  1. Don't we have more cap space? I haven't heard any rumors about other signings except that we have talked to Mario Manningham. I think we have many other holes to fill. I'm really hoping we are not calling it quits in free agency just because of one huge signing.

Shefter said we had talks with Manningham and Buddy said we didn't. I'm taking Buddy's word on it and plus Manningham is not the "type" of receiver we're looking for. If only we can trade down in the draft and still be ahead of the Jets and scoop Michael Floyd if he's still available and then go LT in the second round with the extra draft pick we get from drafting down.

  2. I have mixed emotions about this. I mean no position should just be given to anyone but Fred earned his spot last year. I just hope the statement wasn't too harsh to the point where Fred feels disrespected or something. I say I'm ok with letting them going head to head to see who gets number 1 and who gets number 2 but like I said I hope it was said in a good way. I don't know if that makes any sense to you guys.

  3. Let them talk is what I say. Any media is good media right now... Gets our name out there even more... Can't wait for the season opener to hear the announcer call Mario's name as he steps on the turf... I also hope our opener is either the Thursday night game or any other prime-time game...

  4. If there was ever a year to trade down, this would be it. Nix showed us the baby and spent 80 percent of the money on pampers clothing and milk. That takes us out of free agency this year. We still have to restructure Fred's contract as promised. I love the 2nd round prospects in this year's draft so, I'd rather trade down in the 1st that way we have a later 1st round pick and 2 2nd round picks.

    With those picks I say,

    LT

    DE/OLB

    DE/OLB

  5. I haven't looke recently but we had $32 million rollover and after amonitized bonus's and new deals we signed the Bills are down to about $23 million I believe. IF williams is truly getting $16 million a year, and I believe our cash to cap system is how it will hit our cap,THEN we have about $7 million left over. They'll need to save about 5-6 million for rookies and such.

This doesn't take into account cuts, that most certainly will come. Dwan Edwards, who I don't believe fits our new 4-3, could save the Bills about $3 million in cap space. I don't believe the final cap numbers need to be in until at least late August or September, so plenty of time to figure out cuts etc.

Thanks for the info. Looking like Dwan is definitely on his way out unless he takes a paycut....

  6. So going back to the original question, does anyone know how much cap room we actually DO have left? Will we be able to comfortably pay our rookies we draft this year and upgrade Fred's contract? I understand the notion of letting Dwan Edwards go because he just doesn't fit in this defense (even though the guy played pretty good for us). But, I don't want to let Merriman go if all we save is a million in cap. Yes we've all heard Merriman is not the same, he can't stay healthy, but the things he's done as far as being a vocal leader and now scout and recruiter, we can't let him go for cap room sake.

  7. I know many of you guys do your homework better than some of the guys that get paid to look this stuff up. But, my question is after signing Mario exactly how much more cap space do we have? Who can we re-sign or maybe have to let go? Can we afford paying our rookies this upcoming year? I'd appreciate the info. Thanks.

  8. You guys know why the Bills are looking towards better days? For the simple fact that for whatever reason we always receive hate from critics. It's our time to shine and the league can sense it now. Let me elaborate on the hate.

Tuesday night when Mario visited the Bills it was a "shock".

Tuesday night he was allegedly "leaving".

Wednesday after touring Buffalo and visiting OBD he "had a flight scheduled to leave".

Thursday we all know he "SIGNED".

Brian Baldinger on Tuesday's NFL Total Access said a "good fit" for Mario would be the Bills lining up next to Dareus, Kyle, and Kelsay. Then on Thursday night's Total Access he said it was a wrong move for Buffalo to spend that much on Mario because he doesn't feel Mario is an "elite" player. That in NC they never finished better than 6-6 and that his first 4 years in the Texans they had one of the worst defenses in the league. He also went as far as saying he's not a game changer.

I can never pin point every single time I think people hate our team but we can't deny the "feeling" that they do is always there. Maybe I'm being too proud (and I dont even live in Buffalo I live in NYC) but it's time to get this defense started especially with the draft coming up.

I woke up today just as excited as I was yesterday. Congratulations to all.

    GO BILLS.
