Cassel didn't even play in college because he was Leinart's backup. and we saw how well Leinart did here. so uhhhh
-
ehh, last season didn't look all that interesting if those were the highlights. some of those tackles were just guys falling on top of people. there weren't any harder hits?
-
Yea but where does Revis want to go. A) back to NY, B) back to the coach that made him great (Rex), C) or stick with NE where he finally got a ring.
It's between those 3 teams. I don't think the Dolphins have a chance
-
I think Grayson is who Grayson is. He's already playing at his highest potential, which isn't all that great. Petty has a higher ceiling but is also a bigger risk. Tough call, not sold on either of them but here we are in a position where we need a QB and there aren't any good free agents or guys in the draft (unless you are picking 1st)
-
I get your sentiment. But trades aren't that easy to make. Someone has to be on the block worth trading for. In your Foles scenario, what would you give up if you were Whaley? And what leads you to believe Foles is that good?
In the other thread I laid out a scenario where Mariotta drops out of the top 5 and the Eagles trade their 1st and 2nd and next year's 1st to move up. We could grab Foles for our 2nd and another pick next year based on how well he plays. So in the end all it would cost Philly to move up would be next year's 1st which is pretty cheap if they think Mariotta is their QB for the next decade
-
I don't think Tennessee is in the Mariotta market. That trade was assuming they pass on him and he ends up falling to like 5 or 6Then tampa or tennesee ends up with no qb...one of those two would move back to 20 where they would have no qb and basically would tank next season.
-
Foles would be a solid pickup but I don't see philly getting mariotta so they would have to keep foles.
Philly could trade this year's 1st and 2nd and next yr's 1st or something to make it happen. We could give them our 2nd and another pick based on performance for Foles. So basically it would only cost them their 1st next year to move up. That's not a bad deal for them if they think Mariotta is their QB for the next decade. I think RG3 cost the Skins 3 firsts if I'm not mistaken

It's hard to say as each situation will be different but I feel as though we need a QB more than any other team. So whatever the going rate is for any of the available guys plus 1. If it's at all possible to get a Bradford or Foles then make it happen. I don't want to see us sit back and have the Texans trade for one of those guys for example. If there really is no one good available then get Sanchez and Locker and let them battle it out with EJ but keep the trade talks going as those other guys or better might be available mid season."At all costs" easy to say but who do you envision them going after and what do you envision as "all costs"?
The Eagles might be crazy enough to trade up for Mariota so the Bills better be in on that if it happens. Give them some picks for Foles and then the Eagles can use those picks to trade up. Work all of the angles and be ready to deal if the opportunity arises.
Bottom line is if there is a way to get better at QB then the Bills better be doing all they can to make it happen. No more lets give EJ another shot and see what happens and if he fails we have this crappy veteran as a backup. And If I see another team trade to get a good QB and we don't then I'm going to be upset. Get a QB in FA, trade for a QB, draft a QB. And let the best man win
-
Sign a top OL guy and get a QB at all costs. Then if any big name guys become available (Revis, AP) go after them hard. Spend to the cap max on short term deals for these stars. If Revis wants 20 mil a year then oh well sign him up for the next 2 yrs. Win now modeSo what does "all in" look like to you?
-
It better be a big splash. We have a team that can win now. No more Kyle Orton and Chris Williams type signings. Time to go all in
-
Take a look? The entire league took a look for 13 seasons and decided he wasn't any good. This guy is just another McCown, no thanks
-
If they were looking at McCown and Locker then I'm assuming they will still go after Locker and try and get another veteran guy like Cassel or Hoyer
-
^^EJ isn't the worst QB in the league. Now that McCown is on the Browns

Stevie>Me>Hogan>Anyone else we have

@KevinMassare: According to source: the Bills "are still very much on the hook for EJs rookie deal, would make no sense to let him go right now
Just like any of us with at least half a brain could conclude, they owe EJ money from his rookie deal so they aren't cutting him without giving him a shot to compete. He's at least an adequate backup.
-
This blows up LMO's story that they would cut EJ. That made no sense anyhow. They still have to pay him so why not give him a shot to compete? Even if they bring in 3 more QB's I still want to see EJ compete with them and let the best man winToday's edition

If some of the inside sources are correct about the Bills front office checking the forums and social media then I hope they see these reactions and realize how happy we are that we didn't get this bum. We really dodged a bullet there. We deserve a real QB. Make it happen
-
Get Foles and AP and we can host a playoff game or two this year.
-
Sanchez, Hoyer, Locker > Cassel
-
YESSS!!!
This is great news. Ranks right up there with Marrone leaving and Orton retiring. This forces us to actually make an effort at getting some better players. Plus now that's one less team that needs a QB so the other FA's will have us at the top of their list. Oh happy day
-
I'll give a thought to those poor ex NFL players the day there isn't a needy vet in this country.
Totally agree. For every ex NFL millionaire there are hundreds of vets dealing with disabilities, PTSD, depression, unemployment, etc. Life is tough for everyone
-
He won't be a "franchise qb" but he's better than friggin Derp McCown
-
McCown sucks and is an obvious DOWNGRADE from Orton. The numbers don't lie. EJ was a 3 yr project when they drafted him so cutting him after yr 2 makes no sense. This is nonsense and is going to hurt Leroi's credibility on this board if proven false
-
I appreciate Leroi passing along his info, but in that scenario McCown would get cut. EJ and Locker would easily beat him out. McCown is a 35 yr old trainwreck of a backup. I'm not an EJ fan but I know he is a competitor and would outplay both of those guys enough to win the job. McCown is a joke and always has been
Can EJ be the starting QB for the Bills

he CAN be. but WILL he or will he be GOOD?
