  1. Before or after the Bills acquire the players to properly run a 3-4?

at the same time... we are only a few pieces away. namely a OLB or 2 and either a good solid NT to eat up the middle of the line and move Williams to end or find another dominant end to put on the other side of Williams to offset Williams lack of ideal size for the position. so if we got a defensive coordinator that actually knew how to run a good 3-4 we could have a really lights out D

  2. He only play inside due to injury last year. Either Nikko Johnson or Hightower went down last year so he filled in. But is an OLB and would make this team better instantly.

im aware of why he played inside the point is he can play both and be dominant at either position and i agree he would make the defense instantly better put him on the strong side at OLB and cut Kelsay.

  3. Upshaw in a heartbeat! the guy is an animal, he can play inside and outside in our defense and he is a pass rush demon. you can line him up all over and rush the passer with him if he is there i want him

Courtney Upshaw is not an ILB. He's an OLB and he is bada**. Gotta watch the games not read Wiki. He is the guy that I want more than anyone in this draft because he can play the run and the pass. Upshaw reminds a lot of Harrison, he's on the shorter side which gives him great leverage, he's stout at the POA, he can change directions well and he's about 270. He will be a pro bowler for years in the NFL. Plus he's played under Saban...nuff said.

Jenkins, like every FSU DE (Remember Everette Brown, Reynolds, ?) cannot play the run because they still allow their DEs to freelance way too much just like Mickey Andrews did. Crick has has had a terrible season and Datko's been a turnstile this year and is built like a power forward.

i agree with everything but the is not a ILB part, he has played both and is dominant wherever he lines up

  4. Let's start looking for CFL cuts from their preseason too ... if there's one guarantee about this board it is that someone will get all excited about any team's first cuts as if the other team was so stupid as to cut a player in the first round of cuts who can be an NFL starters.

This is not to say that we don't need some reserves on the OL because other then 4 out of 5 who looked good (LT, LG, C, and RT)... I didn't see any performance worthy of a starter in the NFL.

i never said i was excited about him or thought he was anything special. what i said is i think he is a better player then most the scrubs we have along our line and definitely better the our back up scrubs

  5. Not going to carry three tightends or 10 offensive lineman.

i hope not, id rather see only 2 TE's and haveMartin be gone. and idk about OL besides Wood and Levitre the whole group could be cut for all i care they need better starters at LT,RG and RT and better depth all across

  6. You'd rather have David Martin over Marcus Easley? That's just ridiculous. Heard playing a DE is ridiculous as well. Just because Dareus is playing DE at that weight doesn't mean a waiver wire guy can too. He's a dt. Starting Carrington as a starting OLB is a bit far fetched at this point. I LOVE the thought of it, but just can't home being able to be a full time olb. Situationally, sure...but not full time. Sorry for being so negative, I guess I just can't imagine how someone would like to see us cut easley and keep Martin.

i didnt say i want Martin over Easley. id much rather have Easley but they are 2 different positons. i dont think the Bills will mak any changes to the TE depth and as of rite now Easley hasnt earned a roster spot over guys like Jones and Roosevelt no matter where he was drafed he hasnt earned anything yet. and idk what game you were watchin latnight but Heard was playing RDE and did a pretty decent job at it,enough in fact that id rather keep him for depth then keep Spencer Johnson. Carrington is just a pipe dream id love to see that happen hv him and Batten man that spot

Not a bad cut at it.

Kelsey will stay. Easley will make the team. Japser and Dotson to the PS. One of the stiffs on the OL will be gone (Wang or Wrotto) too. Not sure that Corner stays either.

Coleman on the bubble too. Roosevelt and Jones in a dog fight.

i know Kelsay will be here just dont want him here as a starter anyway. and as i just said IMO Easley hasnt earned anything yet guys like Roosevelt and Jones will make the team before Easley rite now.

  8. I dont agree with the popular thought that Kelsay cant play at a decent level but i dont believe that he is a starting caliber player esp at LB and after seeing the way Carrington shined at the position lastnite i believe that he should get alot more reps there and be given the chance to compete for that starting spot. if he beats out Kelsay like i think he can then one of 2 things can happen. you either cut Kelsay out rite and save the team some cash/cap or you ask him to restructure his contract to an amount thats acceptable for a back up player. i wouldn't mind seeing him take a pay cut and stay as a back up because of the fact that he is a high motor guy that never quits. but if he doesn't take a pay cut you say goodbye and use that extra cash to go out and extend some key players contracts like Fitz, Kyle Williams, and Stevie Johnsn. and maybe get some depth at OT

  9. Hey billsnut.

I'd be curious to know where you got your figures from… I'd like to bookmark the link for future reference.

Keep in mind that Sharpe retired in 2003 so it's not like he played in an entirely different era.

idk off the top of my head i was scowering google for it because i knew there was a difference..ill have to go look for it again.. and i know when he retired but keep in mind he played the bulk of his 14 year career in the 90's and while its not that long ago it is a different era in respects to player sizes

  10. Sharpe was listed at 6'2" and 228 pounds which is comparable to many of today's wideouts.

The average offensive tackle weighed 292.35 lbs in the 1990's, 313.95 today.

