  1. I hate predictions, and I try not to make a lot of them. But I will leave you with one more thought -- and I feel pretty good about this one:

I saw the Buffalo Bills play this week. Yes, they are 0-3, with a new coach and a quarterback who is getting an unbelievable amount of pressure. But when I look at this team objectively, I see very few glaring weaknesses and a lot of strengths -- playmakers on defense and some great playmakers on offense. Eric Moulds is back. The Pro Bowl receiver looks big, fast, dynamic and angry. He's got it all going for him. Drew Bledsoe needs to eliminate some mistakes, like any quarterback does, but he looks good. They have a good situation at running back.

I think the Bills will get back into the hunt. You can see what they're trying to do and the plan looks good. As they settle in and get used to the new coach and the new system on offense, I would not be surprised to see them really start clicking and get things together.

Just file that away until maybe Week 10. We'll revisit at that time and see how it looks. No guarantees, of course!

MAN I was just getting ready to say :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: phil! and you had to go and ruin it for me

  2. The check engine light came on in my fiancee's 1999 1/2 VW Jetta. She took it in to a local garage that she has been to before a number of times and liked. I figured that she would get dinged on some part and labor charge because a check engine light is always an opportunity for a garage to take your money right? A check engine light w/o an associated cost is a rare occurance. As expected they told her that she needed two parts. OK fine.

So anyway, we drove down to Danbury CT last weekend for a wedding and before we got to Syracuse (from Rochester) the check engine light comes back on. Crap. We get back from the wedding and she calls the garage and they tell her to bring it in for another diagnostic. This time its an oxygen sensor, which they replace and only charge for the parts. This is starting to hurt a bit more but we're happy to not pay labor.

This brings us to today. She picks up her car from the garage (newly "fixed") and she drives out to Victor (probably 5 miles from the garage) for an appointment. Before she even gets to her destination, the damn light is back on.

I want to call the garage and explain the situation but I really don't want her to go back there for further work unless they give us free parts AND labor this time (fat chance). We are also considering disputing the charges for the work that has already been done with her credit card company.

Any advice on what the problem might be and how to proceed? Thanks.

sounds like a bunch of parts changers (keep changing the most common parts until the fix the problem) ;) unfortunaly it sounds like their lack of proper diagnostic skills is at your expence :D BASTARDS :I starred in Brokeback Mountain:

  3. Badol was right. Purge many of the so-called name players and start fresh. Bledsoe,Henry,Moulds,Campbell,Jennings,M.Williams,Shelton,Wire..even Fletcher. They make more negative plays than positive ones.

0-3... Pointing the finger at certain units/players to defend your personal favorites no longer means a damn thing. Keep starting the players listed above and you just admitted you're satisfied with 6 wins per year,at best. They've had their shot and continue to come up small in the clutch. Tough guys ? How about mentally tough ?

We can lose with younger, cheaper guys with an upside. Learn in 2004 and set up something positive for 2005. Turn the page.

Bye-bye losers. Go kill another franchise.

  4. Nothing really, I just finally stumbled on to it, didnt know where it was before. I'll save my family fun for the other six days a week that dont involve football.

And Paco's a retard but that was kind of funny

Kids every where?? What are you 90???? Your right Hammer's Lot is not for people looking for NOTHING.  8 restrooms for my customers use, more per parker than ANY other parking lot. I guess you did not like the 2 bands we had playing yesterday. The great ,great, granddaughter of Jack Daniels enjoyed herself. And yes the 2004 Jack Daniels Tailgate Party winner resides at Hammer's Lot.

hee hee hee  I.m going to have to buy you a shot of don julio  I'll have to stop bye and say hi or maybe we'll run into you @ the big tree for the dolphish game!your not going to put me to work again raking leaves are you?

  5. I'm not saying hope to win, or think we could win, I'm saying really think we could win yesterdays game?  Comon folks I like all of us wanted to win the game, but hell you whinners could have written your TD and DB attacks before the game even began.  I will give you this, the Bills seem to find more ways to lose than any sports team I have ever seen, but would it have been better had they not ever been in the game yesterday?  The Bills were in it until nearly the end.  You can't let a very good team hang around, a team on a 17 game win streak knows how to win, and they will find a way to beat you, period.  This coach needs to kick a little a$$, this team does need to use its young players, and I do think that if this team continues to play as sloppy as it did yesterday, while not playing those new studs, TD's days are over.  As far as DB, his days are numbered, the only good thing that came out of JP's injury is that it Mularky has NO choice (read no chants of Loseman at the Ralph) when it comes to QB, NO, Mathews is not an option, especially  while we are still in the game.

