There are going to be some growing pains with the new coaching staff. The quality of the roster is lacking in places. Even a good draft wouldn't solve the many deficiencies. The Bills are weighed down by a brutal schedule this year as well. This is a team that is one, probably two years away from being a real contender for a playoff spot. This is a 7-9 team as composed at best.

As impressed as I am with Corey Davis, I too would embrace drafting O.J. Howard at 10. The guy is a huge disrupting force on the OL and has great hands, speed, and size that will bring dimension to the Bills' upcoming West-Coast offense that would otherwise be missing. We've been frustrated trying to limit Gronk's YAC for years. What's good for the goose...
Taking a rookie QB will be far more attractive next year when the talent pool will be much deeper. This year, cornerbacks and safeties are dime a dozen.

Doug Whaley in charge of the 53 gives me the chills. I thought McDermott acquitted himself well. If this team needs one cultural change, it's to make players earn their position, not just in the pre-season, but from regular season game to game regardless of their pay grade. Can't make tackles, can't block? Have a seat. Can't abide the system or take the time to learn its complexities? Thanks for being on the team, good luck in the future somewhere else.
Clearly, some of the players on the team, including Tyrod, recognized that not everyone on the field was all in this ssason. These players won in college but seem entirely too comfortable with losing. It's great to "put people in a position to win," which is a great cliche for any coach. But, if the players don't execute, don't tackle, don't block, don't make the progressions, any coach is hamstrung. This isn't a defense of ClusterRex. Just sayin' we need to dispose of players who can't or won't do their job. If you're looking to clear up cap space to pay our free agents like Zach Brown or Alexander, time to take out the garbage.

Dan was a nice guy like so many of our coaches and players that haven't worked out. Chan was really nice and Norwood was a great guy. Just time to move on.

My read is they may want to keep Tyrod but with the Bills out of playoff contention, they want to protect him from a catastrophic injury. Instead, they may want to evaluate whether there is any use in keeping EJ around. Whether the team wants to draft another or developmental quarterback in the draft or free agency.

Look, Gilmore sucks. Whaley has brought in a ton of great players cut by other teams to paper clip together a really nice 2nd team replacing a much better 1st team. Eventually, the tap runs dry trying to piece together a 3rd team. We're cut to shreds by injuries. There's only so much he can do.

Quest for 10-6
4-2 is a start that I would never have predicted before this season. Still, if we assume we'll get two Ls from New England (still waiting for proof we can win even one out of two vs. their starters) and another from the Chiefs - who we're always competitive with until we #@?! it up in the 4th quarter - we need to go 6-1 down the rest of the schedule including the Raiders to get to 10-6 and a likely wild-card spot. We have to beat the teams we should beat or we'll be looking at mock drafts in December or January. Tyrod and the offensive line have to begin playing consistently week-to-week. It was a great day for McCoy, but if the OL gets dominated and McCoy is back to less than 2.5ypc, Tyrod needs to be able to step up and fill the stat sheet, something he's demonstrated over and over he's not capable of doing. Injuries to our secondary hasn't been helpful either. A trade for a #3 CB wouldn't hurt us.
