Dude....PLEASE tell me this is a joke...I'm too lazy to check buffalobills.com, and I have seen fake websites before...this CANNOT be real. If it is, heaven help us.

JP was/is a good guy, just not good at what he's being paid to do. QB! While some are arguing why did we keep him this year as a #2 , he could have demanded a release and/or trade, but again he was willing to play out his contract.
In fairness, he did play well enough last year to justify bringing him back as the #2. Many here argued he should have been starting when TE struggled. But what he has done this year on the field, I don't think even the biggest JP critique(sp) could have imagined him playing as bad as he has. I wouldn't surprise me to see him out of football next year. Though there was room for Rob Johnson, so anything is possible
Well, I heard yesterday that the Arena Football League cancelled their season for a year, so that's not an option...
-
No problem, I highly doubt that he was referring to what JP actually did on the field.
Despite JP's horrible play, he has been a model citizen in buffalo and very interactive within the community-- that's what Evans was getting at with his quote.
So many plays from JP keep playing over and over in my head like a record skipping that it's sometimes forgotten to widen perspective on things. Therefore....I think we're all in agreement that JP hasn't given this town 'so much' on the FIELD, except maybe migraines and (fan) hopelessness.
-
He's volunteered in tons of community development programs and worked with various charities; more than most players do.
Do you follow this team at all?
I guess I didn't look at it that way. Thanks for clarifying for me.

Quote from Lee Evans -
"I definitely feel bad for him. I just hope that where ever he goes, things work out a little differently," Evans said. "It's a bad way to leave a town that you've done so much for."
What, exactly, has he done that's been "so" positive for this town?

Do you watch TV?
Hear anything about the Auto Industry and Jobs in WNY?
Think Ralph is watching?
Do you think the Auto industry employees and venders buy tickets?
400,000 total population today .............with 150,000 Auto related jobs in WNY at stake.
Not a good time to ask Ralph to sell.
This team will go to the highest bidder and I don't care what Jim Kelly says.
I do think he has good intentions though!
I have warned you guys before, enjoy the Bills while you still have a team....
Yep.....

When they start winning again we will all return as howling idiots once again. Problem is that some of us may be dead before this happens
"howling idiots" - that's awesome and you are right-on...we'll be back. we ALWAYS come back. sh@t it's tuesday night and already back. what the hell else is there to do on a cold sunday afternoon?
-
I told everyone in my family not to buy me Bills stuff until they make the playoffs. It's my way of protesting them. Am I the only one here who's not buying their merchandise anymore?
I bought a Poz jersey during halftime at the Jets game for $80 with a HEAVY buzz on. It hasn't see the light of day since.
-
Good for him. The game is irrelevant and in a few days no one will care.
-
Buffalo has a record of 12 and 64 since 2000 with teams that have a record of .500 or better at gametime. That, and let alone both teams are in must-win scenarios, we are going 6-10.
-
Are you smoking something? Ralph would never pay McNabb, and he doesn't bring much leadership with him, more moping and stuping comments to the press. We have probably the 2 most exciting return men in the AFC with Parrish and McKelvin, and want to trade Parrish? Why not get rid of all 4 or 5 players that actually had highlight real plays this year-if there were that many.
I'm with you. McNabb is a step up in talent but isn't the answer, and Parrish/McKelvin are game-changers and impact niche players with promise.
As for a Vet - I'm not talking about a Kelly Holcomb-like Vet either. So, do we draft a QB and develop or shoot for a Grade A or B+ QB to compete? We need one or the other...
-
While id love to see McNabb in Buffalo, I still think with the right staff and some other players around Edwards he will be a good QB in this league.
I'm with you on Edwards, but you know that he's going down at some point with an injury next year. Then what? We're screwed unless you get someone with some experience in there....or...
One angle (and not a good one) - Anderson had last year's run to put him on the map and Quinn was the rookie in waiting. Do you think the Bills will consider a 1st or 2nd round draft pick over a veteran to back up Edwards? Edwards was no where near Anderson of last year, but let's remember that in week 6 Edwards was one of the better league QBs, and in week 4 he was a legit MVP candidate.
-
The only thing Trent has proven so far is he does not have the ability to stay healthy. The Bills need to at least bring in a Vet that can challenge Trent for the starters job during preseason.
Admittedly I have zero idea who may be available or under serious consideration.
-
The guy we shoulda signed is the guy most of the TSW 'experts' said was washed up and couldn't wait to play him twice this season - Brett Favre. Now that we're mathematically eliminated from the post-season, I do hope we at least get a chance to see Hamdan in a game situation against Denver or NE*.
Phuk the Bills.
It would have been fun. I remember when the fanfare was loud and exciting when Bledsoe came to Orchard Park. It would have been all that and so much more with Favre. That said, that was last year and we can't go there. If anything it will be interesting...I have a feeling they may make it somewhat entertaining, simply because the fan base is at a really low point. Something to drive excitement and interest would at least bring us back from 'where are they now' and irrelevant category that we're in.
-
The Bills clearly need to add a starter caliber QB to the roster in the offseason.
Losman is gone, there is no way that his re-signing should be even considered. It's both in his and the team's best interests.
Hamdan is not a serious solution, as has been demonstrated by the coaching staff's unwillingness to play him.
And Edwards' play has been worrisome, to say the least. It's not clear that he'll recover his form, and it's not clear that even if he is able to turn it around, that he's the long-term answer.
The Bills should go all out and shoot for maximum potential because the QB position is still clearly open for improvement. And hopefully they'll make an investment in protecting whoever the QB in 2009 is as well. This team has a serviceable, though young defense. So go all out in an attempt to re-build the offense.
I like Trent and I think he has the head and heart to play the position. He also is capable of being a leader...but you're right that he's worrisome - injury-prone and pretty vulnerable in the cold weather. JP isn't even open for discussion and I don't think that is even a discussion, let alone an option. I also am with you on the defense. With Schobel back next year the D-line is different, and our LB core will be better without Ellison who is clearly in way over his head. Invest in the O and get some depth and confidence back.
-
Its unfortunate, but if they're going to go with Edwards as the starter they have the disadvantage of being required to carry a third QB, in addition to a starting calibre second string QB. Not every team carries three QBs, but with Edwards' injury history he's averaging missing a little over 25% of the season. That means for a little over four games out of every season their third string QB will be 2nd on the depth chart. IMO, they need to play Hamden from here on out to see if he can continue to fill in as the 3rd string QB, but still be capable of being the second string QB for all of the games Edwards will miss due to injury.
Right-on...do you think they look for a veteran with a name or a journeyman like a Frerotte, or draft?
-
Donovan Mcnabb...to bring some leadership on the field and in the clubhouse. To teach Trent how the position is played on and off the field...more than the coaching staff is willing to do. A win now and hopefully a win in the future!
I like it...hell I like anything at this point, admittedly. Is he a FA at year-end? I think Charlie Batch is coming back to Pittsburgh from IR next year and Leftwich will be trying to get on as a competitive #1 somewhere. I don't think he's great but he's decent and can play in the cold.
-
I'm not sure if anyone has posted a thread on this but I'm curious to see what the Bills will do next year regarding the QB depth chart. Do they pick up a free agent to back up Edwards (or put someone....like a Leftwich....into competition for the starting job), or do they look to the draft? Either way, they are so very thin there (obviously).

