  1. How about Buddy's OTHER PICKS??? You know, the ones he actually drafted??? Like Troup, and the aforementioned Aaron Williams... in fact only Spiller has had any great success from that first draft....

And Dareus hasn't exactly lived up to his billing either although most of us still have high hopes for him... But wouldn't A J Green or Julio Jones have been better picks based on their track record so far???

And I can remember one or two guys I'd rather have than Troup too...

Troup was picked in front of Gronk. The worst thing about the Bills recent misses is that the guy right after is AMAZING. Whitner--Ngata; Maybin--Orakpo; Troup Gronkowski. I wouldn't mind the miss so much if the miss was surrounded by other misses.

  2. According to who? You or the court of law?

According to the NFL and his 6 4 game suspension.

Dude beat a rape charge 3 times. 3.

How many times have Roethlisberger's draft mates Eli, Rivers, and Losman been accused?

If I did not do it, and had the financial means (like Big Ben does) for the best lawyers in the world, I would not pay the accuser to "make it go away" I'd annihilate the liar in court. Then sue that person civilly. I think Roethlisberger has got a free pass for these past indiscretions.

Can't pay off a dead dog.

  3. I just sent that link to my wife to decipher. It's WAAAAY too soap opera for me to even begin to understand. I do like the angles that could happen in the near future.

    A) This has already been initiated... The damage control angle, where Te'o gets ND to back him and they both claim hoax. This is a great angle, because if he is lying, then he also drags ND down with him.

    B) Te'o is gay and this is all a big cover to hide his true lover. The Catholic university as well as his own and family's Mormon faith play a large role too, especially since his father is now either in on the coverup or is being used by his son unknowingly.

    C) Te'o and his co conspirators made up the whole thing to enhance his position.

    D) Te'o was hoaxed, he found out, and was blackmailed. this could tie into the gay angle.

I don't watch too much in the way of soap operas, but this is like a February Sweeps storyline here.

Why couldn't the guy just be a great linebacker that happens to like dudes? If he were gay and wanted to remain closeted couldn't he just get a girlfriend (a beard) that was really just a close friend? This is infinitely weirder and shows a kind of selfish self aggrandizement that could make this guy a toxic player. This costs him millions of dollars. No way we take this guy a 8. Kiper, I know you read this board, Mock 2 =no Manti for B-flo,

  4. It's a private organization. I don't know if they get public money ala a stadium, if so that can change things. There are rules that govern that stuff.

As for the sentiment part, it all depends on how people interpret it. Why would a team intentionally name themselves a derogatory phrase? It wouldn't sell. But they're portraying a fierceness, warrior mentality right? I may take pride in that like I know some Irish guys who took pride in ND. Would it matter if they chose a tribal name like Seminole?

Would anyone here be offended if a team was the "Darkies" or "ebonies"? What about "Massai", a warrior people in Africa?

    "redbeards"? Berserkers? a Scottish warrior.

    "topknots"? Samurai?

Which are offensive, and which aren't? Where's the line?

The line is your nation and mine (Canada) were built upon a genocide. To use a term that is patently offensive to aboriginals and first nations people who are the heirs to this genocide is inappropriate and insensitive. My high school was the Redskins until 1997 and it was renamed to Redhawks. Kids still play hard and proudly for the school. If Washington were to change its name it would show that we aren't using antiquated and racist terms for our fun past time anymore and it really won't make a bit of difference. Ask the Baltimore and Houston fans...

I think they should change but I didn't vote because of the dumb second question.

To have a team representing our Nation's capital named for a derogatory term for a group of people we took the country from and slaughtered is a little over the top in my view. Even if Native Americans (or whatever the proper term is) aren't offended by it. I don't see that as the whole point.

My native friends from Akwesasne take deep offense to this. So I guess it depends on which group of aboriginal people you speak to.

i dont think anyones saying place this between national security and the economy on our list of priorities. just a simple "what do you think"

of all the things on this site that we are silly for discussing this one is middle of the pack at worst!

I think that a multi billion dollar operation like the NFL should take this very seriously why risk offending many people?

The Bullets name was changed to the wizards and does anyone care? Changing the name to something else will take about a week for fans to get used to.

  5. If anyone thinks Skins will trade Cousins now, you're crazy.

Agreed. The next head office will pin their jobs in Buffalo on a QB like Jauron/Edwards and Gailey/Fitzpatrick. Marrone and co would have to see something really special in Cousins and the price would be extremely high. I'm not sure a trade makes sense and I, like you, think that Washington is very unlikely to trade unless the offer is ridiculous.

  6. I wish we could get an undrafted QB that would have the talent and ability of a Romo. Rich Gannon was 33 or 34 when he had three consecutive pro bowl years including going to the superbowl against the bucs. It would be so great for the Bills to hit on a free agent, undrafted or cast off, and to have it turn out for once.

Anyways I don't see any way that Dallas doesn't re-sign him.

He ain't coming to Buffalo, that's for sure.

You are right there. Romo is staying in Dallas

  7. If Gailey is retained, I don't care who is at QB next year because I won't watch a single game. Do you really think a different QB is going to help this clueless coach? The guy has been a loser everywhere he's been. He would fail with Tom Brady as his QB.

I agree. Its not hard people. Think of the talented 49ers squad. Singletary could not get them over the hump. Harbaugh comes in and everything changes. That could be Buffalo. A good, smart, gameday ready coach with underachieving players might be able to turn this mess around. They would still be in the thick of things with home victories against the Titans and Rams.
  8. Wow, someone else noticed this too. I was watching the game by myself and all i could think of was that Brady looked weak in his arm. I think that there is some truth to this statement. So, begs the question, is the way to beat the Pats in stopping the run, cover btween the hash marks and let Brady beat you on the outside man on man? Me thinks so, Wanny are you listening?

    Tim-

If Wanny is coaching this team in any capacity the next time we meet the Pats I will be disgusted.
