  1. I voted NO for the simple fact that Tannehill is not, and never will be a winner. Seen enough of him to think same thing i thought when he came out of A&M. Can be OK but never will be a top notch nor a winning QB.

This is by no means an endorsement of EJ. I just would rather have the unknown over the "known" of which is Ryan Tannenhill. I wonder if he knows all the teams and divisions by now... I think that was the most shocking thing i ever saw on HBO's Hard Knocks. When Tanny was in QB meeting room and had no idea which divisions teams were in...

  2.

 True. I for one can't wait to see which scary contacts Mario chooses for a playoff game.

I'm in the optical bizz and carry "wild eyes" which is the company of contacts Mario uses... The coolest ones are the "White out" ones.... Looks like u have no eye color! When ppl have tried them on, its kinda spooky looking... Imagine if Mario wore them???? As if he's not scary enough as is for any Ofensive Lineman!!!

  3. I'm actually more excited that we kept him away from the Pats than I am to see him on our team.

That's first thing i thought! He'll get ajet sweep or 2 a game, catch a screen or 2, and play slot in 3 WR sets. He will be an asset on KO and PR, but nowadays, KO returns are such rarities with all the touchbacks.

On Pats, they would find a way to FULLY utilize him and he could have become the beast ppl were thinking he'd become when we was in Minny. Here, he'll be a big play type guy but too many mouth's to feed on O, especially if we land Clay. This is gonna be a run oriented O, Shaddy is gonna get 20 touches a game and then there is the guy we traded up for and gave up this yr #1 pick for... Sammy... Sammy will be focal point of O. Percy will certainly help keep D's honest will a proven game changer on other side, which we lack with Woods. Woods is a competent starter but is not a guy D's fear. Solid, possession WR type. Percy can stretch a D and burn u

  4. Dareus will get done and will get a contract more along the lines of what McCoy got in Tampa then what Suh got.

Im not worried about Dareus at all actually and think he is the one person the Bills would use the franchise tag on if needed. The only concern would be if Dareus just didnt want to be with the Bills but i dont see that being the case so Im confident he will get extended at some point. Players also seem to love playing for Rex so playing one year under him if a deal doesnt get done before this season can only help as well.

Cap is also expected to really jump next few years with new TV deal kicking in.

You really think he get get Mccoy money more so than Suh money??? I highly disagree.... Agents also know the cap goes up, meaning, more $$$$. I would take Marcel over but for arguments sake, lets call them pretty even... Why would he take less than let's say JJ Watt's deal when his value on open market could easily be AT LEAST Suh;s deal...

Teams drool over getting DT like Dareus. He can fit ANY scheme, 3-4 or 4-3. Is space eater and great vs run (which is what is most important factor in DT) AND he is excellent pass rusher from the inside which is very rare nowadays. Very few DT's get 10 sacks

  5. With HUGE $$$ already devoted to DL, and now re-signing Hughes to 5 yr 45mil, its gonna very VERY hard to lock up Mr. Big Stuff next yr. Maybe Mario re-structures or something but we have a ton of dough tied up in DL already and with Suh about to get more $$$ than JJ Watt did, Dareus is probably looking at those deals and salivating.

Hopefully it can be done, but IMO, if I had choice to lock up an elite DT like Dareus and had to chose which one to sign, it would be no brainer, Dareus over Hughes.

At least we are a yr away from this situation and so many things can happen but it was the first thing that came to mind after seeing the money Suh is about to get and us re-signing Hughes.

Hughes would be ALOT easier to replace than Dareus.

  6. The fact that McCoy is relatively close to signing a contract after reportedly not wanting to go to Buffalo is a great sign, IMO. It would seem as though the initial shock factor has worn off and he may be coming around. It likely means that he will report when required. Hopefully he plays with a chip on his shoulder and makes sure that the Bills Brass come out looking like geniuses and making sure that the Eagles know the Bills got the better deal for allowing this trade to happen.

Play with "chip" on his shoulder.... pun intended or not??? HAHa

  7. Is D. Harris REALLY needed??? LB seems pretty set with Brown and Bradham and the OLB are technically both rush ends who will be Mario and Hughes and Lawson was very serviceable in his shared time with Hughes as OLB (his more natural position) in Pettine's D than he ever fit with Schwartz D as DE.

Trading Kiko was smart, and we got cheap, young, productive LB's anyway with Bradham and Brown and we have done well in past few seasons at developing rookie at that position thru draft in Kiko and Brown respectively.

With extra money we just spent at RB by getting a stud in Shady, i'd MUCH rather sign Iupati or a TE than spend on another LB.

  8. Could do far worse. I like this better than Mccown

Agreed... With the FA's out there, not many good options and with Shady in the picture, i'm sure Rex sees Cassel as a capable game manager ala Alex Smith in KC and can help EJ (if EJ beats him out for starting gig.)

