  1. If our team is successful scoring points and I think we will be, we need some possible names for the new offense under Chan Gaily. Any ideas guys and gals? It gave me an idea. For example how about calling our new offense the "Wing It" or Buffalo Split Wingt" attack. Wide outs on both sides, backs splitting out any way you get the idea. A nice play on words and city tradition. Again lets hear some of your ideas for a nick name.

  2. Should we change the name of Buffalo Wings...because they are now consumed by a wider market? I mean, after all, if we apply the reasoning above, wouldn't North American Wings make more sense?

No. The brand....which albeit....we have gotten way far away from the last 10 years.....of the Buffalo Bills is:

    1. Punishing Defense that only gets hungrier and angrier as the game goes on and the weather gets worse.

    2. The weather...while bringing cold discomfort to the opponent, only adds firery wrath to our fans who can't feel the cold. Whether that is due to years of conditioning, zealotry, or inebriation, can't be known, and therefore adds to the mystique.

    3. Soccer moms who are scarier to opposing teams than even the most bizarrely dressed Raiders fan...because they are LOUDER, and will keep cheering the whole game regardless of the score! :D

    4. A city who has every reason to feel bad....refusing to...and instead feeling good about their team, thus confounding the rest of the nation.

    5. And of course, the most important ingredient: when the Bills are winning, they can't be angry. They can't hate. They know that we are the good guys, whether they want to admit it or not it irrelevant.

We haven't seen this brand for a while, but it is still there, in the minds of those who can remember. The best is that we seem to be headed back in that direction. That's why I don't care as much about the offense, or who the QB is. As long as they can finish what the D starts, and then, as the sheets of rain and snow come down, and the winds of FAIL swirl around the other team, run the ball to close the game, we will be back to our brand of football.

A brand, that can only emanate from one place, one stadium, and one fan base.

  3. Last night a few of us had a good conversation on Shoutbox about Chris Berman. That guy is way past his prime. During the home run derby last night he said BACK BACK BACK BACK GONE every single time a ball was hit. I had to hit mute at times just to enjoy the home runs. He should only be allowed to do the Sunday night NFL wrap up with Tom Jackson. I can't believe ESPN is allowing Berman to do a MNF game this year. I am tired of the old antics of Dick Vitale, Chris Berman, and Lee Corso. Here is a video from last night when a true baseball great schooled Chris Berman on air:

    http://sports.yahoo.com/sportsminute

ESPN created the way in which around the clock sports news is delivered..Berman is one of the original guys from the era...Oberman , Dan Patrick etc...At one time it was fresh, innovative and funny...Its' hey day was the 90's-Some of the "This is Sportscenter" pieces were great , but now it is all tired , old and just played out. Time for them to re-think the whole model before it becomes obsolete. I do like Berman as the elder spokesman for ESPN-He is actually very bright and insightful when he is asking and answering questions, and delivering a straight forward, semi-serious broadcast...And you HAVE TO appreciate his love of The Bills during the darkest of days...

Dude, Get a life. Telling us "he sucks" after all the national attention he has given our Bills you got some serious problems if thats the best post you can make stay off the board.

  4. I am and will always be a Buffalonian. I was born and raised there on Main street, Sisters Hospital to be exact. I love the people of Western New York because they helped mold me into the successful person I am today. Let me say this, the people of Western New York are a unique breed of people. There ethnic diversity I billieve is what makes this area of America so different. The food, the culture, the underdog mentality, even the weather almost gives this area a "Spartan Like" quality. Our neighbors to the North although another country have co-existed with us for hundreds of years is another tribute to the people of this entire region. Buffalo and all of Western New YORK is an area every one should be proud of. Granted it may not be for everyone, but people around the country are taking notice of our region and our football team is a big part of the reason why. So Go Bills, Go Sabres, and of course... Lets Go Buffalo.

  5. 1. O.J. SIMPSON....Best pure runner in the NFL and College. Every Sunday every opposing defense and entire stadiums new who was going to get the ball on first and third downs and still could not stop this man. 2000 yards in fourteen games will never be duplicated again, period.

    2. Jim Kelly...... When asked by a reported if he was having problems over throwing receivers upon his arrival in Buffalo he said he was "use to faster receivers" in the USFL, they finally cut the guys he was talking about and the Andre Reed/ James Lofton era soon followed along with four Super Bowl appearances.

    3. Bruce Smith..... With less than 2% body fat and whatever he weighed I never seen a defensive end spend as much time in an opposing teams backfield! Running down opposing teams backs and quarterbacks was his specialty, this is why he was better than Reggie White.

    4. Cookie Gilchrist... Tough-fess SOB to put on a Bills uniform. Light years ahead of his time both mentally and physically. The Cookie never crumbled! Look at his average yards per carry. Nuff said.

    5. Thurman Thomas... Great hands receiving coming out of the backfield. Lacked Simpsons speed and power but a better receiver. Great all around back.

    6. Honorable mention.... Ron McDole...Tom Sestak...Andre Reed and Cornielus Bennett

  6. It would make a great NFL story line. We do not know his football acumen or his ability to absorb a NFL play book, reaction under pressure etc. but it's hard to argue about his ability to place a football and his arm strength. Give him a shot maybe he can be that 3rd QB developmental project on our roster. The little bit of college game tape I saw of him looked pretty good even though his resume was against non Division I schools. Definitely worth the chance though! Also I thought I read the Pittsburgh Steelers already signed Alex Tanney QB Monmouth college to to a contract. Is that true or not?

