  1. It makes perfect sense. As the temperture gets colder and the winds and snows start blowing harder the passing game is especially hard to execute. I know in Denver he was limited in cold weather windy games because he had QBs with average arms. He has since stated that if he chooses a QB he is going to choose one that can make all the throws on the field. This QB will be able to complete passes even when that December winds start blowing. That is why he drafted Cutler. He wanted a QB that could throw to any spot on the field. Now I don't know what kind of arm Edward has but it seems pretty good to me.
  2. Shanahan would be the perfect coach for Buffalo. It gets cold in Buffalo and when it gets cold your team has to be able to run the ball.....hmmmmmm..what team had the most rushing yards from 1995 to 2008? Anyone?? Denver. Shanahan loves his version of the west coast offense. In fact he doesn't really run the west coast offense he runs Shanahan's offense, which is much more run heavy than what true west coast teams play. All off season he has been recharging his batteries, visiting other teams training camps(Pats,Steelers). He would like to work with a QB as smart as Tony Romo, he would like to work for an owner that spends like Daniel Snyder, but he also would be perfectly comfortable in a cold weather, blue collar city like Buffalo where he could mold the talent and the team into a tough run first team that could beat the Patriots. He would be a great fit for almost any town and I believe Buffalo would be very fortunate to land him. I think a couple of things could determine if he wants Buffalo. If he likes Trent Edwards as a QB then I think that bolds very well for the Bills. If he doesn't like Edwards is there a QB in the draft that he likes that Buffalo would be able to land? (personally, I think Trent Edwards has all the tools to be a very good QB in the NFL) I'm pretty sure he isn't going to like Jason Campbell of the Redskins. I know he would like Tony Romo, after all Elway didn't win a Superbowl before Shanahan arrived either, Romo could be another version of that story. IMO I don't think he lands in Chicago or Washington. I think this comes down to Dallas, Buffalo and Carolina with Dallas having the advantage. I think Carolina will go after Cowher and Shanahan whoever they can land. Their preference will be Cowher and I believe he will coach there next year. So that leaves Buffalo and Dallas, and I say WHY NOT BUFFALO? People state that Shanahan has not won a SB without John Elway, Well Elway never won a SB without Mike Shanahan. Since leaving Denver Shanahan's winning percentage was 58%. A 58% with a team that was QB by Brian Greise and Jake Plummer???? That is awesome!! There were two things that happened that sabotaged Shanahan from winning another Super bowl in Denver. The first was John Elway's fault. Elway held off his decision to retire well into the spring that year, and this really pissed Shanahan off. There was a rift between them because of this. Shanahan never wanted Brister as his QB and if Elway would have announced his retirement sooner Shanahan would have went after Rich Gannon in FA. Gannon wanted to play in Denver, but the Raiders were able to sign him before Elway announced his retirement. The 2nd reason he never won a SB was partially his fault. After deciding that Griese wasn't their QB Denver went into the FA market, which was very thin at QB that year and they signed the best player available who was Jake Plummer. Plummer was good enough to start, but he was never going to be good enough to win anything and Denver wasted too many years on him. They would have been better off riding Griese and drafting their stud QB of the future. Shanahan got fired because he didn't get Denver to that third SB. He didn't get that third SB not because he couldn't coach he didn't get there because he made a mistake at the QB position. He realizes now if he is in the same conference with Tom Brady and Peyton Manning he needs a good QB as well, one that is not limited in his throws by lack of arm strength, but it took him to long to realize this. I think he realizes this now. Both Plummer and Griese were limited thus his offense was limited in what they could run. His next place he coaches he won't need a HOF QB but he will need a QB that can make all the throws and stretch the field so it will open up the running game. He can do that in Buffalo, I believe he can do this with Edwards. If not all he has to do is draft the guy and Buffalo will be in business.
