Other quick notes:
*I FEAR McKelvin whenever he's on the field. His coverage skills are questionable and his KR/PR hands are god awful.
*Donald Jone's hands are also terrible. I counted two interceptions when the ball bounced off his hands. Was there more?
*Roosevelt should see an increased role in 4/5 wide sets. I love this kid.

DraftTek has redone its Mock Draft based on this signing.
I've switched Positional Needs so that OLB=P2, CB=P2, and LT=P2. This picks the BPA among those positions at RD1#10.
Would love to get your feedback.
I would say OLB=P1, and CB and LT=2
If we don't re-sign Bell or at least comparable free agent LT, then OLB and LT = P1, then CB=2.

Fitzpatrick doesn't deserve to even be mentioned with the other listed QBs.
He's not awful, but he isn't great either.
I would say, serviceable or marginal. Mediocre, like this franchise.
And you totally missed the point. Fitz isn't a QB who should be throwing the ball so much like the elite QBs do in this league.
I did not say he is a great QB. I only gave you the stats in order of pass attempts this year. This is because you compared him to Jim Kelly.
Only saying the stats you gave is completely misleading. So what if he had 20% more attempts than Kelly. My stats demonstrates that this is normal these days. If Kelly played today, he may have 30% more pass attempts.

This year Ryan Fitzpatrick attempted 569 passes which is approximately 20% more passes than Jim Kelly threw in his highest pass attempt season.
Rules have changed to help the passing game. Perhaps we should look at rest of the numbers instead of just the one to prove your point.

Why, so he can be injured again next year? Couldn't someone find a tackle who can play an entire season? Both Bell and Hairston are proving less than durable. Just once I'd like to see this team find someone who can play 16 games.
The, we should be getting rid of Woods too. He has been injury prone. We could start all over with inexperienced O-linemen and scrubs from other teams. Bell's injuries have not been the same ones. He just had some bad luck. Much of our team had bad luck. Maybe next year, we'll get some good luck in the injury department.

Take a look at the QBs on just about ALL the teams that have made the playoffs the last few years
This team has made the playoffs ONCE since JIM KELLY retired - ONCE
This team NEEDS a franchise QB more than any other team in the league and until they address it, they will continue to miss the playoffs year after year after year.
I don't care if this team misses the playoffs the next 2 years in a row as long as you can see they are building something. Get a QB any way possible and stockpile the lines.
Enough is enough already with this clueless organization.
It does not matter if we had Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady. They have couple of bad games and some people on this board would be calling for their replacement.

Easley was timed doing the 40 yard dash in 4.46 sec. I think he is 6' 2". I don't know what is weight is recently, but might be about 220.
He looked really good in pre-season.
Here is some comparative analysis on him leading up to his draft.

I posted the same topic on here a couple weeks ago. Got blasted by some who act like he`s the next Ray Lewis. He`s a rookie. So what, he doesn`t shed blocks or read plays very good. Coverage skills are also poor. Not fast enough.Starts over guys like Andre Davis and Morrison ,who I know are better than this rook. Bud and Chans pick.I think the run Defense up the gut is alot worse than when Davis was playing. If he`s not ready,don`t play him. He will get his chance in practice to show his worth, or injury. Best player should be on the field,not potential. But thats the Bills ,thats why we are what we are.Da Bills.
Davis got the start over Morrison, to start the season. Davis lost his starting position to Sheppard, because Sheppard has more speed. Davis was chasing the play 10 yards down the field because he is too slow. Sheppard looked better than Davis. I still think he is the 2nd best ILB on this team, and he is a rookie. Since he is a rookie, he is going to struggle. The most important period for young players is training camp after their rookie year. they have their biggest jump in knowledge and skill.
Let's wait till at least next year before we drive him out like Poz and Fletcher.
and if Antonio Gates is so easy to cover, why is Gates a pro bowler?
Though, I'd like him to stop falling for misdirection runs.

