  1. my opinion, BPA first round( OT, WR, CB, scond round, BPA, i do like Dont'a Hightower (stud linebacker need, depth).

I agree with both of you. I think kuechly is going to be a good player wherever he plays. I have no reasoning except I think hes got great instincts, desire, athletic ability and proved it with play on the field. However, taking a guy at 10 and playing him at a position he's never played is a risk. If it were a 2nd rd pick, it's easier to get over. Picking 10, you better get a contributor.

  2. Depending on whats available during drafting at 10, the Bills should take a look at Decastro and Reiff (for RG and RT) to provide more talent for the offensive line. These moves would certianly bring in more depth this line clearly needs. Unfortunaltey, as members have written, Kahlil is the safest OLT to draft in the first round and most likely will not there at 10.

  3. I am going with a friend that lives in Manhattan. He assures me there is bus transportation from Port Authority to all Meadowlands events. So anyone can get out there from midtown that way.

There is a bus service, I have taken it a few times to the Meadowlands complex for past sporting events.

  4. Veteran Linebacker Lance Briggs from the Chicago Bears has recently went to team management and asked for a trade out of Chicago. According to espn sources he wants a new contract, most likely he will not be granted one during the season as the article on espn.com said they are already thin at the postion. Would any of you like to make a run at him if your GM?. I would, but it would depend on compensation. Linebacker Lance Briggs has made a formal request that he be able to seek a trade from the Chicago Bears after the team would not give him a raise.

"The Bears were justified to ask Lance Briggs to honor his contract, and the linebacker doesn't have much leverage.

"The Bears made their decision, now I have to make mine," Briggs told the Chicago Tribune Thursday. "It's just how the business works. It's not going to take away from what I do on the field. I'm 100 percent a Bear, until I'm not a Bear anymore."

Agent Drew Rosenhaus sent an email to Bears contract negotiator Cliff Stein requesting the trade, the newspaper reported.

Briggs has three years remaining on the six-year, $36 million deal he signed in 2008. He is slated to earn $3.9 million this season, $4 million in 2012 and $6.5 million in 2013.

Briggs said he was willing to wait until after the season to request a trade if the Bears didn't budge, but after speaking to general manager Jerry Angelo Sunday, he decided to move now.

"I understand and respect their decision," Briggs said, according to the newspaper.

Briggs is a six-time Pro Bowler who has spent his entire career with the Bears after being selected in the third round of the 2003 draft".

  5. We're picking AJ Green anyway..

If AJ Green is the best player at 3 that would still be a good pick for this team, fill a need, provided they dont pass up a defensive stuff. However it would provide another weapon for an offense that still lacks playmakers, making opposing defensive coordinators have to game plan for AJ, Lee and Stevie with our running game would help the offense score more.

With that opinion said, Lee Evans is clearly not a #1 neither is Stevie, AJ would fit the bill.

Lets not forget free agency comes first, so if the team can sign a few players at key positions of need and re-sign their own ufa's they feel should be part of their long term plans then that will help them going into their draft plans and draft the best player despite position..

    Brohm’s done this before

Posted by Chris Brown on December 30, 2010 – 3:56 pm

With Brian Brohm taking first team reps the past two days of practice and Ryan Fitzpatrick’s status truly up in the air, Brohm could once again be making a late season start for the Bills on Sunday.

Brohm started in Week 16 last season at Atlanta in a much different offensive system than that of Chan Gailey. Brohm went 17-29 for 146 yards and a pair of INTs in a 31-3 loss.

If he in fact starts on Sunday it will be interesting to see what he can do in Gailey’s offensive system after a consistent if not spectacular preseason this past summer.

  7. Update on potential Sabres' sale: Campbell of The Hockey News (THN.com) reports "billionaire Terry Pegula has signed a letter of intent to buy the Buffalo Sabres from Tom Golisano for about $150 million".

On Monday, we here at NHL Rumor Central revealed the Sabres may be for sale and Pegula was a potential buyer. The President and CEO of East Resources recently gave an $88 million dollar gift to Penn State University to fund scholarships for Division 1 hockey and construct a rink.

Pegula's wife, Kim, is from the Buffalo-area.

  8. sabres may be for sale

Buffalo Sabres espn.core.init.tools('nhl-rumors-5087','http://insider.espn.go.com/nhl/features/rumors/_/id/5087');buf.gif Care to purchase an NHL hockey team?

According to Kevin Paul Dupont of The Boston Globe, there's chatter Buffalo Sabres' owner Tom Golisano is looking to sell - at some stage.

Dupont says prospective buyers include Research In Motion co-CEO Jim Balsillie and Terrence Pegula, President and CEO of East Resources. Pegula recently gave an $88 million dollar gift to Penn State University to fund scholarships for Division 1 hockey and construct a rink.

Dupont also points out that Pegula's wife is from the Buffalo-area. Therefore, if he bought the franchise, there might be a smaller chance of relocation.

  9. Agreed, it IS time to see what Brian Brohm can do, give him the rest of the season. If he plays well maybe the Bills won't have to burn a high draft pick for a qb. Everyone knows what Fitz can do AS A backup. The organization is already recognizing who is staying/going for the future, if he cant play well by the end of the yr and he doesnt improve week to week, then I see no reason to keep him beyond this year. Great post!