However, i dont see the QB situation as "over". We will either bring in someone else via FA or use 2nd or 3rd rounder on one of the 2nd tier of QB;s: Hundley, Petty, Grayson

  9.

That's pretty much it right there imo.

He gets the ball, the cost to re-sign him skyrockets. Call me cynical, but I have a hunch that this decision factored in and was made ahead of time by the organization, in general.

If so, then they may have saved a few bucks, bucks that many teams would gladly exchange for a SB. Maybe they thought that they'd win from the onset with less of a struggle.

U can take it 1 step further, and them not "wanting" him to be Superbowl MVP cuz how he would have handled all the crazy media... Maybe they WANTED Wilson being the MVP!

  10. I am totally with you on this. It will be interesting to see him in camp this year. Hopefully all the criticism motivated him to work in areas he can improve.

System or no system, u cant teach accuracy. He laid WR's out to dry SO often on simple routes. When he throws short crossing routes or check downs, he seems to "guide the ball" or "push the ball" rather than just throw the ball normally. He lacks too many of the basic skills it requires to be an NFL QB.

Can he be better utilised by a diff OC and coach??? Yes. But his weaknesses are still there and outside of a nice play or 2 here and there. He just cant be missing on so many of the "basic plays".

    He is not the answer.

I still think Cutler is the best QB for this team. He is a gun slinger and will make some bad plays but has the arm to make all the throws. Has experience, been to playoffs. I think Rex would be the PERFECT coach for this kid. Cutler needs that coddling and Rex is the type of coach who can take ALOT of pressure off the QB in pressers and interviews and divert the attention to him. A boring guy like Trestman never had anything interesting to say so the attention cant be taken away from Cutler. Rex would be his biggest fan and treat the kid the a son. Working with some nice talent at WR, and having championship caliber D who be a great situation.

I doubt we get him especially with his situation with Kromer but Kromer is NOT the OC... Roman is. If we can make this trade work, i'd take him over any rookie, FA or other potential trade target who may be avaiable (bradford, Foles etc).

We need someone that can WIN NOW... We have the D and as we are gonna see this offseason. Even the marginal guys are hard to keep cuz teams will overpay for guys that were part of GREAT D's. I'm talking about Searcy (not Hughes who hopefully we re-sign but also will be hard cuz we made him a star). They have already said they wont be able to spend big on a safety after Aaron Williams deal last yr and the truth is, Searcy will probably end up with that kinda deal too. Is he as good as Aaron?? No way, but he was still a solid role player for us that's gonna get paid like a full time starter. Hopefully Duke can take over and use Graham as the 3rd safety who sees field a ton in nickel situations in this D. We used alot more 3 safety looks with Pettine than we did with Schwartz.

  11. I'd MUCH rather have a "bully" on my team than guys who re wife beaters, drug addicts etc... Their are so many criminals in this league and ppl are worried about a BULLY???? Didnt Rex say he wanted to bully teams????? It would be nice to see our OL bully opponents DL and actually pick up some yards on the ground.

I think he makes a GREAT fit for Roman's O. He's a guy that can attack DL and create holes for RB. That's ALOT more than we can say about ANY of of guards last yr! At least 1 HUGE hole will be filled with a low priced FA before FA has even begun! ( Will prob be a deal close to if not the vet minimum and easy to cut if it doesnt work out).

He's only 31... Still has few yrs of good football if he has kept up with his body and didnt get lazy this past yr. By signing him now, even if he got out of football shape, he has PLENTY of time to get ready for training camp.

IMO, GREAT low cost, possible solid reward signing !

  12. i would love it for the simple reason that in week 1, crazy things happen.. Everyone hyped to start new yr and can shock Pats early AND most importantly, when u get a Thursday game mid season, u get hit with that short week of practice, but get the mini bye after it. This way, being week 1, the "short" week means nothing cuz all TC u are preparing for regular season and team we need to be most prepared for is Pats. Then after a tough bruising game, we STILL get that mini bye week heading into week 2.

Short week doesnt hurt in week 1

  13. There is no doubt the Jets need him more than the Bills do. Interesting though - Revis, Gilmore, Graham, Leo, and Robey? That's one way to try to to beat Brady.

If he came here, with our secondary already being above average, it would be probably one of the top in NFL. If it costs us not re-signing Hughes, then so be it. Having a complete lock down corner and then a real up and comer like Gilmore on other side and the depth we would have back there would make more impact than Hughes. Rex will blitz more than Schwartz did. We already have Mario, Kyle, and Marcel. It doesnt take an "elite" talent to put up some SOLID numbers as the "other guy".

If we sign Revis, sign a journeyman Lb/ DE hibrid (which Rex would hand pick for HIS D) our D is tops in NFL. Not to mention a healthy Kiko!

Then on O, somehow , someway find a viable option at QB. sign VET OL that we know can hold down his spot. Let the other young guys battle it out for other OL spots and hopefully a 2-3rd rounder used as well on line. Find a TE who can stretch the field a bit.