If we had Williams playing now, he would give qb's no place to step forward to avoid the outside pass-rusher, our pass rush would be more effective. We have Moats to run around the LT and pressure the qb from the outside. Without both an inside and an outside pass rush, any qb could step away from the pressure.
By the way, Moats needs to learn to do a spin move, instead of just going as fast as he can around the outside of the LT. He seems to only have 2 moves, that and bull rush.
Kelsay is our next best pass-rusher, but he is only pedestrian. WE DON'T HAVE ANY PASS RUSHERS ON THIS ROSTER.
The Redskins game was because of the injuries to their O-line, and we played them at the perfect time.
Need a pass-rushing OLB next year and healthy Williams.

My thought is to resign most of our own players, ... except for Leodis McKelvin and Terrance McGee.
Now, Priority #1. we need to bring in a pass rusher.
Since they play 3-4 defense, their best pass rusher should be an outside linebacker. So, draft the best pass-rushing OLB available.
Priority #2. Cornerbacks. We need replacement for McKelvin and McGee. With Drayton and Williams as starters, bring in couple more for depth.
Priority #3. depth at WR. They need speed at receiver. Perhaps Marcus Easley will finally be healthy and be a starter.
depth at OG/C. We have 3 good tackles. Not typical to lose your top 2 LT's.
Priority #4. depth at RB. Need someone to give Fred Jackson some rest.
backup QB. I'm not a fan of Thigpen.

Not like that. He's grabbing guys all over the place, looking at the officals KNOWING they are going to make a call against, him, and then does it again? And again?
Bills will be drafting DB high again next year.
We did draft a cornerback high. Aaron William in the 2nd round. He was playing well until he got hurt. We'll have him back next year.
I think next draft should focus on getting depth on O-line, WR, TE, QB, and LB.

Zach Miller (OAK) – Miller is without a doubt the Raiders top offensive target. He’s a reliable target who has produced at a high level without a legitimate starting quarterback. Unlike many of the hybrid tight ends around the league, Miller is also a good blocker with a very bright future ahead of himself.
Marcedes Lewis (JAC) – The 6’6, 275-pound Lewis had a breakout season as a reliable red zone target. His size creates mismatches down the seam and opens up room underneath. He isn’t an elite tight end, but is the most consistent receiver on the Jaguars. Given the struggles the Jaguars have had in finding dependable offensive weapons since the Jimmy Smith/Keenan McCardell days, they’ll look to re-sign Lewis. Like Miller, Lewis is also a well-rounded tight end.
Owen Daniels, HOU – Daniels was on a sizzling pace in 2009 before injury cut short a spectacular season. Over the last quarter of 2010, he showed some of the same promise that he could soon be an elite pass-catching TE once again. Still, the injury last year cost Daniels a lot of coin.
Kevin Boss, NYG – Boss is a well-rounded tight end in line with the Giants emphasis on the running game. Though opportunities have been somewhat limited by the success of the Giants receiving corps, Boss has been reliable and effective when thrown to. He’s the perfect tight end for the Giants offense and an integral cog in both the rushing and passing attack.

Unless they league and the player's union agree on collective bargaining agreement before the draft, they will have to go into the draft without being able to what holes they have to fill.
That being said, I'd love to see the Bills get one of the better right tackles and blocking/catching tight ends in free agency.

There is no QB in this draft worth picking #3 overall. If Luck came out this year, most would definitely think he should be drafted. The Bills GM has already said they are going to draft the best player available, according to their board. I would hope even the Bills don't have any available QB's rated that high.
Like quality LT, good NT generally do not make it to free agency. It is one of those very difficult positions to fill.
Go defensive front 7 early in the draft. We can get a QB to groom later in the draft, or even next year.

