  1. ...This team, from the middle of 08 forward had no offensive identity. They weren't a running team and they couldn't pass the ball much either. I expect the HC, in concert with the OC to have that down at the beginning of the season. I guess that's too much for a coach who wins less than 43% of his games and an OC who couldn't get promoted until he'd been a QBC for 10+ seasons in the NFL.

In the middle of 08' i billeve it was JP at the helm with a scared stupid Edwards following that! I would think that that explains things. When you talk about progress, you can't say that all progress stopped and we lost our identity...MOST TEAMS DO WHEN THEY LOSE THEIR STARTING QB. It was JP not a relapse in progress. We have been making progress and albeit slow we got off to a hot start and got derailed by Adrian Wilson! That is what happened...no reason we couldn't build off of the start we had last year and hopefully we stay healthy!

  2. The fact that each team currently is hanging on about 80 players currently, how much is the 27 or so cuts from each team going to be affected by the economy. Reality would point towards teams avoiding paying that extra year for a player because he has been or could be something. If each team were to allow salary to figure in to decisions that much more, this year could cause teams to drop players they at any other time wouldn't!

  3. ....TO, Stroud....and......um.......did I mention TO & Stroud yet?........let's see, they also really went after......um......last off season they signed up Stroud, and this off season they shocked the football world by signing TO, and they really wanted those two guys and got them. So, every off season the Bills REALLY want somebody, and they get them.....one every season. Like clockwork. Who cares if they interview and target and maybe even offer low-ball contracts to about 5 or 6 every off season that they could afford and would really help the team, right? They always get their ONE guy every off-season they REALLY want.

    Love our Inner Circle. :worthy:

Start looking at the next draft and offseason now cause we got our guy right?

I would hate to agree with this, however there are not too many people on here saying that we need to just stick with what we have and move forward. some say we need help with run D, some say backup QB, some say line and others say LB.

When the track record has been layed and the horrific truth is our FO will probably do nothing else! So sad!

  4. My only hope is that the Bills, having been rejected by another OLB, will actually go out and get Derrick Brooks. I know, he's not the same superstar he was in his prime, but he could add some leadership and identity to our Defense while mentoring the younger guys.

Or they could just go out and sign Jamie Winborn (somewhat likely)

Or they could just do nothing (most likely)

I have been saying this for weeks. And it is also apparent that whatever moves make sense (common type), those are the ones we (our FO) avoid. We bring in TO when nobody thought we would, we allow everybody else to come and go, as nobody else thought we should. Is he the dominant player of old no!!!

I am not expecting that Brooks come here to win another D-MVP award. Simply he fits, is far more productive than any possibility, and can give us two good years. Lets face it, even PT was not a long term answer so why avoid Brooks because his age? Salary is one thing, but damn, we gotta pay somebody in order to win, that is one thing he has done. There is no overvaluing the "been there done that" experience in the NFL. He has much to pass on to our young players!

Makes too much sense so our front office will absolutely avoid this one!!!

  5.

Now i know we do not have a quality backup QB, but if other backfields include multiple RB's, why is Jackson and Rhodes not a part of the equation. They simply put it "what were we thinking". When Moss was a headcase and went to NE in a steal, it was amazing, we sign a headcase and we are out of our skulls. I hate how the bills are crapped on my "experts" because they simply do not spend enough time looking at the bills because they are a team that is simply written off as a small market, non-important team.

Nothing was worse than when the retarded Marshall Faulk spoke crap about the bills and had no idea of players' names or positions. It is appauling!

  6. Who is out there that's available that needs to be on our team in your opinion??

On the Dline- Kevin Carter would be good as a rotational DT. He is still enormous and athletic!

I would add a Mike Brown or Boulware who could man the strong with scott as the sub

Then at LB i would go for Brooks over Pisa for experience and leadership over anything, and they are about the same size!

I would add a player like Ben Troupe to simply be a receiving threat at TE unless Nelson comes along smoothly!

We could use competition like Drew stanton or henson for fitzpatrick to be pushed. Hamdan is not it, though he is all but guaranteed the third qb slot!

As far as the line, we could add a better player for sure bt at what cost. There are so many players already in the many competitions accross the line, there is no way to give enough reps. also the bills have a thing for some of these guys reguardless of how little they have proved! A jones or tauscher addition would not necessarily be smart, and someone like Kuame Harris and such are not upgrades over you and i!