The average offensive guard weighed 284.95 lbs in the 1990's, 310.88 today.

The average center, 285.91 lbs, in the 1990's 291.89 lbs today

The average tight end, 236.56 in the 1990's, 252.1 today

you cant compare 2 different era's like that and say that sharpe wasnt a true TE because he was 6'2 228. as you can see he was only slitely below the average for that posistion in that era. of course the TE's now are going to be bigger. every posistion in the NFL is on average bigger then what it was in that era

  11. Kellen Winslow, Eric Green, Ben Coates, Tony Gonzales, Antonio Gates… all of these players were much more traditional tight ends than Sharpe-style tight ends and all of them were bigger than Sharpe and better blockers too. Sharpe was listed at 6'2" and 228 pounds which is comparable to many of today's wideouts.

theres no way Gates is a better blocker. Gates and Sharpe are virtually the same player just gates is a little bigger. and what does size matter anyway? there are loads of players that were "too small" for they're positions that are hall of famers or future hall of famers that doesn't mean they aren't a real player at that position. you gonna tell me a guy like Mike Singletary wasn't a true ILB because he was closer to the size of a Safety(6'0 230)then to the prototypical size of a ILB 6'2-6'5 240-260?? that argument just doesn't work and debunks your whole argument. Sharpe was a TE no matter what his size was or his blocking ability thats the position he played and he did it at a high level

  12. Every time i turn my computer on to look at Bills news i have to hold my breath wondering who's gonna be injured next. Now i see Flo is down for a week.Light's out Dareus, Nelson, Williams, there all nicked up, did i leave anybody out. Our team is either full of injury prone pu$$y's or were just a bunch of unlucky schmuck's.

you sir are obviously a moron! did you really expect there to be no injuries in camp with the holdout lasting soo long this year? players all over the league are getting little nagging injuries. but your rite theyre all Pu**ies. have you ever played any high impact sport in your life? better yet have you played a sport at all in life? i have to assume you havent with such comments

  13. I stand in the crowd that believes Sharpe shouldn't have been a first ballot HOF'er. Frankly, he was a big receiver that lined up in the slot or flank for a big chunk of his receiving yardage. I think of his as a TE in name only. I can't say that he dominated games like Gonzales or Gates have done. I also think that his brother is more deserving of being in the Hall than him as he was one of the 3 best in the game along with Reed and Rice.

I won't say that he wasn't deserving HOF status, but a first ballot guy should be a total game changer. Gonzales is that guy more so that Sharpe, imo.

how long have you been watching football? Shannon Sharpe was one of the guys who made the TE position what it is today. and he didn't take over games like Gonzales or Gates??? again i ask how much football have you watched? or how much have you watched Shannon Sharpe play? i dont get how anyone can say they know the game and think that Sharpe isn't one of the Best all time... baffling

  14. I can easily name 10 NFL greats that belong in the Hall of Fame before Shannon Sharpe. I'm still perplexed as to how he make it in. Oh well, here's hoping Andre Reed gets in within the next few years.

This comment is a glaring example of a completely ignorant football fan. if you believe that Shannon Sharpe doesn't deserve to be in the hall of fame then its obvious you know nothing of the game. like every other Bills fan i want Andre Reed in the hall too but to say Sharpe is not deserving is just a lack of intelligence of the game, Sharpe was one of the most dominant TE's in the game, ever

  15. He's caught touchdowns in this league.

not making a great argument for him here lol hes caught 2 touchdowns in his 4 years. not saying he isnt worth a look though. thats what preseasons for.

Sorta reminds me of the Chad Jackson signing last season. High pick didnt work out with the original team, give him a look and see what you got. If he sucks cut him, no biggie

    Agreed

  16. You have clearly never seen this guy play.

and you clearly have no clue what your talking about. Taylor Mays was a good college player with nothing but upside coming into the draft last year. he had an average to below average rookie year but he still has a better chance of becoming a solid playmaker then guys like Maybin and Kelsay are for us. even if you think his coverage skills are lacking he still has the body to put on an extra 15 lbs and be a better OLB then Kelsay and guranteed to have worlds better cover skills them him and you wouldnt lose any of the run support.

You either; A: have no clue what you're talking about. B: are Taylor Mays.

Yes he's strong. He's he's fast. That's all. He can't move side to size. He can't recognize offenses. He sucks. I watch every niner game due to my friend being a niner fan and have come to the conclusion that he is a very lucky man. A player with his football knowledge getting one NFL paycheck Is like any one of us winning the lottery. one in a million.

You said he's an instant upgrade at Run support and is better than whitner in coverage. What a farce. I'll add C to the choices. C: you play with Taylor mays in madden 11 on rookie difficulty.

ill add choice D. D: none of the above. i didnt watch any of his 49ers games so that much i cant comment on but watch every USC game every year and Mays has Alot more god given talent and upside then guys like Maybin and Kelsay. people dont think he can play saftey fine put him at OLB he would be a better option then maybin and kelsay and if you dont think so you obviously dont know football as well as you think you do

  17. this is a guy thats only in his second years and is 6'3 230 runs a 4.31 40 yard dash and hits hard as hell put him at SS and you have another instant upgrade in run support and hes better then whitner was in coverage as well. how could you not want this guy?