My answers are:
1) Ten years - we'll make it the year after next. (1999-2009)
2) Fifteen years. (1996-2011)
3) Sixteen years. (1995-2011)
Sixteen years, should it happen, would represent almost 40% of the time the Bills have been in the NFL. Makes you wonder...
The Patriots will be back as good as new next year with Brady and company returning. The Dolphins under Parcells' management are already better than Buffalo, and the Jets are committed to winning with a front office that wants to win ASAP. So, Given that tough road I can foresee a lot more divisional records of 1-5 or 0-6, and that could translate to a LLLLOOOONNNNGGGG drought. It hurts but I think it's pretty accurate. Your numbers look pretty decent though...I just would sadly stretch them a bit further.

A small group of reporters asked 90-year-old Bills owner Ralph Wilson how Sunday's game might affect Jauron's job.
"I think I should get back into the insurance business," Wilson replied
At least he didn't say 'has anyone seen my diaper?' That just as easily could have come out of his mouth.
-
Tim Graham drew a nice parallel to that in his blog entry:
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Thirty years ago on this site, New York Giants coach John McVay signed off on a play that ended his coaching career.
Buffalo Bills coach Dick Jauron might suffer a similar fate with an excruciating 31-27 loss Sunday at the Meadowlands on a call that had the New York Jets laughing in their locker room.
-snip-
The play was reminiscent of Joe Pisarcik's infamous Nov. 19, 1978 fumble in the waning seconds of what should have been a guaranteed Giants victory in the Meadowlands. Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Herm Edwards scooped the ball and ran it in for a touchdown. McVay finished the season and never coached again.
We can only hope.
This is strong...good coverage.

No bashing here.
Going into the game I had the attitude of "at this point, a loss will help more than hurt." But once they got into it, and started doing well - they sucked me back in. Now I'm pissed for getting my hopes up again, and am really kind of hoping they lose out so their record will be worse than last year and that will hopefully end Jauron's tenure.
Ditto. I'll admit it too.

It was a good post until you brought up suggesting Wilson should just die...what a joke...you put the success of a football team ahead of a human life...one that does a lot for charity and the community. Nice...no wonder other countrys hate our country...look at our priorities...a silly game is more important to you than the life of another human...
This kind of crap makes me sick and embarrassed to be a Bills fan...like everyone else like you who has made such a disgusting request, I hope you are banned...
Did anyone notice if there is a buyout in the contract terms or is that information not released? I didn't look closely and haven't heard.
