  1. Next year. They inherited an absolute disaster and certainly deserve a 3 year tryout.

They seem to have done a pretty good job of addressing some major holes on D through the draft and free agency the past 2 years. This year they have to make a decision on Fitzpatrick and either pay up if he earns it or draft a stud QB. They obviously also have to address the OL next off-season as well. I actually think they are doing a good job of patiently building something from nothing so far.

  2. Manning is hurt and is expected to miss a few games. It would be something if Favre just filled in for those few weeks. Crazy as it sounds he probably can be productive for a game here and there though he can't last the weekly grind of the NFL season at this point.

He would be better than their backup. LOL

The only accurate thing you said in that post is that Favre would be better than Curtis Painter or Dan Orlovsky.

  3. Bucs are hoping that Youboty will step in and compete for starting corner job... good luck with that

    Tampa Bay Signs CB

What about that article makes you think he is competing for a starting job? It is pretty clearly stated that he is being brought in to push some depth guys and that there is not a penny guaranteed in the deal. Seems like a smart pickup to me.

  4. To hell with all of you that say Vick wasn't an accurate or good enough QB in the league before his incarceration, he won football games as QB for the Atlanta Falcons and took them to the NFC Championship game. As for PR, as soon as Vick threw a bomb to Owens or Evans after evading 3 NE Patriot defenders for a game winning TD, his jersey would have flown off the shelves of any department store that had the courage to sell them!

Vick was a hell of a lot of fun to watch as a QB in Atlanta, but he did the majority of his damage with his legs. He wasn't accurate, he made bad decisions, he had a horrible work ethic (he admitted that part) and his reliance on running the ball had begun to bring in injury concerns. Like i said earlier in this thread, when he got out of jail he was viewed as nothing more than a gimmick wildcat QB and many people thought he would have to change positions. Philly's first inclination was to put him on the field with McNabb lined up outside. It is absolutely amazing that he has made this transformation after sitting in jail for 18 months, but I don't blame the Bills or any other team for not seeing it coming.

  5. i think ralph worried about what the fanbase would do. Maybe he was scared he would lose money in ticket sales? I for one didnt want Vick, I have morals in life and he broke a major moral of mine.....animal abuse. I love animals, and what Vick did was inhumane...personally I dont think his punishment was enough. I think he should have been banned from football. But thats strictly my opinion as to why ralph didnt go after him. He was worried about losing money with the fanbase.

Let's face it, experts were questioning if Vick could even play QB again in the league or if he would just be a wildcat guy. Not a lot people saw this thing playing out the way it did. I don't blame Ralph (or any owner) for passing on a guy who was out of football for 2 years and had a history of inconsistency, poor decisions in the pocket, and a less than ideal work ethic.

Pretty easy to play revisionist historian now that the guy is a legit MVP candidate who somehow learned in prison how to be a dependable pocket QB in addition to maintaining the freaky athleticism.

  6. I just dont think that is the point......the commissioner shouldnt be steering a player away from anybody whether they wanted him or not.

Agreed that Goodell overstepped boundaries if this did happen, but it is kind of a moot point if Wilson was going to refuse to sign the guy anyways.

  7. per Tim Graham via Twitter. Even though people in football department did. Why should he have the say. Shouldn't the GM?

Because he is the guy writing the check. I am sure a lot of owners wanted no part of the PR nightmare that Vick made himself into following his crimes. Don't get me wrong, I would've loved him in a Bills uniform, but the guy writing the check gets to make the call because he founded the team!!

  8. I would shocked if he was our #2 wr already. Peter King has discussed Jones in two recent articles, stating that he is becoming a very good player. He even recommended drafting him in your fantasy league. If Aiken has passed Jones by, I would assume that he must be a great talent as well. Maybe his emergence in addition to others led to the trade of Lee Evans.

Or it could mean that behind Stevie we have two decent slot guys (Parrish+Nelson)and a bunch of unproven, yet promising young wideouts. My guess is that Jones, Aiken, Easley, Roosevelt will be interchangeable throughout the rest of the pre-season and maybe the first few weeks of the regular season. Hopefully one of them steps up to the plate or it could be a long year of double/triple coverage for Stevie.

  9. Nesbitt looked better.

Can you name 2 players that were on the field for the Bears at the point that Nesbitt got under center? Smith looked good out there in a couple of key situations....definitely opens up the playbook, and unlike most wildcat guys he can actually throw.

  10. Saved my first post for Maybin, they've gotta cut him at this point. Getting blown up by Barber was flat out embarrassing. I was at the draft in NYC when they took him and everyone around us was doing the Orakpo chant, you could feel the wind come out of our sails when they announced Maybin. I was able to go over and talk to Mort during an ESPN commercial break and he thought it was a great pick. I felt better, then I saw him play :(

Can't believe he had the balls to come in to camp weighing 228.
