I'm not comparing the two as head coaches. As for talent, successful coaches tend to have good talent. Gruden obviously had great defensive talent in Tampa that helped him win many of those games, just as Cameron had great defensive talent in Baltimore. Cam also had a starting quarterback in those 11 years that averaged less than three years of experience as a starter.
Again, my point wasn't to compare those two coaches. My point is fans following these searches shouldn't get too worked up over a hire based on how a coach is perceived or based on pure stats, especially when a coordinator is elevated to a head coaching position.
