I have a hard time understanding some people's borderline ignorance. Now, whether you especially like the hire of Doug Marrone or not, why is it inconceivable to so many that someone who hasn't been to a Superbowl could become a successful NFL head coach?! I don't get it.
He should have some success somewhere! He made a bad college team in a bad conference a mediocre college team in a bad conference. A .500 winning percentage is not all that exciting. Excuse me for not rolling out the red carpet

I'm seriously at my breaking point with this organization. It's too stressful to be a bills fan. I keep getting let down. Russ promised change but this is the kind of choice they made with Chan. I'm left with the feeling that we didn't go for the top guys once again and are left with the no-name coach. We are still a joke of an organization. #SameOldBills

We'll be looking for a new coach in 2016. Same crap every damned time.
At which point we won't be able to get a good coach after 3 more losing seasons and the threat of the team moving at the end of the 7th year in our Ralph Wilson Stadium lease agreement. This was our one shot. We have good talent on both sides of the ball and things were looking promising. I'm shocked and saddened. What a bust

What makes this harder to swallow is that Lovie wanted to coach us. He has a winning record in a tough division and has been to the Super Bowl despite a bad qb. But we would rather have an unproven coach with a .500 record in a terrible college football conference? I don't get it. Maybe the Bills are planning on moving to the big east conference. They might have a shot vs that low end competition. This is a sad day for bills fans

he was "OC" at New Orleans so he should have some NFL contacts. Maybe he will bring Sean Peyton in as OC :-)
He was a glorified offensive line coach with the Saints. Sean Peyton was the HC and OC and called all of the plays. Don't be fooled by the title

I know nothing about the guy but I'm guessing if Smith or Whisenhunt were chosen you would have complained the Bills picked a loser retread coach.
No if we picked Lovie we would be picking a winner retread with a lot of credibility and a great defensive mind. With Marrone we get no credibility and no offensive or defensive pedigree. I'm shocked and disappointed

Well Russ was true to his word. This is definitely DIFFERENT. I don't think the old regime would ever be dumb enough to go after a college coach with a mediocre record in a bad conference. Oh wait, isn't that how we got CHAN?

Chip must have said the Bills had no chance so they made a snap decision and went for Cleveland's backup plan (Marrone) before they could. Chip will probably end up in Philly and Browns will be in trouble

Convincing teenagers to come to Syracuse is one thing. Running an NFL team is another. Of which he has no experience. And you guys are excited? I'm shocked. This guy isn't an offensive OR defensive genius. Unless they have a top notch OC and DC to announce as coming too then we are screwed

Marrone was the consolation prize for Cleveland if they couldn't get Chip Kelly. Why would we want Cleveland's backup plan? I just don't get this at all. Who is going to be OC and DC?

With Marrone we have no OC or DC. Is this for serious? He wasn't a play calling OC for the Saints. I never even thought this was a possibility. I'm shocked

If the Bills are no longer under consideration by Kelly, hopefully he's informed the Bills of that so they can move on.

I'm enjoying every minute of it....something tells me even if we don't land Chip we WILL make the right hire for the right reasons, and I feel like things are on the upswing - big time
A lot of the feedback regarding Russ and Whaley have me optimistic for the first time in a long time. It feels good!

I hate when another team's backup does good because then it's "let's trade for this guy!" We don't want any team's backup, especially a backup behind ponder!

just read that chip kelly will likely go to cleveland, also ray horton too. Why in the world does Cleveland land these guys and we cannot?? What do they offer that we dont have or cant have??

It's all going to depend on which coordinator Lovie or Whiz bring with them. If Lovie can get a great OC then I'll be happy. I'd probably be happy with Whiz if he brought Horton but it sounds like that's not even an option from some of the things I've read so who else could he bring? So my vote goes for Lovie assuming he can land a good OC (Jackson, schurmur, turner, etc)

The worst part of this Whisenhunt crap is that he probably won't be coming with Horton. The ONLY thing going for the Cards the past few years has been their defense. But now that Reid is going to KC, it looks like Horton will end up HC in Arizona. So who the heck will be the DC for the Bills?? We are actually WORSE OFF than last year if Horton isn't part of the Whisenhunt staff. I would take Chan and Wanny over Whisenhunt and some random DC

Brian Kelly who actually took 2 programs from nothing to the national championship game! Who was Oregon before Chip Kelly? Lots of coaches do that and actually have success. A .500 record in a terrible conference is not a success in my book. If Syracuse was playing for the national championship tomorrow then we would be talking
