  1. The Bills have drafted QBs in the past decade - including one in the first round that the pundits gushed over. Where is he now? The UFL?

For all we know, Week One will turn out to be as meaningless to this season as the Week Three win over the Pats turned out to be last season - a fluke. I might be delusional, but I still think 10-6 is within reach.

  2. I know Stevie has had three (at least) high profile drops the past two years, but according to the Washington Post, he's not in the top 32 of the league for drops this season. I guess it's not that surprising given how many short and intermediate routes he runs.

Then again, he has been targeted 127 times and has 72 catches, so that doesn't seem so good.

  3. Needing a win in week 17 to make the playoffs, Fitz has the ball ripped from his hands and returned for TD and Lindell misses a 29-yard field goal to seal the loss. Sorry, still have flashbacks to that Steelers game.

Brad Smith throws a TD pass, rushes for a TD and catches a TD pass in the same game - twice.

I hope like heck I'm wrong.....

I would only swap the Oakland/NYG results. But 5-11 is where I see them, too. 6-10 very possible with a win over Denver to finish the year 3-2 in the last 5 and a shred of optimism going into 2012.

  5. It seems some fans expected a 180 degree turnaround this soon. I'm in it for the long haul. In fact, I think we're better off than a lot of franchises that are in rebuilding mode. Look at the 49ers - they're a mess. Their same ineffective QB is on his third coaching regime. And they're getting worse.

At least this Bills leadership cleaned (most of the) house from what I think we can all agree was a pile of you know what. Let's not just hang on to guys for posterity's sake.

Still, if by next season they're not an 8-8 team, I think the rebuilding is off track. But my point is that it's too early to judge now.

  6. I'm a little worried about the pressure Lee's departure is going to place on Stevie, Fitz and the young receivers. From that point of view, I don't hate the idea of grabbing TO for one year. I like Nelson, but I just have a hard time believing that Easley and Roscoe can stay healthy and that any of the the other young guys are ready to be No. 2s.

  7.

It really is a bore listening to all of the draft talk.

    1. This is my team.
    2. I want my team to win.
    3. I don't want to hit rock bottom so we can get a higher draft pick.
    4. Only winning can fix this team. Bottom line.

Oh, I totally agree. I wanted them to win like crazy yesterday. I don't want moral victories. And I also don't want to look at next year's draft - that's a long ways away and I'm not convinced our savior is in that draft anyway.

I guess I'm only saying that if we are not going to the playoffs, let's just be fun to watch.

  8. Who knows? Maybe with a full season as a starter, Fitz will show he can be a top-12 QB in this league. Let's just wait and see.

Fitz has a great arm, is gutsy and I really think has a chance of flourishing in a competent offensive system. He's been a back-up, but so was Tom Brady until Bledsoe got his a** lit up. I'm not saying Fitz is Tom Brady (he's much better looking), but he could be Trent Dilfer.

  9. 6.0

pathetic YPA average, but made some nice timing throws. still, anytime Corey McIntyre is that involved in the passing offense, we're in trouble. would have liked to see some deeper throws, besides the two to TO.

TO is a waste. Can't wait to see him gone.

It did seem that Brohm and Lee had some chemistry, at least for two guys who have practiced together 3 times.

  10. I wonder if the fourth Qtr collapses have anything to do with being out of shape? :death::( Dickie coddled the little tykes instead of toughening them up just a little, maybe. :death:<_<

I think this is a really good point. Year after year under DJ, the Bills led the league in players on the IR. And it's clear we wear down in the trenches as the games drag on - both signs that this team has been out of shape.

  11. Was it just me, or was anyone else having some warm and fuzzy flashbacks yesterday to that other QB we used to have who made great runs, dove head first and also played his college ball in Boston? It just reminded me of the energy this team had when Flutie was the helm. It wasn't always pretty, but the dude won. Let's hope Ryan can do the same.

  12. Also, Fitz beat the Jags last season!

    So did Trent.

I hate this move. Fitzpatrick is not at all the long-term answer. It's pretty clear Trent isn't either, but this has the smell of a move being made by a team that thinks it has a shot at the playoffs, which we don't. Are they just trying to please TO? Who cares what that guy thinks, he's gone after 7 more games.
