  1. I would take Tebow in the 5th Round. He could play the Wildcat and help out on Special Teams. I don't think he is a first round pick, plus the coldest game he has probably played in is a rainy game in Tennessee. I like Clausen at the top, but could be convinced of others. I could see the Redskins taking Tebow and never getting anywhere.
  2. Good point, but the entire draft is a crapshoot so we might as well take a shot at a top flight QB since we need one. We tried building the line last time with a top 5 pick, we went Offensive Line. That pick didn't dress for the Redskins today after taking a few years off to hit 400 lbs.
  3. More recently the Chargers drafted a QB at the top and seems like Rivers has worked out for them so far.
  4. I'm pretty sure Bill Polian started the rebuilding process with Peyton Manning.
  5. This would be a good year to draft near the top anyway. I always thought if we were in the top 8 picks, we would trade it since the salaries are too high. However, we need a franchise QB who can play in cold weather (i.e. Jimmy Clausen). The money for 1st Round QBs is crazy anyway so we might as well draft one at the top. 5 years and $65 million should do the trick. Maybin is getting $25 million over 5 years to jump on the pile before the whistle blows. We could also draft Bill Stull in the later rounds.
  6. This could be the last time we are favored to win a game: rest of 2009 - win-able games are on the road where we will probably be underdogs. 2010 - hard to compete in a non-cap year 2011 - lockout 2012 - end of stadium lease and deal with Toronto Lets savor the fact we are going into a weekend and favored to win. Then again, maybe we get lucky and are favored to win the Jim Sorgi bowl in Week 17.
  7. Maybin's contract is 5 years, $25 million, $15 million guaranteed (source: http://www.ultimatemockdraft.com/). Sounds like he got what he wanted. $3 million more in guaranteed money than Orakpo who was 2 picks behind. $2.5 more in guaranteed money than McKelvin who was drafted in the same spot last year. I'm hoping Maybin makes it all worth it against Tom Brady on September 14th.
  8. According to TO on Twitter: terrellowens 12:01 am 8/21/09: Congrats 2 our #1 draft pick Aaron Maybin!! He will b officially joining the Buffalo Bills 2morr!!
  9. I don't claim to have any inside info on the Maybin negotiations, but an analysis of the numbers can help explain the impasse. A lot of the blame for Maybin's contract holdout has gone to Michael Crabtree's holdout one slot ahead. However, the real sticking point is Knowshon Moreno's 5 yr $23 million ($13 million guaranteed) one spot behind. Maybin's agent wants more than Moreno. Based on Raji's numbers, I'm guessing Maybin's agent Joel Segal is asking for 5 years, $25 million, $15 million guaranteed. Consider picks 9-13 9 Raji 5yr $28.5 million, $18 million guaranteed 10 Crabtree - not signed 11 Maybin - not signed 12 Moreno - 5 yr $23 million, $13 million guaranteed 13 Orakpo - 5 yr $20 million, $12 million guaranteed source: http://www.ultimatemockdraft.com/ The Bills are using last year's numbers to inform their negotiations. 9 Rivers 6years, $23 million, $15.6 guaranteed 10 Mayo 5 years, $19 million, $13.8 million guaranteed 11 McKelvin 5 years, 19.4 million, $12.6 million guaranteed 12 Clady 5 years, $17.5 million, $11.5 million guaranteed 13 Stewart 5 years, $20 million, $10.8 million guaranteed source: http://www.ultimatemockdraft.com/ The Bills are pointing to RB Jonathan Stewart getting a larger contract 2 picks behind McKelvin. The Bills are probably offering 5 years, $22 million, $13 million guaranteed. The Bills can't justify paying 25% more on this year's pick as they did on last year's pick in the same spot. I'm guessing a deal gets done at $23.5 million, $13.5 million guaranteed.
  10. Good call on Ray Lewis, I need to update. I'm not sure Butkus had the speed for today's game. QBs are the foundation of any franchise, but have Lambert, Greene and Munoz on the list already. Also had Ronnie Lott at Safety. Ogden is another Tackle on the list. Matthews could play center. I was thinking about Webster too. Brady is behind Elway on the list.
  11. Thanks for the feedback. For the all-time mock draft, I was trying to take the perspective of drafting today. For example, I'm guessing Don Hutson would not go in the first round of a draft today, but its all conjecture. Joe Greene might not be big enough to play DT today and I think Bruce would be a hotter commodity as the all time sack leader. Not to defend Steve Young too much, but he is 2nd all time in passer rating. He is only behind Kurt Warner, so if Warner has a bad season, Young would lead again. For the Fantasy rankings, MJD might be too low on the list, but wanted to see him in pre-season. He has trouble staying healthy. Plus I see the Jags struggling again this season without a proven passing game.
  12. In the had some extra time on my hands category, I attempted an all time HOF Mock Draft. I had Bruce going 13th and Kelly going 30th. Have TO going 26th (a lock for the HOF I would think). Syracuse's Jim Brown going first. Full list is here: http://ultimatemockdraft.com/
  13. Is Maybin getting enough "would be sacks" in OTAs? Not sure how you can evaluate OL and DL without physical contact, but I'm just a guy who has never played a down of organized football. I'm just glad there aren't any major injuries (knocking on Wood - no pun intendend).
  14. Might be a dumb question, but does the Bills roster always have to be at 80 or below in the off-season? By my count, the Bills have 79 signed players. 79 does not include the drafted players who have yet to be signed. If they can't exceed 80, the Bills can only sign 1 tryout player without cutting someone. They will also have to continue to cut as they sign their draft picks in July. Let me know if I'm thinking about this wrong. Thanks.
