Anyone else getting cold feet and thinking Nassib is going to be the next Trent Edwards in Buffalo?
-
When they got Kolb everyone just assumed they did so because they didn't feel there was a QB in the draft worthy of a top 10 pick. Now the consensus is they are back to drafting a QB at 8? That makes no sense. If they are dead set on getting Nassib then just trade down and get 2 picks for the price of 1. Worst case someone trades their whole draft to jump ahead of you to grab Nassib at the end of the 1st and you can still get Barkley or Manuel. Either way you look at it, if they don't trade down then they are stupid. The Kolb signing gives them the flexibility to do so imo

HURRAY!!! maybe they aren't as dumb at OBD as we make them out to be
-
Thats not necessarily true though. Yes, in recent years several QB's have come in right away and made a huge impact on their team. However, that is still NOT the preferred choice among most teams in the NFL who would rather have a young QB sit a year or two and learn before throwing him into the fire. And with todays new rookie cap, teams can afford to let rookies earn their starting spot rather than just give it to them by default out of the gate. Like in Seattle last year, they got Flynn and drafted Wilson. They didnt hand the job to Wilson, he just flat out earned it. Then look at a team like the Niners, they took Kap but he sat until he got an opportunity to show he was ready to take over.
So I don't think anyone we take at 8 will be given the job, they will have to beat out Kolb and TJ to be the starter week 1 this year. In fact, if we take a guy 8 I would say it will be a long shot he is a week 1 starter given the veteran presence at QB on this team.
If you draft someone that high you expect them to come right in and start. We aren't in a position to have our #1 pick sitting on the bench. We have too many holes on our team. With a top 10 pick we need to get someone that will make us a better team instantly

I don't want either, definitely not Rosoe Parish...uh I mean Tavon Austin
-
I am all for a QB, but I would not call it our biggest need anymore. I would say our biggest need is a tie over several positions, including QB. But the Kolb signing and resigning of T Jax gives us a little more flexibility at 8 in this years draft. Not that either of those guys are long term solutions, however, Kolb still has some upside if we can protect him. I want a new QB as bad as anyone, however, I still think many guys are gonna be there in the 2nd that grade out similar to anyone we would take at 8. My ideal scenario is to keep making people think we will take someone like Tavon or Dee and get a trade down to about the middle of the first and pick up an extra 2nd and maybe some change so we can still grab a QB and fill an additional hole potentially with that extra pick(s).
I do however think the 2 most likely scenarios will be a QB or a trade back. However, if a guy like Dee slips or if they really do love Tavon (I doubt it, he is not the type or WR Nix has been coveting) then those could be the picks too. I dont think they really covet Austin, TJ Graham is kind of a poor mans Austin in terms of the style of WR and TJ had a great first camp. They don't want another midget to pair with Stevie and TJ and prefer a guy who is open even when he's not open as Nix would say.
I agree that we don't NEED a QB. But that dummy Buddy Nix will go after one anyhow after failing to take one the past few years. I don't like having a GM that is desperate. Could lead to reaching for a guy that might not be the best fit. But anyhow, why get Kolb if we are getting a guy at pick 8? If you pick someone that high then you expect them to come in to be an immediate starter and difference maker. If you want a guy to develop then get them in the 2nd. That's my take on the situation
-
didn't you already post this and it got locked? it was the same exact topic. I'll post again what I posted there, but with an extra pick in the 1st the Jets can gamble a little bit. Sanchize is terrible, if they can get Geno at 9 or 13 I think they will go for it
-
It's been rumored that the Jags want Barkley with the 1st pick of round 2. If the Bills want him then they need to get him somewhere in round 1 whether that is pick 8 or by trading down or trading back into the end of the 1st. I don't think Barkley or Nassib are worth #8 by a long shot. If the Bills are that undecided then I'd trade down and pick up an extra 2nd round pick and still have at least one or both of those guys available at the end of the 1st
-
I really hopes it's ON LIKE A MOFO but it looks like they didn't include Thurman in on it so it probably won't be
-
Because the Jets need a qb and with 2 first round picks they can take a gamble on one. They have been reported to be interested in Nassib. Could all be a smokescreen but we'll see
-
I'd still trade down. Worst case and Jets take Nassib then Geno and Barkley are still there plus we can get an extra pick. Nassib isn't better then either of those guys let alone either of those guys PLUS another starter
-
Trade back!
-
So the info I had isn't the most credible. I usually don't post false info on here so I hope to god I'm right. If im not - dont kill the messenger. I truly think we do play cleveland in the home opener, though!
post up what you got. we won't come after you with pitchforks if you are wrong

Why is he blogging for an Eagles forum? Are we supposed to forget how hard he is campaigning to be in Philly if we draft him? I know a part of me would wonder if he really wants to be here or not
-
end of Nov for Miami? (I hope)
-
Doesn't surprised me to see a decent score from Woods. He always seemed like a relatively bright guy to me in interviews.
Would love to get him in Round 2. I think he's the best WR in this draft
-
So that it would have been well over his head, and even further behind him? It's a read/judgement call... he nobly took the blame, but looked like a horrible throw no matter what. Graham sounds pretty smarty, bet he got a 20 or more.
If he ran in front of the safety then it was a TD. Because he didn't the safety stepped in front and it was an INT. TJ's response after the game was "that's probably why I don't play very much." He doesn't sound that smart to me. He should stick to track and field
-
what was TJ Grahams? I'm trying to figure out how smart you need to be to know to run IN FRONT of the safeties on a slant pattern in the endzone

Not sure if this was posted yet, but EJ Manuel was on the Dan Patrick show and he said he feels very confident he will go in Round 1 to the Eagles, Bills, or Jets

If the package is big enough, you take it and then trade back up 5 or 10 spots for EJ Manuel. The net should still be positive.
Or.....what HE said above....
EJ Manuel was on the Dan Patrick show and he said he feels very confident he will go in Round 1 to the Eagles, Bills, or Jets -
Did anyone hear the Mark Anderson interview on the John Murphy show? Anderson is now an OLB. He goes to the linebacker meetings and his position coach is the linebacker's coach. Sounds to me like we are running a 3-4 even though they haven't publicly said so
-
Let's give them our 8 for their 30 plus their 2nd round pick plus next year's first and second and then we can use our extra picks to trade back up again lol.
But seriously if playmakers like Milner, Patterson, or Tavon Austin are still there at #8 then you know our pick is going to get quite valuable to some of those teams who pick in the 20's. I think we have an opportunity to trade back and pick up a few extra picks and still get Nassib!
-
in another trade thread, i threw out there, trading with TB at #13, get a couple 3rds(?) then take #13 and trade that to ATL for a 2nd and 3rd(?)
Yep I like that idea too, assuming who the Falcons want will be there at 13. Sounds like they might be trying to get Milner so they will need to be in the top 10 for sure though

I think we really should do something like this. I like what the Seahawks have done. Let's be the Orgeon of the NFL. Different uni's every sunday!!!

I hope for Marrone's sake they get the "guy they wanted" and he ends up being good. He might end up being the best coach in the world but if they get a bum QB with this pick then he will be out in 3 yrs and the coaching carousel will continue in Buffalo
