it's not who you know its who you
The difference is that Spygate was about stealing signs and filming practices. Bountygate was about INJURING players(people), possibly ending careers/ability to earn a living at football or worse. Maybe it's just me, but that is a BIG difference.

I read what he said, I thought he couldn't have been talking about just the changes in the nickel because a lot of times, Scott was the ONLY player added to the nickel so of course he was the best one.
I also love what he does. But if you go back and watch the games, he was chasing guys from behind who beat him in every single game, sometimes a few times a game. He made a ton of good plays, too, but speed guys killed him.
I hear you on him getting beat, but lets wait and see if we have an actual pass rush this season and how the db's look with a pass rush. Don't forget, we were creating turnovers at a high rate early in the season. Merriman,Kyle and Troup get hurt and Marcell moves to the middle. Since then the turnovers stopped coming(besides the Broncos game).IMO those turnovers early in the season were no mistake.

Interesting.. I thought McGee was our #1 corner..
Really? He was out most of last season and reworked his contract to stay. He has a chance to compete to be our #1, but he's not anymore. Hope it works out for him but there will be an open competition for both CB spots.IMO.

Huh? What exactly is there to see? The guy took his team to back to back AFC title game appearances. One of those was as a rookie. Please. -The homerism on this board is getting out of hand.
Homerism?!?!?
Tebow could have taken that team just as far.In those two seasons, the Jets were alot better than last years Broncos. The Jets were so much better than they were last year and better than this years team will be. Why do you think Ryan isn't guaranteeing anything this season? IMO,Sanchise sucks.

If you want to take Jeff Litmann's perspective, then Wislon has been the ideal CEO. I took a shortcut from the fan's standpoint, since the Buffalo Bills football product has been awful more often than not.
Yes, it is a managerial marvel that Wilson could deliver a mediocre product in an economically depressed area to generate some of the highest operating income figures in the league. But as a consumer of that product, you have to admit that the product sucked.
From a consumers perspective, I agree. I like to defend Ralph because Fan(atics) don't seem to get that it is a business first. For you young guys, check the history of nfl teams and you'll see most if not all have their cycles of being good and bad. Alot of them were bad for long periods of time as well. If you are a fan long enough, you'll see it's cyclical and the nfl's system makes it hard to sustain a dynasty. All of this leads to my point that Ralph has been a hell of a CEO and owner. Hell, what has Washington or Dallas gotten with all that $ their wonderful CEO's have spent.

Is that the same Ozzie that just let him go after just one year?
How do Paul Miller, Jim Racalto, or Joe B know any more than you or I do.
He did not seem like a good teammate to me. It always seemed to me that he sulked after his friend was cut. If he were such a good teammate, maybe he would be as brave as little Roscoe going over the middle.
Just my two cents. He was ok. He just was not the saint that some on this board think he was.
How do Paul Miller, Jim Racalto, or Joe B know any more than you or I do.
Well, unless you write/report on the nfl or certain teams like these guys do, it's their job to know more than you or I. They have access to more info than we do.
Let's fix this question:
How do you or I Paul Miller, Jim Racalto, or Joe B know any more than you or I doPaul Miller, Jim Racalto, or Joe B?
-
If there are better players available to replace them at comparable cost, than yes. Otherwise, no.
Every team has average quality players and none of those guys are that expensive.
-
I agree. Calling Ralph cheap doesn't really do justice to how bad of a CEO he's been.
For the Bills to be successful, the management under their horrible CEO is going to have to be very good if not outstanding.
I would posit that it's been equally as terrible for a while now.
Hopefully (and maybe I'm still on a Mario high) we've got at least a GM now that can spot and bring in some talent. And hopefully we've got a good coaching staff that can get some proper execution from the players.
Calling Ralph cheap doesn't really do justice to how bad of a CEO he's been
Depends on who's perspective you are looking at. As CEO of the Bills he has maintained a franchise that has turned a profit almost every year, if not every year. He owns the team outright. Sounds like a hell of a CEO to me. Hell of a deal with Toronto he made a few years ago too. Worked hard at regionalizing the franchise(see Rochester and Toronto).Every once in a while I try to remind folks that this is a business he's running. The business has to be healthy/profitable to be a stable business. He cares about winning but it is a business first.IMO he's been a hell of a CEO. Especially in a City with a national reputation as a dump(see Brady). He also was one of 2 owners who balked at the previous aggreement between the owners and the NFL. Turned out he was right because they tried to fix it last year. Again, great CEO.

In other posts I've mentioned this same thing....Carrington is a great physical specimen and was the DE in college and I think he's got great strength and a quick step. I've been a proponent of letting Carrington man one side since the switch to 4-3 b/c I think he could be a good guy against the run and a decent pass rusher, put him opposite MW and along side KW and Dareus, and I believe that's the line to go with and let Kelsey and Merriman be the pass rush specialist...
-
I'm not sure we're finished with the D. Mario prefers to play Left DE. That puts Kelsay on the sideline. Who will be our right DE? Jim Kelly seems to think it's Merriman but, with his health history, he can't be considred reliable. Buffalo still needs to find a capable RDE in my opinion. Buffalo needs to resign D. Bell, trade down in Rd 1 and select a Mercilus or Andre Branch for RDE. With those moves, our D will have been rebuilt.
I think we have a guy named Carrington who can fit the bill. Having Mario opposite of him will help him alot. I see Carrington making plenty of plays this season. Come on, Kyle and Marcel in the middle and Mario on the other side drawing a TE/RB chip?!? Carrington will see plenty of 1 0n 1's. Don't forget Kelsay excells with his hand on the ground, not as an OLB. He's gonna produce when he's in there also. Man, I can't wait for the season to start!

