  1. bring it. First round pick- Poz- let them go for nothing. Top lineman Levitre- let them go- and have no replacement plan. First round pick- Lynch- let him go for a 4th and win superbowl. First round pick Whitner- let him go. First round pick Clements- go. ETC. Waste first round picks, then either ignore their replacement, or waste another high draft pick replacing player instead of filling a hole at another position. Its maddening. And next year we have more free agents. I suppose we will let them go for nothing too. It is !@#$ing maddening

As another long suffering Bills fan did anyone really expect anything different? Byrd wanted top money, we only offered 7.5 mil per year for a great player, NO offered right about 9. Glad that Overdorf and Littman still handling the contracts and money. I fully expect our 15th year with no playoffs this season. Somewhere between 4-6 wins sounds about right. Should be fun to see how the front office spins it though.

  2. Looks like we are sure in for our 15th straight year of missing he playoffs and probably 7th straight year of finishing last in AFC East. Can't wait for all the spin on this. At the end of the day good teams keep their best players and teams like the Bills continue to do everything possible to save money and keep the team below average. Great day to be a Bills fan, im sure everyone will love it this week if the Toronto series goes on as expected. The team sure knows how to hammer the fans.

  3. I don't see how they just let him walk without tagging him as is being reported. This is another stupid move by our terrible front office if it happens. How do they expect to end the playoff drought by continually letting a top player on the team walk away each year and either not filling the hole made or having to spend a high pick on a hole they let develop, thus continuing our decade and half rebuilding project. I fully expect this to be year 15 without any playoffs. Its so fun to be a Bills fan!

  4. The very idea that Littman and Overdorf may have "significant control over football matters" is well beyond disturbing for me as a Bills fan... B-)

I would agree. Long time fans know that these guys have had say and been yes men for Ralph for the entirety of the losing the past 14 years. Its time they get tossed to the curb. Im glad the report is out so at least maybe something will happen. I'll be curious if Brandon actually will respond. The fans want a winner, he claims to be committed to that. Its time for him to do more than just talk about it.

  5. These guys have a nice idea, but I think it's a bit naive, your points are well taken.

Buying a team will be somewaht akin to buying a co-op in Manhattan. Lots of finacial data will need to be scrutinized by the co-op board (NFL owners) to see if the buyer is financially viable. I would guess that, if under "Assets" they see "fan donation", they will kindly decline the owner's bid.

I'm not knocking the thought of fans wanting to give money to keep the team in Buffalo. I'm pointing out that some here are mischaracterizing the entire plan as a loan or investment by the public. It's misleading--in both of those scenarios, the fan forking over the money would expect monetary return. Why can't we call it what the guys who thought it call it--a gift?

The standard deduction for a couple filing jointly is $12,200. If you are donating more than this to your church and others, I commend you. But you can see why a fan donating a few hundred dollars will not reap a tax benefit unless that donation to the Bills puts his total itemized donations above the standard deduction. Also, it is a deduction off of your taxable income, not your tax owed.

Yeah I could care less what its called a gift, an investment where you get nothing in return or just call it someone being a huge Bills fan. As far as tax goes I'd say whether or not it would put someone over the standard deduction it seems from the outside to have more of an incentive if its tax deductible even if that means no change to the amount due to IRS or the amount you get as a refund. People seem to love giving to places where they can claim it though is all I'm saying. Especially if you do get some people who are real gung ho and want to donate a few thousand then it would certainly bring down there taxable income and possibly increase their refund coming back.

Obviously this is just the start of their idea, I do commend people for trying to do something which may or may not help keep the Bills in Buffalo but hey at least its something right?

  6. This is ridiculous. Now the Bills are a charity? Let's see, give $200 for the homeless, or $200 to the Bills. Tough decision........

Now THAT is a reality check. Agree!

Yeah make sure you post up a copy of that cashed check to the Bills

No one is going to force you to contribute that is part of the point, its not tax payer money its people if they choose to donate and be a part of it. Clearly you have no interest and that is fine, no real need to bash others who wan to contribute though.

    Oy, never mind.

As mentioned feel free not to contribute but if others care about the team and choose this way to try and do something proactive why keep trying to shoot that down. Because you choose not to that is fine but let others do as they please. And as far as charitable giving you are incorrect as there is more incentive to donate if its tax deductible. I being someone who donates both to my church and host of other charities is a ways above standard deduction amount and itemize so if this fund becomes a 501c3 then there is even more incentive for me to put something towards it.

  7. It's funny-- reading all the stuff Pettine has been saying, I thought the same thing. Not to diss Marrone, but Pettine comes across a lot better. If I were a Browns' fan, I would be really excited.

We got the short end of the stick here, I wouldn't be shocked if the Browns are better than us this coming year and our D goes down a notch or two. At this point if we win 4-5 games I think Whaley and Russ have no choice to fire Marrone and staff because I feel like the fans have had enough and we all have a much shorter fuse. I am in no way remotely optimistic for next season after this and with our schedule of AFC West teams and NFC North, while not great are probably better than us other than maybe the Vikings.