This team is not far from being a premier team and is Rex is right in saying ownership isnt gonna be shy to open the wallets.. then we WILL be legit...

We have plenty of young talent on this roster. Even if we had 1st pick overall and could get Jameis or Marriota.... With the way the window closes in NFL these days and it being so hard to retain guys once they start making name for themselves. Our window to win with a dominant D is the next 2-3 yrs. We MUST get the offense respectable cuz landing a FA like Revis in the old days would be a pipe dream. Now its a true possibility.

  14. I am so sick of NFL analysts grilling Whaley on the Sammy trade. Yeah Beckham had a phenomenal year with NYG but look who he had throwing him the ball! Eli got the ball to his playmaker. Orton and EJ could not do that regularly enough! I would love to see if Eli was throwing the ball to Sammy. I don't think that there would be any debate then!

If we got a gunslinger like Cutler, he would make a star out of Sammy and Woods. Yeah he would have some bad interceptions, but I think our defense would be able to recover. Get Sammy someone who can get him the ball so we can stop listening to idiots criticize the trade.

It's not just the QB play which is obviously a huge factor. We were a defensive team that was cautious on O and our game plans were very different from the Giants who got torched on D week in week out and only chance of winning was taking shots in passing game especially after Jennings got hurt and they had a worse running game than we did and that;s hard to do!

  15. Put the coockoo back in the clock. He's either done or coming back to a loaded Denver team. He would never ever come to Buffalo.

I agree he wont come to Buffalo, but i think Manning is the type of guy to be loyal and either stay in Denver OR retire. He doesnt want to be like Favre and ruin his legacy by having too many teams. He's the like the Kelly/ Marino old school type and only reason he even left Indy was they had 1st overall pick and the surest QB since.... HIM! If Indy was drafting 12 or anyone for that matter outside of top 2, he would still be there.

If u look back when he went to Denver, and even for that matter look at Denver squad for next yr which will surely lose 1 of the Thomas's. We have a BETTER overall team than they do.

ANY RB CAN PRODUCE when teams have to prepare for Peyton. Freddy as our vet 3rd down back. Dixon as the hammer and either CJ/ Bryce or a mid round draft pick) can easily be the "cj anderson" role. When Peyton went to Denver, D. Thomas was NOT better than Sammy at that point. He played in a triple option in college and had that yr with Tebow where he did produce but again, was in a wacky O. Peyton made him what he is and groomed him into a top 5 WR. Same goes for Orange Julius. He may be a freak athlete, but it sure makes it alot easier to produce with Peyton as your QB and the other versatile weapons around him. Sammy could EASILY put up D. Thomas #'s if Peyton was our QB next yr. Woods could easily play the E. Sanders role in that offense and i think at this point in Welker career, Hogan is a BETTER slot guy and would be the Brandon Stockley option for Peyton. We dont have the ideal TE, but that can be found but Chandler would suffice and is good at seam routes anyway.

The key would would be fixing the OL. Dont forget, Denvers D was no where near as good as ours when Peyton signed there. Now, after having 2 yrs to build it... They got some good players on D but i'd still take our D without hesitation than Denver's D.

It WONT happen cuz Peyton just isnt that type of guy. He basically did a Joe Montana type move when he left for KC after being hurt and them already having Steve Young in place would played outstanding in his absense and couldnt keep both so they went with Young. Same with Manning... he knew he still had something left and proved he did. He may not have won a SB in Denver, but got them there last yr, and unlike late in yr, they looked like a front runner again this yr.

If he's ready to tie up the cleats or if he decides he wants to give it another shot. The only place we will try is Denver.

  16. This is a little out there and would require some work from Whaley, but would you make this move?

    1. Trade Dareus to Tampa or Tennessee for pick 1 or 2. (Dareus is a former #3 pick who is proven himself recently)

    2. Take Mariota or Winston pending what pick you get.

    3. Pick up "Donkey Kong" Suh through Free Agency to replace Dareus.

The above may not be able to happen as both Tampa and Tennessee are in dire need for a QB. However, Oakland may deal their 3rd pick if one of the 2 above slip for some reason.

Biggest issue with this is that our D is built to win NOW.... I have loved Marriota since his first snaps at Oregon but neither him or Winston are ready to lead a playoff charge. We need a vet QB. Even more so with Rex in the fold. He's got a better D than he ever had in NY.

If he brings in Roman to be OC, i hope his ties to Iupati may help us recruit him. If we sign a FA like Iupati, and let the our other young guys battle for the other guard spot and hopefully draft another. Our OL would be much improved.

Then, we swing a deal for a QB like Cutler, draft a mid round RB to fill void if Spiller leaves. (nowadays its easy to find mid round RB that can produce big) and we have at least a middle of the pack O, to go along with a D that is top 5 (possibly even BETTER!).
