  1. #1- Jonathan Martin spends time talking to schoolchildren about social isolation. which is a good thing. if children see somebody his size can be bullied and/or not feel good about themselves, than it can happen to anyone.

#2- the NFL has a workplace problem where bullies are encouraged and allowed to thrive. Hopefully that is getting better.

#3- Richie WAS a total piece of chit back then. it looks like he has learned from his mistake(s). Hopefully he continues behaving.

#4- Martin took richie's crap as a rookie, but said enough is enough when it continued in his 2nd season. Martin did nothing wrong.

I agree with these takes, add to number 2 that the coaching staff directed Ritchie to 'toughen Martin up.' The Phins bear a great deal of responsibility for this whole affair

  2.

McCoy had moments but in general he had a poor season. Jackson has also had a rough year. I get the apologizing for McCoy because he is getting a celebrity bye from star starved Bills fans but why pretend DeSean Jackson is having a good year?

Jackson has been hurt and I would say that Washington's offense looks waaaay better with him in the lineup.

  3. I really think we have 24-36 months left in the Brady era. He will eventually not be able to do it or get hurt. The Bills have been crummy for a long time but they have to be near perfect to win the division most years. They have had 15 years of playing against the best franchise in history and as a small market team--good luck. If we were in the NFC east or AFC south we would be perennial contenders.

  4. Burying the lede here. The bigger story is another absolutely corrupt move by Revenue Roger Goodell. Tampering with the league to interfere with the Bills signing a free agent player (Vick coming out of prison). In hindsight this would have likely been bad--but it is absolutely tampering. On top of Spygate tape destruction/coverup and the Ray Rice fiasco Goodell is an absolute disaster from a PR / fan perspective. The owners love him because of money and that he's a puppet.

  5. EJ will be the demise of coach Marrone's career. EJ was his first major decision. The one that will get him fired. EJ Manuel has no business in the NFL. I love the kid, frankly. I route, and will continue to route for him. The poor kid looks lost out there.

    I'm depressed.

An NFL HC bets his career on a QB. If it works out it he is a "genius." If not he is fired.

  6. I don`t think EJ was Marrone`s pick. I think it was Buddy`s last GIFT.

If this is true Marrone is a fool. Most NFL HCs get one shot. When he agreed to come here he had to know that he would get one QB and that's it. It's worse now... anything less than playoffs and the new ownership is likely to fire everyone.

  7. While the notion of stealing seafood is funny and all, Winston's pattern of getting away with doing stupid and illegal things is quite upsetting. He and teammates did $4000 damages to windows on campus residences having a b.b. gun fight. No charges laid. He was accused of rape. And after a brief and botched investigation, no charges were laid. Now this. I wouldn't draft this guy--I would stay away. He is the next Clarrett or Phillips.

Here is the problem with collegiate athletics. Regarding to the rape allegations:

I believe that Mr. Winston cannot be convicted. I don’t necessarily believe that he’s innocent.”

  8. It's not all that matters on this team at this time IMO . This is an important step for him and the team. Not only did he partake in the offseason offensive workouts, he set it up and ran the show(he showed veteran leadership). There needs to be one voice in the huddle and the guys in the huddle be receptive to said voice. I believe this takes a big step towards that. It also can't hurt with timing of routes etc.

Nobody wants a Whitner type leader. Everybody wants a Kyle Williams or London Fletcher type leader. Please Easter Bunny make EJ the franchise QB we've waited so long for!

  9. Nothing but best wishes for Jim, the Kellys, the Wilsons, and all their friends and families. We all moan and groan about our team and the boneheaded moves over the past 15 years, but this is a real legitimately tragic time for the team. A real bummer week for Bills fans--hug your kids, parents, friends or those close to you cause these are the good old days.

  10. I could almost change my opinion of Kraft if that's from his heart.

Doubtful Jerrah will say anything. Even though he owed Ralph for things his rich butt didn't understand in the CBA.

It can't be bad that the NFLs premier owner is saying they're committed to WNY.

  11. This is nuts. This is the league that requires middle age and elderly men typically overweight to wear athletic gear on the sideline. The NFL should start a line of suits and dress wear and have the coaches wear that on the sidelines and sell that.

Its okay to look like a morbidly obese Ned Flanders...but a morbidly obese Big Lebowski, never. I'd take Ed Wood in drag if it meant we were playing this weekend. Stop with the fake morals and standards NFL. Two things matter money and winning. Thats it. Rob Ryan is not an HC. He has not fielded that many dominant defences.

  12. because I'm a masochist I want you to look at this list

    Manning

    Rivers

    Roethlesberger

    Losman

    Smith

    Rodgers

first rounders 2004-2005 NFL drafts--only one is a certifiable bust--and he, to my knowlege, doesn't wear bolo ties.

Rivers may throw funny but at least he doesn't one hop it on a swing pass to Shaud Williams 3 times a game.

  13. I saw a lot of running backs that refuse to be tackled and move the pile. I think the Bills need to seriously address that position. You don't necessarily have to draft a running back (and definitely not in the first three rounds) but nonetheless, that is a position of need for the Bills imho.

I agree. Also look at the success of the three back teams like the Chargers or Packers or Patriots. Why not add another multifaceted back or an inside pounder type.

  14. I would absolutely love Kuhn from GB if they let him go, a perfect fit. Good blocker, runner and has decent hands. Would be a great FB for the Bills.

Love this idea. An RB or skilled FB. I really liked the three headed monster of Woodhead, Brown, and Mathews or the Pats with Ridley, Vereen, and Blount. If a multipurpose back is available get him.

  15. The minute he was drafted over Orakpo it was 1.) Over for his career as he will always be compared to a far superior player. 2.) The most obviously, horrible decision in NFL draft history.

If you locked Orakpo and Maybin in a room together before draft day and only one could come out. Orakpo would be walking out of the room without breaking a sweat.

Its hard to find another example where a decision was clearly as bad. For Example if the Colts took Ryan Leaf over Peyton Manning at the time it would not have been a horrible decision. At the time and after the time it was clearly a horrible decision to take Maybin over Orakpo.

That being said. I applaud his persistence I hope he dominates the CFL.

I can think of several Bills decisions where the next few players were far superior. Maybin/Moreno/Orakpo, Whitner/Ngata, Troup/Gronkowski, Heck I'll even throw in McKelvin/Clady