  7. I believe what we are seeing is Buddy Nix playing one hell of a hand of "Texas Hold Em" in an attempt to steer his counter parts into pulling the trigger on picks that he knows need to be gone in an attempt to get his guy at #10. All GMs play this game but I believe he will keep all his picks and try to manipulate the teams in front of him. Will see who wins this game tonight! What ever he decides to do I got to go with Buddies instincts lets face it he has had a hot hand so far. Again I got to go with our guy Buddy pulling it off tonight regardless of what he does and how he does it.

  8. I can see this happening, however I would trade down in the first round to make this happen if we could find a trade partner. Georgia Tech's offensive style currently is not exactly wide receiver friendly when it comes to posting big numbers on the national level statistic wise. He definitly can run, catch, has excellent size and is an intelligent young man. He will be gone in the first round, no and ifs about it. I think it will be him or the kid "Pretty Boy Floyd" out of Notre Dame. Oh by the way wide receiver is the second toughtest position after QB to learn on offense. When you hear a kid runs poor routes it is a polite way of saying he is not very bright upstairs. Academics are still very important at both schools. I'm fine with either one if wide receiver is the way they want to go. Chan still has very good contacts at Tech so I am sure his scouting reports will be very accurate.

  9. Todd McShay just released his latest Mock draft today at ESPN insider. He still has the Bills taking Courtney Upshaw - Alabama ! I'd be o.k. with that ! <_<

YOUR KIDDING RIGHT! Did not run today at his work out, tendinitis in his knee. Sounds like an immediate starter with no health issues, for a 10th overall pick no way. Can't wait to see him healthy. An immediate impact player? I don't think so. Thats a lot of money to give a guy who's missed two work outs for NFL scouts already, but to each his own.

  10. I don't know what it would take to get him, however I think the time clock is working against the Bills in regards to the situation involving Fitzpatrick's contract. I do think they have enough picks this year with the extra 4th and fifth round picks to make a move for RG3 if they chose to. Giving up a first and second rounder this year and a first and what ever next year would work provided they signed some solid free agents whether it would be at the DE or WR positions. This probably could be done with the money they saved from cutting Fitz and of course they would have to have a lot of faith in their scouting department for the upcoming draft. Its a gamble but I would go for it. Signing a seasoned QB to tutor the kid should be fairly easy, there's plenty of them out there. It sure would generate fan interest as well as season ticket sales. Yeah I like the idea. The reality of it all is their front office jobs are on the line whether they do or they don't. Lets face it our chances of going to the Super Bowl this upcoming season are slim but then again the forty niners almost did it with a new coach so anything is possible. Interesting topic though.

  11. http://stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/leaders.asp?range=nfl&type=receiving&rank=232

He isn't in ranked in the top 20 for dropped passes....hearing everyone talk up Bowe and he is ranked 2nd most dropped passes.....

Learn to appreciate what we have....

I agree. watched them all from "Golden Wheels to SJ. The one dropped pass that hurt the most was Ronnie Harmon's in Cleveland. I was there in the end zone behind him. If I had been closer I think I would have caught it! Kelly threw a perfect pass and the the guy just blew it, what was really bad it was an easy easy catch and it had playoff implications to make it worse. In short they all drop passes given time, just like all baseball players strike out. Resign him he's a very very good young receiver its that simple.

  12. Whaley is not going anywhere.

Buddy Nix brought him in to take over as GM. This was clear to everyone in the NFL including Whaley.

The Bills could not clean house, including Whaley.

The Fans may want to clean house but it "ain't gonna happen"

Whaley was a bit of coup to bring in house. Whaley is looked at as one of the up and coming executives in the NFL. His mark was placed on the Bills 2011 draft.

If the organization's decision is lose Whaley or keep Nix. Nix actually will be retiring; like the rumor mill that is swirling is saying.

Whaley spent years in Pittsburgh, so he is not clamoring for life in the big city. He just bought a nice house by Delaware Park. I don't think he is trying to leave. I think he knows the plan is for him to take over and he will live up to the plan. Nix isn't getting any younger and they probably already discussed the timeline for the transition.

"Indianapolis is a nice place to live?" That is the first time that has ever been said. It is called Napianapolis as in ZZzZZZZZ there is nothing to do but take a Nap.

But yes Whaley could take the bird in hand rather than a bird in the bush, but I'd be surprised if the Bills grant permission for an interview. They can't let Whaley go. It would be a death-nail type of brain drain, He would take his team with him and the Bills would essentially be rebuilding again.

Whats the old cliche? " Money talks and something to do with a bull walks". The choice will be his. Would you stay for less money and a number 1 pick as well as being involved with the selection of a new head coach? Be honest.

  13.

Are you sure? What if Ralph throws in a monkey wrench and hires Bill Polian. I think he still owns the team and calls the final shots. Buddy Nix may reside over the draft and that makes sense however as we all know anything can happen at One Bills Drive's front office. Stay tuned.

  14. trade up with Jacksonville and draft Robert Griffin III...

next year we have a double headed MONSTER of Freddy and CJ running the ball. Healthy wide receivers, and big Tight End's to throw under...

most importantly, with RG3 our o-line will have less pressure as he can manipulate the pocket almost every play...

defenses will have a field day trying to guard the multiple options we can run every down (opens up Brad Smith even more)...

    _________

Kyle Williams back, and Dareus with experience our d-line is back in bizz...

Aaron Williams with experience and our secondary creates more turnovers (like we saw in the beginning of the year)

AMEN.......... He would bring excitement to our fan base, something this team has lacked since the Jim Kelly era. , You can draft defense in the later rounds or use free agency. He will definitely help by improving ticket sales and finally give the franchise a face at the most important position on the team. I just don't see how drafting a defense man can bring these attributes! Hit or miss on him you got to admit it would be very exciting!

we had a great draft last year and can afford to trade up, not to mention the Lynch trade pick we can move...
