That and their kicker actively boned them when the game was close which then caused them not to kick any more FGs all day.

Good point. And for the record, I took no joy in watching Hauschka struggle.

Gase is still there for one reason: It gives the Jets the best chance at drafting Lawrence. Any other coach might eke out 2-3 wins, forcing the Jets to stick with hang dog Darnold.

I think the Falcons will give the Jets a run for their money.

Last Pro Bowl for this "perennial Pro Bowl running back" was 2017.

Not saying he's washed up, but he's rushed for a total of 800 yards since leaving Pittsburgh.  Not the kind of guy I'd be trading for w/ a $13mm contract.

His trade value has to be shot at this juncture. The worse part is that even if they can get something for him, they still have Gase. I genuinely don't understand how the owners don't see him for the virus that he is.

I ran up 50$ into about 800 so far this week, and my original goal was to let it ride on the Bills tonight, but I'm starting to feel a little uneasy.  Where is everyone else at today?

If I was still a gambler, I'd jump on the Bills to cover tonight, in large part because the Titans haven't really had the opportunity to practice together in any real capacity.

But I'm not a gambler anymore because I sucked at it, and the former gambler says to stay away from a game that has a couple of relatively unprecedented variables which few could even hope to understand. Keep your winngs for a more reliable bet.

  4. I find this comment pretty suspect:

    4. Chiefs (previously No. 1; 4-1): They’re vulnerable when playing opponents that don’t have their full attention.

In what world does anyone think the Chiefs simply didn't give enough attention to playing a division rival who was on the ropes?

Cowboys down two scores. 500 yard game from dak and a loss incoming.

Bucky Brooks wrote a savage article on the Cowboy's D this pas week. Should be on NFL.com if you can find it. Basically, the players admit to not going 100% and he points out plays where they just let the Browns win because of their lack of effort.

That, and the Giants D is not half bad is why I liked Giants plus 9 1/2.

So I have Sunday ticket and CBS all access but I can’t watch the end of this KC-LV game because they switched to the giants game here in Brooklyn

Edits it’s blacked out On Sunday ticket

You should have Red Zone channel, yes? He'll always keep the close high-profile games on as much as possible, while simultaneously apologizing for showing the Jets.

I sure hope Allen can keep up this level of play, because the regression backlash Bills fans would experience would be very painful.

Bills fans: always waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Bills Fan: Yes, but can we pick up the pace and get to the part where she cheats on with the the best man.

  8. Frankly, I don't give a crap about this stuff until the NFL shows it's a money grab. I lost my mother to cancer when I was 11, but it's difficult for me to express how ridiculous the game looked with everyone draped in pink for a month. Having everyone draped in rainbows will look equally stupid, but hey...gotta move the merchandise.

I mean, from a purely marketing stand point it makes sense that an organization with such a great track record or having openly gay players would seek to be on the cutting edge....

For instance? Remember that time that player got drafted entirely for his sexual orientation and then was made a huge focus of the offseason and training camp even though he sucked at football?
Man, that equality really warmed my heart.

One thing I'll give the NFL credit for: they can have their icons of social justice, whether it's Kaep or Sam. They can even cut Jerry a deal to draft Sam so they have their icon.

But icon or not, if you suck at this sport, no one is keeping you on payroll. There's no justice in losing.

I'm not saying it can't be overcome, but I do think we're already not as good as the Chiefs.  I think we would have maybe a 30% chance of winning that game without being at this disadvantage, and now we're maybe around 15%.

I don't want the Bills to use it as an excuse, but I think it's fair to point out that it sucks.

I'm not sure how anyone can watch the first four weeks of NFL this year and think that under normal circumstances the Bills would have a 30% chance of beating the Chefs.

There is no question the Bills have shown defensive chinks in the armor with the underneath/TE stuff, where Mahomes thrives. And their rookie running back is a legit threat in run and pass. But the difference this year is that the Bills appear much better poised to go toe-to-toe from a scoring standpoint. If Allen continues his stellar play, there is no way you look at the game and think it has a high probability of being a loss.

McDermott  was all about "trust the process" and "creating the right culture."  This was a priority seemingly above talent and X's and O's.  This of course made many scoff at the notion but I give you the Bills and the Jets as exhibit A and B as to why it matters.  Tre White opts in and gets extended while CJ Mosley opted out Jamal Adams wanted out.  If a HC can't create positive relationships, build a strong locker room culture that the players buy into and develop young talent, that team is toast.  Maybe the Jets get it right with the next hire.

I would maintain one of the most important things McDermott did to make this happen when he first arrived was get Kyle Williams to buy in. He took one of the most respected guys in the locker room, explained his plan and essentially said "We get there faster if you're in."

You have to wonder how things would have worked out in NJ if Gase sat down with Adams in that regard.

Hey all, most of you dont know me, i am a Jets fan and i have been here for awhile. Gotta say i am very impressed with how your team has improved and been managed. I am definitely jealous, and i know my team is in the crapper, i expected it this season. I hope you end up winning the division and keep the Pats out of the playoffs. Allen has impressed me and i wish Darnold had the right coaching staff around him to keep him at Allens level. This season sucks, but its good to see other teams than the Pats dominating. Go Jets!

Thanks for the post. I'm curious what it was that had you thinking before the season started that the team would be in the crapper? I didn't expect them to be world beaters, but I didn't expect them to be this bad.  Were you suspect of the new OL?

NFL should add a week 18.

Adding an extra week doesn't work if one team has to catch up multiple games.

While I'm not a fan of pushing this game, I would much rather push it out than do something like throw another team in the mix. But that's based almost exclusively on the idea that having an extra week to rest and prepare for KC would be crunk.

Is that right? Crunk? Did I use that right?

    I'm so effin' old.

Still can’t help but think about the tragedy that was Alex Smith.

what were they, 8-3 on the day of the game he got injured?

would love it if he could make it back and do something.  Nothing against the other two guys.

Absolutely agree. It'd be a great story if he could make it back on the field.

Still think one of the oddest things was that his gruesome injury occurred on the anniversary of Theismann's gruesome injury.

Yep, pocket presence and arm strength. Watching Aaron stand in the pocket AND chuck the ball downfield with a simple flick of the wrist. Looked very familiar.

I know Jarvis Landry is not a quarterback, but if you watched his pass to OBJ this weekend from the 42, you get a sense of what a normal athlete has to do to throw a ball 42 yards. A full wind-up to let it go. Then you watch people like Rodgers and Allen snap their wrists for 60 yards and love what you're seeing.
