wait None! He fumbled it. How about his longest rush ? 14 yards. So your bigger, faster, and stronger back did less than "The old guy". The two slowest rb's on the team lead the team in rushing yards probably because they are more consistent.

    2014 Buffalo Bill"s stats per NFL.com

  10. I saw 3 hall of fame players on the Bills let go ,when their skills faded. What the hell did Fred lead the league in ever. When your done Mediocre back on a year after year losing team. Could never be a # 1 back . That's why he shared. Maybe they should get a statue for him too. Time for him to spend time with the family or become a coach of some type. I can tell you Whaley wanted him gone.

Following the 1999 season Bruce Smith (age 36) and Thurman Thomas (age 33) were cut to get under salary cap of 62.2 million.

They joined Andre Reed who left as a free agent. John Butler's over spending on mediocre players like John Holecek resulted in a

roster purge of 31 players from the 1999 playoff squad over the next two years. Thurman went on to the Dolphins where he averaged

4.9 ypc before suffering a career ending knee injury against the Chargers. Bruce went to the Redskins where he put up 29 sacks

over the next 4 years. Following Bruce's release the Bills drafted their bigger, faster, and stronger replacement Erik Flowers who

managed to put up 5 sacks over the course of his 7 year career in the NFL.

Imo, you cannot judge a rb's production solely on ypc. since screens and passes to the flat are an extension of a running play. Last

season Fred had 207 touches rushing/ receiving offensively for a total of 1026 yards. That's roughly 4.96 yards per touch.

  11. 141 carries for 525 yds 3.7 ypc. 2tds 5 yes ,5 fumbles in 141 carries. 3 fumbles 2013 5 fumbles 2012 .

Your personal vendetta against Fred Jackson is almost as laughable. Your thread title clearly says

    "Freds rushing stats last year"

    And your Op? "141 carries for 525 yds 3.7 ypc. 2tds 5 yes ,5 fumbles in 141 carries. 3 fumbles 2013 5 fumbles 2012 ."

Freddy's fumbles last year: RUSHING 0, receiving 3, punt returns 2. 0 fumbles were lost, 4 were recovered, and 1 went out of

bounds. So that is 0 fumbles in 141 carries not 5. Punt return and receptions are not carries.

    http://www.nfl.com/player/fredjackson/2506871/careerstats

Fred has 27 career fumbles in 106 games. That is 15 rushing, 8 receiving, 1 on kick return, and 3 on punt returns. 11 fumbles lost.

    By comparison;

Adrian Peterson 31 fumbles in 104 games. 27 rushing, 4 receiving. 0 on kick returns and punt returns. 19 fumbles lost.

Demarco Murry 12 fumbles in 53 games. 8 rushing , 4 receiving. 0 on kick returns and punt returns. 8 fumbles lost.

CJ Spiller 17 fumbles in 70 games. 13 rushing, 1 receiving. 2 on kick returns and 1 on punt returns. 8 fumbles lost.

I don't think AP's 31 fumbles means that he sucks!

The say the offensive unit regressed under Marrone and Hackett is an understatement. What has become apparent to me is Doug

Marrone received too much credit for his perceived success while he was O.C of the Saint's. You criticize freddy for having 3.7 ypc,

while Spiller managed 3.8 ypc and the "nameless back" had 3.5 ypc behind the same line. In 2012 "the nameless one" had 115

carries for 564 yds. behind one of the best o-lines in football. So much for bigger faster stronger. Fred Jackson has been consistent

and dependable. He picks up 1st downs. He moves the chains and picks up tough yardage. Unfortunately a player's will and heart do

not show up in their stats. CJ is electrifying carrying the ball, but he is also inconsistent. Many here will remember the Cleveland

game in 2013 where EJ was hurt and we lost. That game CJ broke 54 yard touchdown run. CJ finished that game going 8 carries for

66 yds for 8.3 ypc and a touchdown. The 7 drive killing carries where his touches averaged 1.71 yards are what gets forgotten and

    overlooked.

  12. The o-line should improve with an nfl caliber coaching staff in place. As recently as 2012 this unit was considered a strength of the team. Thankfully the

quitter and the hack are gone. Roman will install his version of the spread offense which is a better fit for our personnel.

  13. LAST CALL.

still 80% think EJ can [win the job] be the starter in Buffalo in 2015

again .... IF you voted YES he can, but only for a game or 2, NOT the entire season then you have nothing to argue about with these #

Can Ej start? yes. Will he start? idk. I guess anything is possible... the Bills could also sign a FA Qb. and watch him slip on a mat on the way to the practice field. Just saying.