  8. i'm making no such suggestion regarding Jauron or Marv.

i'm sayign continuity is a problem in part because the Bills haven't gotten it right in the first place going back to January 2006, when the upheavel that followed Donahoe's firing and the directionless approach the team took following that move still resonates to this day.

the team finally has a GM in place, someone who has NFL experience as a personnel person. and they have a coach in place, too, who seems to have begun establishing an identity for this franchise. to suggest that last season was an out-and-out failure seems to discount much of the positive that did occur.

this team needs to now build on that. and this is an important year.

but i get the sense from some of these posts that there is a growing sentiment among some fans that the Bills should've changed course yet again after another 6-10 season. really?

    jw

I don't think they should have changed course rather never should have hired Marrone who was with a .500 record at Cuse. They could aim higher or try and hire a competent coach. We continue to hire guys who have been fired elsewhere or failed elsewhere or bring in mediocre coaches and expect big production from them. I can't see the winning start until the ownership thing is figured out as if I was an up and comer no way I would go to Buffalo. If ownership changes when Ralph passes good chance the whole FO and staff is gone.

  9. And the Browns made the right move firing Belichik.

Oh and Of course The Giants should have fired Coughlin instead of keeping him and that would have been the right move according to some of you guys.

The only problem with your logic is of course, the Giants went on to win 2 supper bowls by being patient.

The problem is continuing to hire mediocre at best coaches and expecting for above average results. It sure looks like Marrone is in the long list of terrible hires by the Bills. Though I don't blame others for not wanting the job with the current ownership situation. If the team goes 6-10 or worse next year there is no way he comes back for a third season as the fans will be calling for blood and deservedly so.

  10. Lynch mobs rarely think much before taking action. Believe me, I understand.

14 years of not making the playoffs has been a blast. I fully think we should keep staying the course, theres always next year. Marrone was a terrible hire to begin with and I'm sure as the losses start piling up again next season people will start to throw out names to replace him. Not sure why anyone would want this job though as its pretty clear there are still a bunch of clowns running the show.

  11. After 14 years of not making the playoffs and 6 straight years of finishing last in the AFC East I think us fans have the right to blast any and all moves by the coaching staff and FO. Everything Marrone says going forward at least for me is going to be hard to believe after all the accountability he preached.

  12. Coaches don't tackle. Players do.

You pretty much always have a response for everything huh. Well regardless our special teams was a joke and this guy is a clown who was fired from Detroit for being awful. Glad hes Marrone's buddy though. We will be doing another coaching search next year at this time I fully expect.

  13. I was at #2 as it was a Christmas gift. We had tickets then for #1 but my parents decided that one frigid game was going to be more than enough so we stayed home and sold the tickets and watched on tv instead. I had a blast at the Jets game though with every inch of skin covered. Was so cold our soda froze solid in the vehicle while we were parked for the game.

  14. This is the second rebuild in 4 seasons, the third is 8 seasons, and the fourth in 13. I think the Bills lead the league in attempted rebuilds, and they can't even blame Al Davis.

Rebuilding, with the right management and personnel decisions, can happen quickly. It's not a 3-4 year process anymore.

I completely agree with this, teams that were bad last year have hired new coaches and are challenging for division titles/playoff spots while we are now at the end of 14 straight years without the playoffs and what more than likely will be the 6th year in a row finishing last in the AFC

East. Its unprecedented how bad we have become but when you have clowns running the organization and continuing to hire mediocre at best coaches I guess we should just expect that.

  15. This week really tells us all we need to know about Marrone as coach. If the team comes out and lays an egg again then he absolutely should be fired. Good luck to Russ selling the fans anything to be excited about next year. Would be nice to see them come out and play well the last 3 weeks winning all 3 to end the year well. At this point with them simplifying things for EJ, that sure doesn't bode well or my confidence in him. With that said I fully expect us to come out and lose another terrible game this Sunday. I think I'll skip the depression to ensue watching since I was in Tampa this past Sunday for that debacle.

  16. 1. EJ is only in his second year, QB X didnt play well in his second year either.

    2. Marrone is only in year 2 you cant expect much he's still learning.

    3. Hackett is only in year 2 you cant expect much he's still learning the NFL game.

    4. We lost Byrd it will take X number of years for his replacement to play well.

    5. Player X and Y were hurt if not for those injuries we would of made the playoffs

    6. If you change a play in this game and that game and this game we would of been 9-7

    7. The refs screwed in this game and that game.

    8. Rookie A and B are starting and it will take them time to learn.

    9. TJ Graham is only in year 3, Brandon Lloyd and whoever didnt have a good year until,,,,,,,

    10. They lost a heartbreaker in week X of course there would be a let down in the next few games

I post this because Im sick of the excuses. They're getting old, lamer and more desperate by the year. The team motto for 2014 should be no excuses, none. Young coaches--- screw it,, work harder in the off season and step it up, same for anybody filling in for injuries, free agents lost or any rookies starting. Tough call or loss, get over it.

Screw development with no results in the W-L column, go out get some respect from the other teams in the league.

Very well thought out. I agree with everything you said and I have no doubt next season when the team is 3-8 in November we will get to hear many of these. It's funny that people continue to buy in now with 14 terrible years in a row. I wonder if anyone realizes this will be the 6th year in a row we finish last in the AFC East.