  7. Freddie on one leg is faster than Rhodes. Dont get me wrong i love rhodes and all, it is just that i am not going to say that he is better than Freddie just because we got rhodes...We brought in freddie first and offered him a contract. We also brought in the likes of Deshaun foster and kevin jones prior to agreeing with rhodes...so apparently the bills were much higher on taylor than rhodes as well!

Now we're referring to Fred Taylor as "Fast Freddie"?
  8. Slow down with the injury bit. Fast freddie, turned into fragile freddie the first couple years of his career. He has been an amazing compliment back and stayed healthy while occasionally carrying the load on his own a few years as well as when Jones-drew was banged up. He did get banged up a bit last year but he has been healthy for at least a five year stretch.

comparing the two, him and rhodes, there is really no difference. They are both compliment backs with limited burst at this point and capable hands. Neither capable of carrying the load. Dont get all inflated on rhodes just because he is on our team and start thinking he is better than some who have been much better for much longer. The only thing rhodes does that is better than Taylor, is his birth certificate is newer!

Typical of people to downplay a players career just because he wanted to get "a competitive advantage" and join NE!

Maroney..............................now there is a player that can't hold Taylor's jock. The only comparison between Maroney & Taylor is Maroney is just as INJURY PRONE as Taylor. Between the two of them combined N.E.* should get 12 -14 games played. Is there ANYONE on this board that would rather have Maroney on the Bills than Rhodes?
  9. You have to keep in mind that there are more Receivers who have that DIVA personality in the league. More often than not, each team has an "ocho cinco", or chris henry, as well as jacksonville unloading there entire receiving corps, or Boldin, Burress, or Edwards. It is the diva position and TO is none other than the ring leader.

You cant make a hooker a housewife and you cant make TO the loveable character some were hoping hew would translate into. We new what we were getting and production is a few months away so this is what will be talked about until he begins to play. "He is who we thought he was!!!" (good ole coach Green)

Why would anyone expect Owens to take the high road? And more importantly, who cares?? Let's be real here, when ESPN parades Tent Dilfer out there and refers to him as an NFL expert, credibility has gone out the window in sports reporting. Now we don't even need reporters. All we have to do is surf on over to T.O.'s "twitter" page, and get the answers from him directly. And ESPN pays Fran Charles to report that?

Like I said, if T.O. can give the Bills those 10 TD's this season, I don't care if he twitters, blogs, texts, IM's and (God forbid) even talks on his cell phone to every football fan in America that he hates Buffalo and can't wait to get out when the year ends. When a players signs a one year contract, there really isn't much time or reason to worry about anything else he says or does beyond the 16 (or hopefully) more games he is under contract for. :w00t:

  10. I'm pretty sure Bowen was drafted to be the SAM starter for years. I'm hoping to be pleasently surprized by his performance.

That OBD hasn't addressed a 3-down replacement for Ellison implies to me that it will be done by committe and down/distance scenarios. Maybin recently stated they have plans for him to come after the QB from many different places and Digiorgio, Thomas, Harris and Ellison are all the same 'type' of player.

IMO, the only thing that will blow the whole thing up is if Jauron and staff get canned at season's end and the new regime wants to go 4-3. Then we have nobody.

I was elated with the addition of Bowen, watching him in college next to Tyrone McKenzie, was sweet! I wanted him too and go figure he goes to New England (now out for the year) however he could progress to be the SAM. But as of now Kawika is working as the SAM as he did for a majority last year and very well too. Now not because he is a name, and i know he wants too much at the moment, but if kawika is manning the SAM and Derrick Brooks is a Career cover two WILL, then that would fit us. Not as an everydown player, but he can still produce and be a legit leader! You trickle in Nic Harris and Bowen and there is a great group as well as a great teacher. Who better to help our LB's with a cover 2 scheme than Brooks! I like Pisa too but he will probably end up in Philly!

  11. WRs normally suck in their first year.

Hardy did not come out of a pro-style offense, and he looked lost last year because he was running routes that were almost completely foreign to him. The guy is 6-6 and runs a 4.45, so i say we withhold judgment on him until he has 2-3 years in the league. The guy was a project coming out of school, played basketball prior to football at IU, and was a 2nd round pick because everyone knew he wouldn't be a difference maker right away.

Some of you people need to actually read about Hardy before you pass judgment.

I agree! WR is the hardest position to get the hang of immediately outside of QB. You not only have to have the playbook and reads down there also has to be a repoire with the QB. Dallas' trade for Roy williams last year made no sense because he was not going to pay immediate dividends. Not mid season. Hardy last year was not available for Trent early and the injuries set him back. Does that mean you right him off because your expectations of a first year, rookie WR were inflated.....NO!
