  1. Not ready. How often has it been the case that a new coordinator has success, only to fall back to earth after teams adapt to their tendencies?

I will say that Dorsey was a cancer. Promoting him to OC almost destroyed this team.

With that perspective,  Brady is doing a great job so far.

Dorsey was a rolodex coordinator. He didn't have any strategy. Brady is definitely more of a strategist. And he knows how to use Cook. Let's get all the RBs involved!

What Brady is doing with the backs and Cook is fantastic.  Very entertaining. If you never got to see and appreciate Thurman, Cook gives you a taste. So frustrating to see Beane get this talent and then not use it earlier in the year.

Not sure about the comparison to a HoF player. But yes, Thurman was an elite pass catcher in his time. If Cook can get going even more this team will win more games no doubt.

I understand what you’re saying but mahomes tried to justify his meltdown over an obvious and indisputable penalty by saying judgement calls by refs are ruining the game.  We all know judgement calls have swung games in the final moments but this was not that at all

It’s really not much different than Toney running the wrong route or dropping a wide open td then turning around and blaming the refs

I agree. Actually, it's a separate point that the officiating has sucked this year league wide. It would be nice if the players addressed it not during the heat of the moment. Maybe the NFLPA should make some demands for changes to how the NFL does its officiating business. It's disgraceful.

But I just saw the clip of Mahomes in the post-game hug with Allen bitching to Allen about the call. I agree he's being [fill in the blank] in that moment. Maybe he's mad he's not getting the Swift [fill in the blank]

remember that the Chiefs spent the week watching film of the Eagles /Bills game in which the refs completely dominated the outcome by throwing 10 flags more on Buffalo in the first half alone.

and they are complaining about one play/flag?

How much laughing at the Bills misfortune do you think there was in the film room this past week at Arrowhead?

True but this is the problem with NFL. There are terrible calls every week that go against teams. Sometimes it evens out, and sometimes it doesn't. For the team who gets screwed, they complain. But for the team who benefits from a bogus call, they keep their mouths shut. They are thinking "we have had so many bogus calls go against us, it's about time we got a lucky break."

Not saying that's the case this week. Dude was clearly offside and it was the right call.

But, last week, there was an egregious NO CALL against the Packers that cost KC the game.

Not only that, but there have been multiple games this year that were decided not by the players, but by the officials and their terrible calls. I agree with the spirit of what Mahomes is saying, even if it's not applicable to this case.

The bottom line is that the NFL officiating is a total disaster and needs to be overhauled and reimagined from the ground up. It's disgraceful.

Yes, BUT he is not an outside wr, he thrives in the slot. Leave him there, stuck with Davis rest of year

Are we sure? Chris Simms said on his podcast that they should try Davis in the slot and put Shakir on the boundary. Why can't Shakir play on the outside? I'm honestly asking.

Gabe “Decoy” Davis going forward. Please and thanks!

Guy is a competent run blocker and that was the biggest change in this game… A successful run game and actually sticking with it.

Cook and the OLine had a heck of a game.

That's is a pretty sad way to characterize a supposed #2 receiver: "a competent run blocker."

Chris Simms said on his podcast multiple times that Gabe is not a legit #2. Said Shakir is a stronger option on the boundary and Davis should be in the slot.  If all Gabe brings to the table is run blocking it's time to move on from him.

  6. I hope so. Davis had his moment of fame. He was a one-hit wonder. He's not fast; he doesn't run great routes; and he doesn't have good hands. Plus he doesn't seem like great leader. He had his all-time great game and we'll always remember that moment of awesome.

But he's practice squad material at this point. Time to move on.

Wow that is unhinged. Cook hadn't fumbled since his very first snap in his very first game. We lost two drives because of Murray's mistakes - on one drive he dropped a pass with only one man to beat in front of him, and then on another drive he got tracked down and tackled by a freaking nose tackle.

    McDermott is floundering IMO.

The big mistake in all of this was choosing Dorsey in the first place. Who lets a 26 year QB choose his own offensive coordinator? That's ridiculous. "We want Josh to be happy and comfortable." Again, ridiculous. Pick the best coach. Dorsey was not the best guy available to coach the 11 guys on offense.

For all the talk about Dorsey's X's and O's I think your point was likely his biggest flaw. A huge part of coaching isn't just telling people the right things to do, it is getting them to do those things, finding the right words, to get the desired results. In fact, most coaches in the NFL are likely pretty comparable when it comes to x's and o's, but the difference between good to great is communicating that, and providing the proper environment/structure around it.

Like a bunch of former QB's have said "guys are open, you have to make a play". Some of that is on the individual and some is on the coach.

Whatever Dorsey was saying, nobody was hearing. It was time to move on because of that more so than any play call.

I posted this in another thread, but it's super related to Dorsey's leadership position. It's clear that Dorsey is NOT A LEADER OF MEN.

Watched Joe Brady's press conference. He is a hell of a lot more articulate than Dorsey.

I couldn't believe how INARTICULATE Dorsey was! Stammering, stuttering, evading, incoherent guy when speaking. Either he wasn't aware, or he did not care about his poor public speaking. It seems a JOKE now that he was being considered for head-coaching gigs last year. How can a guy like that, who can barely speak, barely answer a question, be the face of a franchise?

Not to mention, if he can't communicate in a down-to-earth way to the press, how well is he going to communicate with his players? I know it does not directly correlate, but it's a reasonable question to ask. Communication skills are communication skills. Dorsey, judging by his press conferences, had PATHETIC communication skills

"Yeah, no, yeah, no, yeah no, no yeah,"  over and over again. What a weird verbal tic. Why speak that way when performing public speaking engagements? It's part of your job (even if it's not the most important one." You should still try to get better at it.

Brady at least speaks confidently and commandingly. It may not translate into results. But at least you can listen to him speak without cringing

He's obviously smart enough. I'm not sure if anyone knew this, but he went to Harvard. He loves the game and loves Buffalo. I'd give him a shot. Maybe he could get Josh's head back in the game instead of in his ass.

Fitz + Allen = multiple SB championships. I'm all in on this.

    Honestly, the fans/media.

McDermott has been fielding questions from Tim Graham and others since the week after Miami about Dorsey and if he would lose playcalling duties. This stoked the fans fire and with the offense struggling, the drum beat grew louder. It finally came to a head yesterday.

And it's almost hysterical how many fans are. Almost everyone wanted to see Dorsey fired. Then when he gets fired a certain percentage turn it into "he fired him as a scape goat and to save his own arse".

But Marv Levy said "if you start listening to the fans soon you'll be sitting among them."
