You guys are forgetting that Syracuse was bad last year and had a terrible start to this year. They were 2-4! If he didn't end the season 6-1 he probably gets fired from Syracuse! Now just because he won some games against terrible big east competition with his job on the line he's a great coach? I'm not sold
-
I'm only five pages into this thread, and while I don't know much about Marrone, it is particularly clear to me that the Bills made this pick specifically to piss you off.
LOL...keep reading
-
A lot of you wanted Lovie Smith...WHY? He was a decent coach, and nothing more. Did the Bears ever overachieve? not in the slightest.. Now lets get that QB we need, and this franchise will be on the rebound. Go Bills.
Yes, Lovie went to the SUPERBOWL with REX GROSSMAN! If that's not overachieving I don't know what is
-
-
Smith was my choice but I'm not going to flip out here like many are.
I wish I wasn't so amped up but I'm really at my breaking point with this team. I really felt like we were close. A good coach like Lovie and maybe a good OC and we could have been a contender. I feel like with Marrone we are back to a rebuilding phase
-
Some dude namedTom Coughlin...think he has won a Super Bowl or two
Wrong. Coughlin is a retread. He coached the Jaguars before the Giants
-
What would Lovie or Whisenhunt hirings have been?
Lovie is a proven winner and defensive genius and players and coaches and media alike were all shocked that he was fired after going 10-6. Future hall of famer Devon Hester is so upset that he is contemplating retirement. I think that speaks volumes for Lovie's credibility around the league
-
Same old Bills like all those other first time NFL coaches that they've pulled from college?
No as in going for the uninspiring no-name guy they can get on the cheap. And I wouldn't be bragging about first time NFL coaches from college. Besides Harbaugh (who was a great NFL qb for years and had credibility coming from a great coaching family) name another first time coach from the college ranks that has done well in the NFL.
-
Whats with all the negativity. Do you all have a crystal ball that can see into the future. Lets see who he hires for his staff first and play a few games before you make any assumptions that he is going to be a bad coach. I for one is going to be cautiously optimistic about this hire because he could turn out to be a good coach but who knows I am not not very good at seeing into the future as the rest of you guys think you are.
Are you sure you are a Bills fan? We have seen it all before. Too many years of losing has made us pessimistic, and rightfully so. This hiring has #SameOldBills written all over it

You believe everything on the internet?...yes, it wouldn't be on the internet if it wasn't true, and where did you hear that? the internet.....Bon Jour!!!
No but I believe Adam Schefter when he says its a done deal and then NFL.com says the same thing. You guys are just waking up now. At 5:30 am the news was flying around and we didn't know what to believe but when these sources reported it then yes I believed it
-
You are somehow implying that the timing is suspicious as if the Bills are trying to hide or sugarcoat the hire. Which is nuts or juvenile. I gave you the benefit of the doubt.
I asked if they possibly leaked it to grab the headlines before the NHL story came out. Russ is a marketing guy. Is that so far fetched? Smh
-
I'm pretty sure you are 12 years old.
Because I said that the deal is not done yet? It's not. What's your point?
Not a done deal yet. That's what Howie Simon said on GR this morning
+1 exactly
-
Or it was announced when the deal got done. What the hell are you trying to say?
The deal isn't done yet. It was leaked at an opportune time
-
Like that's a bad thing that he won't be calling the plays
The guy was just hired 4 hours ago and you're complaining that he doesn't hv an OC or DC...unbelievable
Use your brain. I'm complaining that he has no credibility. They wouldn't even trust him to call plays as OC in New Orleans. Meanwhile someone like Lovie is a defensive genius and it would be easy to find a good OC to pair with him. Marrone is a nobody
-
Well, at least he got the NHL going again on his first day in the job.
The announcement of Marrone came at a strange time. Were they trying to beat the NHL announcement headlines or did they want this unpopular decision to get mixed in there with the good news from the NHL?

Cuse ranked 22nd last year with 555 carries. I like what this says for Spiller. Get him 300+ carries and 50+ catches.
I'd get rid of Choice and get a RB with 4th or 5th round pick. Give them 400+ carries.

At least we will have the start of a full hockey season to look forward to after the Bills lose the first few games this year and are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs by November
-
Dear Todd,
You mad bro? We can't afford anyone else. You didn't really think we were going to end up with any of those credible coaches, did you? Mediocrity is our goal, not championships. Plus this completes my regionalization plan. We now have fans from Toronto all the way to the Finger Lakes! Next up, we will be changing our name from the Buffalo Bills to the Western NY'ers. Go team!
Signed,
Russ Brandon, emperor of WNY
-
He beat UConn so he is the only Bills coach in a long time to have a winning record vs "New England"
-
Analytics = saving money on the cheapest coach ?
25-25 college coach ? Feels wrong
But he beat Stony Brook and Temple this year. He must be a good coach!!
-
-
but Lovie Smith has a positive reputation with NFL players, and could have attracted some free agents here.
Lovie = #Credibility!!!
Marrone has none
-
He was highly recommended by Sean Payton and Bill Parcells. Does everyone love him now?
Bill Cowher highly recommends Chain Gailey
-
The Saints led the league in offense while he was their OC, now the key is finding the right DC who can get our guys to play to their potential! Go Bills!
Sean Peyton was the HC and OC. Marrone never called the plays. I don't give him any of the credit for those stats
Bills hire Doug Marrone to be Head Coach
