You didn’t ask me but I’ll give you the scoop.

The Giants are doing their best to get the Browns to take Darnold, because they want Barkley or Chubb. The Browns know this, most believe Barkley. The Browns want Barkley at 4. The Browns want a QB as well,so there is an internal struggle of what to do.

The Browns love a couple QBs. It’s one of the two they have been linked to not loving.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they took Barkley at 1, then the Giants would be inclined to trade out, and the Browns get one of the two QBs they desire, because the Jets will screw up,as per usual and take Mayfield (and I love Mayfield,he’s just not one of the two best).

Its going to take a lot for us to get to 2, unless we move up to 6 or 7 before the draft. The Broncos are in the spot the Giants want to go back to.

So they love Rosen and Mayfield (because all along it's been they like Darnold and Allen)?

Wouldn't it be good if the Giants stayed put at 2, since they probably won't take a QB? Leaving more QB opportunities for the Browns?

Do you know why the Giants would want to go down to only 5 at the lowest?

By the way, thank you for your input

Browns source.  And yes, it’s an inside source.  Subject to all the caveats that goes with that - especially with intentional misinformation flowing so freely this time of year.  Still, he was pretty adamant about the Browns not really wanting Allen.

Yeah I heard it may come down to Mayfield or Rosen for their QB, and it may not be at 1 but could be at 4. Thoughts on that?

I know the Browns and Bills have spoken about the #4 pick.  Also the Browns are pimping Allen to try to raise his stock so that he’ll go in the top 4 and improve the value of that pick - either by going 2 or 3 or a team coming up to 4 for him.  They’re definitely not selecting him.  That’s the one thing this guy has said that I can verify.

Did you hear that from a Bills or Browns source?

Do you have any other inside info?

I called it months ago..Mayfield and Allen are fits in the northeast.Barkley is most likely to be the bust in the draft class..I can't erase his horrible play in the bowl game from my mind..he was horrible.

    Saquon Barkley?

I disagree with your point about the Jets...I think their trade up was a great move on their part, and frankly, I’m jealous that it couldn’t have been the Bills.

Furthermore, it doesn’t necessarily have to matter whether they get their top rated guy, as long as they think there’ll be 3 guys that could be franchise guys and they wouldn’t mind having them.

The Bills had a similar mindset in 1983...They had two 1st rounders that year but didn’t take a QB with their first pick because there were two guys they liked, and were guaranteed to get either one with their second pick...therefore, if the Jets like 3 guys it was an excellent trade!  But it doesn’t have to mean that the Jets give the same grade to all three- just that they would be happy with any of them.

Who was the other guy we liked? Marino?

People I'm sure said the same of Arron Rodgers and Tom Brady to name a couple.  Rodgers was a late #1, but  certainly not a talked about guy.

Did you watch the draft and the lead up to the draft that year? Based on what you said, you probably didn't.

Rodgers was highly talked about. A lot of people, including myself, felt he was the top QB in that 2005 draft. I didn't believe Smith would go No.1 until he was drafted.

This isn't just hindsight. I can show you articles showing Rodgers was regarded as a top 10 player.

    http://walterfootball.com/draft2005.php

    Had Rodgers going 5th overall

Kiper had him going 3rd overall

Nothing about those mocks indicates "certainly not a talked about guy"...unless you weren't listening.