Your not going to hear any Ryan Fitzpatrick bashing from me. We got a little more then expected in leaderhip and the guy gave it all. He is my choice for 2nd String and that is saying alot. He belongs here.

We have got to get an extented look at Brian Brohm and now is the time, I would also like to take a short look and Levi Brown.

Its the evaluation process before we invest in a drafted quarterback.....

  10. Actually The new regime inherited this mess. This is part of their rebuliding mode, granted we all would have been happier to get at least a third round pick for Lynch. But it is better to get 2 picks for a former pro bowler, malcontent bone head than get none at all, who can leave the following year.

As for this past draft. I believe CJ Spiller was their guy they took off the board as the best player available, I have heard they wanted Trent Williams or Russel Okung but they were taken ahead of the Bills. Each regime makes their own stamp with their own vision. I don't believe their are done wheeling and dealing.

Nix brought this on himself. We already had two good RB's in hand (and under contract I might add) and huge needs elsewhere yet decided to draft another RB with our precious 1st pick. He basically gave away one of the few assets on the team in Lynch for nothing and used another 1st round pick to draft a RB. Talk about spinning your wheels. In a way it was kind of like when Levy passed on Ngata for Whitner only to trade back into the first round to draft McCargo. The Bills continue to reach new depths of utter stupidity. This is the final nail in the coffin I believe as there is absolutely no chance the team will be competitive while Ralph Wilson is still alive which is likely less than 3-4 years.

  11. Davien, here are the Real facts from ESPN Insider...

UPDATE: Whether or not the Packers are ready to pull the trigger on a trade to bring in Marshawn Lynch (see below), it might be a moot point.

Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com reports that the Bills' position has not changed: they plan on keeping their stable of three running backs intact, regardless of the logic of turning one of the extras into a draft pick or starting-caliber player at another position.

    ---

On Wednesday, the football-loving world was abuzz with speculation that Lynch could be traded to the Green Bay Packers to help make up for the loss of Ryan Grant. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers -- Lynch's teammate at Cal -- seems to have greenlighted the idea, given his comments to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Coincidentally, the Pack have a pretty good commodity to send to Buffalo in A.J. Hawk. Hawk doesn't play in the team's nickel and dime packages, thus he was on the sidelines for the entire game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. While he's not specifically requesting a trade, he'd be open to a fresh start, according to what his agent told Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

"A.J. is a pro's pro and wants to do his part to help the team win, and his first priority is to be the best Packer he can," agent Mike McCartney said on Wednesday. "But if some team called and wanted him to play on all three downs, I think he'd be excited about that."

The Bills would offer that opportunity, at least initially, given the injury to Paul Posluszny. On the other hand, we're not so sure the Pack are willing to make a trade at all, but especially not before seeing what they've really got in Brandon Jackson.

  12. I completely understand, but seeing as we are playing for money, I had to draft for talent and need over how it's going to make me feel on game day. Believe me, if we are playing the Jets and Shonn Greene scores, I am not happy at all, but at the end of the day I am at least getting something back for it.

Actually in imho there shouldnt be a reason not to take any of the guys from rivals, that was mentioned above. I'm okay with the guys I picked for my team, i hope they score, but I just hope the team ends up losing when they play the Bills..

  13. What solid "D" are you talking about??? Dominant Run Game? We had neither last year and with no QB or O-line teams again...like last year, and the year before oh and the year before that will stack the box and we will drown. I'm sorry but I do not see Carrington and Troupe doing all that much this year. It's going to take another draft or two and 4 years before we compete realistically. 2014 is when we break the playoff drought.

if that is so, it is worth noting in 2014 the Bills lease expires...

  14. This draft is now over, Next year The Bills will probably have a high pick my guess is they go 4-12 (hopefully not though). So with that being said at this point it should be imparitive they they select an elite LT, QB (Jake Locker), followed by drafting the best receiver to go with Lee on the other side no matter what it takes. those 3 need to be addressed. Unfortunatley they only have one pick, but could have two with trades either for picks or players. So anything is possible, but then again it is a big financial investment the FO may not want to invest in?

If they make trades to trade down great, if not then trade back up and get those 3 positions solidified no matter what unless the quality of the talent isnt there. Followed by solid OL choices/ LB. thats all unless something happens in an area of need that comes unexpectedly.

    Let the debates begin now.

  15. Have you considered why the Ravens would be interested in trading Gaither? Good young tackles, whether they play the right side or left, are not usually offered on the trade market. When Gaither was at the Univ. of Maryland he was replaced by a less talented player. The HC said that he would rather play a lesser player who worked hard than play a more talented player who was less diligent in his work habits. Gaither then decided to leave school and was available in the supplemental draft. In college, Gaither was considered a very talented player who didn't play up to his immense potential because of his immaturity.

If Gaither is available for a trade it is because there is an issue with him. The Bills need to keep their own high draft picks and draft their own players. That is the right way to build a quality team.

I agree with your thoughts. A first rounder for an OT who no longer is viewed is an important to their core of players is probably not wise to surrender a high pick. Save your picks and draft your own guys, or use them to trade back or up in the draft.
