  1. I remember this well. I was getting progressively angrier as the game went on. At half-time, I turned off the TV and turned on Joe Montana Sports Talk Football for my Genesis (it's been that long). I turn the game back on, and before I knew it, I was standing and jumping on my couch. A few days later, my math teacher, who knew I was a huge Bills fan (I lived in southern NY, Jets/Giants country) brought me a "You Got the Reich One Baby" shirt with the score on the back. I still had that shire until not long ago. Man, we need this team to get good again.

  2. Glad that there are more of you out there than anticipated. I was just thinking exactly the same thing today. Passively watched the game, started doing chores at points, and realized that the game was over. I guess this is the last emotion you can feel for this franchise. The one thing I will say is that it is a shame that Jackson and Spiller are going to waste good years on average to below average teams.

  3. I grew up in Jets/Giants country, but my uncle and cousins were die-hard Bills fans. My first game was the first game of the Levy era, and I never looked back. I live in Florida now, and by all means should have jumped ship years ago, but I root for the ONLY team from my home state, and I care about the great people of W. NY. Sadly, those cousins? One follows NASCAR and soccer, as well as the Sabres and the other claims to have not watched an NFL game in a decade and follows the Premier League and the Sabres. I often wish I had their willpower.

  4. I hate to say it, but it is going to be a long process to revive this franchise. The demise of this team has been ten years in the making, and it will not come back together over one season.

First, get a coach with a track record of success or a disciple of those coaches. Right now, we have on the market: Shanahan, Gruden, Cowher, Holmgren, Billick to start. Then, we go to the UFL geeks: Fassel, Haslett, and the other guys. Or, we get the disciples of Belicheck, Parcells, or Holmgren.

Of course, Schottenheimer would be great, in the short term (we should have gotten him over this off-season)

Then, we go to GM, I say if you pay Cowher, Holmgren, or Shannahan, you give them the GM job too. I know it gets taxing, but these guys have done it with success.

From there, we assess the entire scouting process, which has been an abject failure.

Move to personnel, Keepers: Lynch, F. Jackson, Evans, the two rookie guards, Witner, Scott, Stroud (who is getting up there in years) Poz, McGee, Morman, Lindell and potentially Maybin. That leaves a ton of needs.

First year: Get a QB of the future, this draft is loaded with them. McCoy, Bradford, Tebow (who is iffy as a QB, but a proven winner and can handle pressure), and a few others floating around. In the same draft, build on the line. A tackle would be a plus. Additionally, sure up the secondary.

This might net us 0 to 2 wins extra.

Next year, build up your LBs, and D-Line, adding depth in other areas, at this point another WR and go-to TE need to be added. This could come in free-agency or draft.

Year 3, the fruits of the plan begin to pay off, as we now have solid starters in place, and hopefully, the building of depth begins to happen. Potentially a wild-card contender.

Year 4, if done properly, you have propped the team into the upper echelons of the the league.

I know this takes time, and this is a perfect world scenario, but the reality is, this team is beyond rock bottom, and the team needs more than a few band aids and gimmick signings to fix it. This has to be a serious rebuilding effort. One that is honest with the fans.

  5. I do not hate them so much as I hate what has become of them. I am the only Bills fan in my circle of friends, and I feel like I have to answer for a DECADE of this stuff. I cannot answer for it anymore. I say the owner is cheap, Pittsburgh fans do not get it. I say the coaching is horrible, Buc fans say well at least he isn't Gruden...I WOULD LOVE GRUDEN!!! No one understands how much we love this franchise, but I honestly think this franchise does not love us back, and that is a sad fact to face at this juncture. It is no wonder my W.NY family is abandoning this team for strictly Sabres games and gasp...SOCCER!

  6. I agree to an extent, but the past 2 games, the offense was solid. They had a lousy game, Edwards never had rhythm, and it seemed that AVP and Jauron were to afraid to veer from the gameplan. As for talent sucking out: we have not had good QBs since Bledsoe (who was average at best). The lines have been spotty, the defensive unit has a few good players, but never sums up the parts, and TO is past his prime, and we have to all accept that.

  7. 31 years old and have been a fan since 1986, when I had the honor of going to Marv's first game. I was hooked. I sat through four SB losses (one to the Giants hurt since I lived downstate). I watched the MCM and the age of Rob Johnson. This year was awful though. I think watching the last few games, I had a feeling of a new coach and regime coming in could make a difference, but when Mr. Burns...er....Ralph Wilson decided to keep his Smithers, I have no hope for this team. There are bright spots...Marshawn and Freddy. Also, who can have hope when Robert Royal is dropping passes.

  8. All of you people and your "gotta hang in" attitudes are almost as bad as Ralph himself. The way this team has been run for nearly a decade is a disgrace.

Will you BILLieve when Robert Royal drops yet another pass?

Will you BILLieve when the Bills have 2 minutes to go in a half and they lolligag down the field, without using timeouts?

Will you BILLieve when you are ahead on the road with a lead, and pass deep in the zone, only to get sacked?

Will you BILLieve when the Patriots beat the Bills a combined 80-14 in two games next year?

Will you BILLieve when Marshawn and Freddie rush for a nearly combined 180 yards, only to have nothing to show for it from the QB and the receivers?

Will you BILLieve when the Dolphins make it to a Superbowl in the next five years?

Will you BILLieve when the Bills take another CB from no-man's land?

Will you BILLieve when you see Kelsay, Denney, and Schobel get a combined 7 sacks in a season?

Will You BILLieve when you see another dead crowd in Toronto?

Will you BILLieve when Ralph finally sells the team? I just might then.

And yes, I still pull for the team to do well, not for Ralph, not for DJ, but for all of us who sat through 4 losses in the Superbowl, those of us who watched Rob Johnson sink the team, those of us who watched, with jaws dropped as the Bills lost to the Titans in 2000. Or, that Dallas loss on Monday night, or the collapse this year. Or Erik Flowers for that matter. But something has got to give.