My #1 was LB - We don't have 3-4 linebackers! most are carry-overs from when we played the 4-3. We have Moats and Posluszny. Poz is better suited to be the weak inside linebacker spot. Moats can rush the passer but haven't shown he can cover or stop the run. Batten and Merriman are question marks because they are coming off injuries.
#2 was DL - Need another DE to play opposite Dwan Edwards, and for rotation. Also need a true NT for rotation.
round 1 - Daquan Bowers DE
round 2 - Martez Wilson ILB
round 3 - Jerrel Powe NT

If we did draft McKinney instead of Mike Williams, we would be pissed that we spent a #4 pick on a player that played right tackle for years, before finally being able to switch over to the left. I don't recall him being voted into the pro-bowl the first few years.
We could have drafted Jerry Rice, Marc Bulger, Devin Hester, Jared Allen, Brian Westbrook, Kyle William (wait, we did draft Kyle Williams). So could have 31 other teams.

My top choice at #3 is DE Bowers. He seems the most likely to not be a bust. He can handle the the end position to the left of Kyle Williams for a decade. Fairly could become a better player, but there is concerns about his work ethics. Slight chance he can become another Mike Williams for us.

If you cut the worst players then you should get that effect. The problem the Bills have is part 2 - getting better players than the ones we curently have as starters.
Example: Today we have major needs at DE (replace Stroud or Kelsey), OLB (replace Kelsey or whoever), ILB (replace Adeleye or Davis), ROT (replace Wrotto or whoever), and TE (replace Stupar or whoever). That does not even address QB or LOT which are also questionable.
It is unrealistic to assume that we can upgrade all of these positions with one draft and get 5 rookies to come in and start and provide instant help. If we lose Whitner, Poz and Florence we will only add to the number of positions we have to backfill, let alone upgrade.
To see a major improvement in one year we need ALL of the following to happen:
1 - Significant free agent signings were we bring in a few solid starters (helps us to draft BPA and not for need)
2 - A monster draft were we get a few more starters and add to the depth with good prospects
3 - Last years rookie prospects to improve and beat out the people in front of them.
Hearing that Buddy plans on napping through free agency, it is no wonder why he is saying it will take years to turn this arounnd.
You make too much sense! There will be plenty that disagree with you.
I for one, completely agree on this.
LOT maybe an unknown, but not important to address this offseason. Bell will get his first full offseason to workout, get stronger, and work on his technique. Hopefully, he will get better on run blocking, and inside pass-rush moves.

If I had to rank our team's needs for next year, I would not put QB, WR, or LT at the top of the list. I wouldn't take any position off the list, but kicker and punter.
1. pass-rusher
2. outside linebacker that can cover tight-ends and stuff the run
3. DE that can stop the run, and can help out in the pass rush
4. TE that can block AND is a pass receiving threat
5. RT
...
If Luck is available, definitely take him, but a QB is no longer a top need. Fitz is not an excellent QB, but the Ravens have won a superbowl without one. You just need an excellent running game, solid defense, and a good special teams.

My picks would be DE and OLB with the 1st 2 picks. (Assuming Luck is already gone)

TE and best defensive front 7 player available in the 4th.

I missed the 1st quarter of the Bills-Indy game. I looked for t.e. Shawn Nelson, and tried to look up any stats for him from last night, but cannot find anything. Did he not play? Or was his time on the field so uneventful?
He is expected to have a big year, and I am hoping he does. But, if he is not catching passes and not getting playing time in pre-season, I am concerned about what type of year he will have.
Can anyone shed some light on Shawn Nelson?
Why not Riley Rieff at Left Tackle

Before the combines, Riley Rieff and Johnathon Martin were ranked 2 &3, and considered possible top 15 picks.
Since, Riley Rieff is being talked about as a Right tackle because his arm length is 33 1/4. That is considered by so-called experts as being too short to play left takle.
If you look check the arm length of starting LT's, you will see some as short, if not shorter that Rieff's arms.
Interesting take on arm length
Jason Peters, a pro-bowler, has 33 1/8" arms.
I don't know if he'll be even a decent left takle, or a right tackle. I hope the Bills do not rule him because of his arm length.