I had kinda hoped Bills fans had turned a corner, but nope I was wrong
Hey now, we're not all guilty by association.
-
all I have to say is....
MR. WILSON TEAR DOWN THIS WALL OF BEING CHEAP!
What wall?!?!?!?
-
McKelvin?
Yes.
I get why you ask. He had trouble locating the ball when thrown his way, but he was always in position to make the play. If you notice, the throws were pretty much placed where only the receiver had a chance. With enough time a QB can make a throw like that. With pressure, these throws will not be perfectly placed and McKelvin will have a better shot at an errant throw(low/wide/hurried) than a perfectly thrown ball. IMO

BPA. It's not that complicated. The Bills will not reach for a need. They need playmakers.
GO BILLS!!!
You've gotta at least consider DB. Houston had a great defensive line up through 2010, but they couldn't cover anyone and were horrible as a result. Once they got Jonathan Joseph, things changed. That said, the Bills CB cupboard isn't as bare as the Texans' was. Otherwise, LT.
Once they got Jonathan JosephWade Phillips, things changed.

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong, but his whole contract is gauranteed. We gain nothing by cutting him. I've seen this posted here a few times. If correct, stop bringing this up. If he gets cut, it's cuz he can't play. Not for the money.
-
He just made at least one of them a pro bowler.
My vote is J. Byrd for the Pro Bowl with a better pass rush.
-
I've been saying all along that our DB's aren't bad, they just have no pass rush to help. Lets's see what happens this season. I think with a healthy D, we can duplicate the turnovers we had early last year. We have ball hawks and now hopefully some chances to show it. Thoughts?

Can someone explain what Bell has done as a Bill? Sure he a good athlete and a great story but he's been injury prone and average when he's been on the field.
IMO Bell has played better than average when he is in. Injuries happen and cannot be predicted. If he is a good player, and I think he is, sign him. I said good, not great. If you can find a better option right now get him, but if not we sure could use him. Keep our good players and add from there.

hes not really that good. hes purely a 1 dimensional speed receiver who is highly overrated due to his fantasy numbers and espn's odd infatuation with the gay azz steelers. only a truly ignorant person would try to bring him into the convo when a true franchise changer like super mario should be the only thing being discussed.
(AKA LAME THREAD)
(SORRY FOR TROLLING, BUT NOT REALLY)
Funny how being able to type an opinion makes people feel they are so much of an expert that they feel the need to resort to name-calling. Just like all those bloggers who think they know it all. Only a truly ignorant person would try to act like he/she knows it all. I mean really, where do you get off calling someone ignorant? We need a receiver, don't we?

Vincent Jackson, Eric Wright, and now Carl Nicks. All they need is an MLB and they win Free Agency.
DREAM TEAM !!!!!!

Nothing wrong with sleeping on it. I hope he had nice dreams.
You know, there is such a thing as beating a dead horse. Give it a break. Unless you're 13 yrs old.
Dick Jauron went after TE Tony Gonzalez and instead Tony chose Atlanta. Does that make Jauron great because he saw a hole and tried to fill it with a proven commodity?
I'm not giving Nix credit for failing.
I can recall this Bills FO stating that they were going to hire a top HC and money was no object after they fired Jauron, they were gonna spend 10 million if that's what it takes. Remember that?
They even flew in Mike Shanahan and Bill Cowher and spoke with both, what happened? You can't make top players / coaches want to come to a loser.
loser
Pretty strong statement. I suppose you are the best at what you do for a living.I assume you got an award for being the best at it. If not, does that make you a loser? I live in Fl, but was born and raised in Buff. I take exception to people calling US(Bills)LOSERS.If you don't like it, find another team. And instead of loser , you can be a winner.

Whether Mario Williams signs or not, I give the Bills brass lots credit for trying which has not always been the case here in years past. Reports are the Bills' offer makes Williams the highest paid defensive player in the NFL. What else can they do?
What else can they do?!? Get him drunk and get him to sign.

My thoughts on our first 3 picks

I know this has been said before(esp by me), but Revis couldn't get it done with receivers having 4-5 seconds to run a route. Early in the season we created to's when we had a semblence of a pass rush. I think the DB's will be fine and might even excel with an improved pass rush. With a pass rush we can properly evaluate the db's this season. Not saying don't draft one if he is the bpa, but I'm not going to call them out until evaluated with a pass rush. One more thing. If we give up tons of yds in the run game, play action will draw the att. of the db's. Overall, the lack of production from the front 7 has hindered the play of the DB's. Give them one more season to see how it works out. I think they will be fine.