Yes I do see light at the end of the tunnel, and no it's not an on coming train.

    Go Bills, play smart!

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!damit!!!!!!!!!

  6. BADOL, you nailed it, bro. Hit it right out of the ballpark, and still going....

From the postgame discussion at Lot 1/Pole 5: IMO, physically, this team has every bit as much 'talent' as New England. Look at where each team's starters were drafted out of college..... (I'm going to list more than 11 for each unit, based on what set they decide to run)

    Bills offense:

1st-round - Bledsoe, M. Williams, Moulds, Evans, McGahee

    2nd-round - Henry, Reed

    3rd-round - Jennings

    4th-round -

    5th-round - Villarrial

    6th-round - Shelton

    7th-round - Teague

UDFA - Campbell, Neufeld, L. Smith

    Bills defense:

1st-round - Adams, Spikes, Clements, Vincent

    2nd-round - Schobel, Kelsay/Denney, (Milloy)

    3rd-round - Wire

    4th-round - McGee, Prioleau

    5th-round -

    6th-round - Reese, K. Thomas

    7th-round -

UDFA - Fletcher, Posey, P. Williams

    Patriots offense:

    1st-round - Daniel Graham

2nd-round - Dillon, Matt Light, Christian Fauria, (Branch)

    3rd-round -

4th-round - (Dan Klecko, LB started at FB)

5th-round - Russ Hochstein, Dan Koppen

    6th-round - Brady

7th-round - David Givens, Patrick Pass

    8th-round - Troy Brown

UDFA - Joe Andruzzi, Tom Ashworth, David Patten

    Patriots defense:

1st-round - McGinest, Law, Seymour, Ty Warren, Wilfork, Poole

2nd-round - Eugene Wilson, Ted Johnson

3rd-round - Tedy Bruschi, Mike Vrabel

    4th-round -

    5th-round - Rodney Harrison

    6th-round -

    7th-round -

    UDFA -

By my count (and not counting McGahee), the Bills started 8 first-round picks to the Pats' 7 yesterday. For a guy to get drafted that high, somebody along the line had to think he'd turn out to be a truly special player, no?

So what's the diff? Between the ears. And I'm not talking IQ tests or SAT scores here, either. BADOL's quote, the one that's still bugging me almost 24 hours later:

I'd give New England any two first-round draft picks off our current roster for Tedy Bruschi. Right now. And they'd be nuts to take that deal, because IMO Bruschi is the reincarnation of Chris Spielman. Why'd he last till the third round? Because his "measurables" didn't look so hot for a college d-lineman attempting to transition to LB. He was a "tweener", according to Joel Buchsbaum, who "may be better-suited as a pass-rushing end in the CFL than NFL because of size, but he can be a situational rusher in the NFL and might even be an inside linebacker in some schemes."

Doesn't matter how tall he is or what Bruschi's 40 time was at the combine, the guy can play football. And Scott Pioli - although he can't take credit for Bruschi; he was in Baltimore when TB was drafted by Bill Parcells - has loaded up their roster with guys like him. Meanwhile, our front office - and the one that preceded it, for that matter - appears to be searching for guys who can run the 40 in 4.2 or set benchpress records.

And when it comes down to making THE play at the end of a close game, it shows. We have players who think they're playmakers. They have players who just make plays.

football players! (with heart)you broke my heart frado, now your nothing to me

  7. The official downfall of the bills began with the forward lateral.  Bruce dehaven, HOF assistant coach, takes the fall on a play that shouldn't have happened in the first place.  Then they hire whoever that guy was to replace dehaven.  Then the ST turns to crap and wade refuses to fire him, leading to his own firing.  Folks, wade phillips was a damn great coach.  True, he couldn't talk, and he looked a lot like the swizzle stick, but compare wade to the clowns we've had since him.  This team has been in a perpetual downward spiral since that one stupid illegal play.

If you look at a timeline though, the oilers lost to the bills in january 1993, they moved in 1995, and made it to the super bowl in january of 2000.  That's a seven season span.  For argument's sake, put the bills timeline next to that of the titans.  Since the bills haven't moved, and they're in season 4, using the illegal lateral as a starting point, they really only have 3 more seasons of sucking before they screw some team and go to the super bowl.

The downward spiral began with that terrible terrible espn classic play, but it will end in the year 2007, with JP, mcgahee, lee evans, and ancient HOFer moulds.  I just hope i don't have kids by then, so i can drink heavily and scream when we win super bowl XLII.
