  1. In a way this is just another blow to an already abysmal offensive line but it's not like Butler could stay healthy anyway. Has the guy played more than 8 or 10 games a year in the last 3? What do people think our options are at that spot. Given the youth movement I think they are looking for a young guy not a grizzled veteran.

Is there anyone already on the roster, perhaps one of our many failed LT attempts, that might actually be competent at RT?

Is there any prospect in the draft that could be had 3rd or 4th round?

Is there a free agent under the age of 27 that fits the mold and would work with the youth movement?

If it were me, I would be looking at drafting my LT in round 1 and moving D.Bell to RT. I think Bell is much more suited to play RT than LT. I just don't think he has the strength or the quickness to match up to the elite ends that will be rushing.

  2. what i really like about this idea is that we are making more holes in team that has too many other important positional needs

Given the OP's scenario, how are we making more holes? We would be trading Evans for Marshall, hole filled, and trading or releasing Schoebel. Trade we get a pick or a player to fill that void, release and it frees up money to sign somebody. I fail to understand how that creates holes.

Evans and Schoebel are both decent players. IMO they can be replaced though. Schoebel is on the downside of his career and besides Evan's one good year, hasn't done much. As much as a QB can make a receiver I think that goes the other way around also.

Also something to consider, why was JP the only one to develop that "chemistry" with LE? Maybe I am overlooking something here, but TE never really clicked good with him or Owens, went to his RB's a lot. Fitzy appeared to gel well with TO. Just kinda makes me wonder. I know you guys are going to say that TE was a check down machine and all, but he had the same offense as Fitz, but still chose to go to his RB. There are a lot of reasons that could be said for TE's timidness of going down field, but if you have that connection with your receivers, then your going to take the chance, something TE never did. Neither did Fitz with LE. Just my thoughts.

  3. Boo hoo.

We did not "tick" anything off of a list. Sounds like you raised your beer a few times already.

I think he was referring to a team that has yet to win the Lombardi. And by saying we "ticked another one of the list" we kind of did. Because it wasn't our team that was in there, playing for the trophy. Round about sort of way.

  4. Exactly, that's the reaction from the majority of southerners, they just don't have the sac to live here. I'll give TO credit for giving it a shot.

If by sac, you mean temps in the single digits, wind chills well below zero, and chains on my tires, then yeah, I guess I don't have the "sac" as you like to call it. I will be on the beach in feb working on my tan while your still shoveling your driveway. So, what is the weather up there like today?

    Buffalo Currently: 27°F Partly Cloudy 28°F | 20°F

    Daytona Currently: 70°F Mostly Cloudy 70°F | 61°F

    Glad I don't have a "sac" LMAO

  5. In a bunch of different threads people are heatedly discussing our first round draft pick, #9 overall, and whether to draft a LT to protect a QB or to draft our "QB of the future". When the point that a QB of the future's growth and development could be ruined because we don't have an offensive line to protect him people almost unanimously say let the QB of the future sit for a year or two.

My thought is this. If we are only draft our QB of the future to sit the bench for a year or two....why draft him in the first round. IMO a #9 pick QB is a guy that is ready to and SHOULD start now. You don't draft and pay #9 money to a guy that needs to ride pine for a while do to inability to start or quite litteraly fear for his safety.

If the answer is get our QB of the future now and let him sit...we may as well get a project at QB that will be ready to start when the O-line is ready to protect him and aid his development not stunt his growth. I'm just throwing a name out there but "pre-combine" a guy that could be had out side the first 2 rounds is Jevan Snead. I'm am no college football guru but he has a few things that can't be taught like size, mobility and a cannon for an arm.

Thoughts? What other QBs might fit this mold of a later draft pick, mobile, physical, big armed QB that could be groomed in a year or 2 to start? And please, just because a QB has a big arm and is mobile DOESN'T make him JP Losman. He was a reach for a first round pick and we all know how that worked out.

The reason for drafting him in the first round is that he has first round talent. We could wait and develop third round talent as we did with Trent, or where JP should have been drafted. Granted there are exceptions to that logic, ie Tom Brady. But those finds are few and far between.

We do need to get a top flight QB that we can mold for the future. That way when our line gels over the course of two to three years then our 1st round talent comes in and plays like 1st round talent, standing up because he has a good line to protect him. JMO

  6. My problem with Buddy is that he could drop dead or retire at any time..He's another stop-gap solution. we need someone with a long term vision to rebuild this team, not keep the parts duct taped together for another couple years

So what happens in a couple years if Buddy has turned the organization around and we are winning and looking like a respectable team again. Don't crucify the man before he has been given a chance. I understand as well as anyone that it has become commonplace to discount the "new regime" given our previous track record. However at the same time, Buddy is coming out and showing us a bit of a different attitude, one that we are not used to seeing. I am by no means saying that he will succeed at this level, I am just not gonna lose all hope in his vision before I have even had a chance to see it.

  7. I Like the way that most people on the TSW claim they want the team to have an attitude and how it all starts from the top. Well, now the attitude is starting from the top and all of a sudden we aren't happy with it? I think it shows the players and coaches that he isn't going to take any BS. I personally like the attitude that he is displaying and it is a nice change of pace from the whole "let's have class" and "we don't want to offend anyone" approach. If Nix is a good leader then everyone else will follow. Hopefully we will see some fire from this team that we haven't seen in a long time.

  8. Funny how everyone couldn't stand the guy for giving Trent (IIRC) the shot to the knee. Now he is possibly going to be up for grabs and all the man love is beginning. I think what it really boils down to is that we as Bills fans were jealous in the fact that we didn't have someone as nasty(and I mean that from an attitude stand point) as Wilfork and we were looking to go for the jugular. JMO.

  9. I don't expect nobody to say stuff like that to me in real life. The internet makes for a lot of tough guys. You're lucky that you're on the internet I can tell you that.

You don't bother me none but you should know I have a few Russian associates that are hackers and can figure out where anyone lives. Yevgeny is like a magician. He knows stuff about convertng internet addresses into street addresses.

That's great. Tell you russian associate I said Hi. LMAO!!!

  10. I was only on this board because my boss used to be here before he accidentally died. I was just updating everyone on my Jets. I don't really like Sanchez, but I REALLY don't like people giving my attitude. Be careful there Charlie.

If we wanted Jets updates we would go read about the Jets. Take your Jets updates somewhere else and leave it be. HAGD!

  11. Here's a hypothetical for you. Let's say that I stated that I love and worship cows, and some people start to follow my lead and also begin to love and worship cows, but they then started to kill or otherwise injure those who don't share their belief. You are implying that I am somehow a murderer for my love of cows?

    You sir, are an idiot.

    Where's the Beef?

  12. Lemme be the first to say who cares and next time please post something relevant

It took you more time to type your response than it did to read the thread. Why do people feel it's necessary to try and knock people down a peg when all the guy was trying to do was make a little conversation. I understand that this is a Bills board and his post was simply stating what he heard down here in FL. The way I interpreted it was that GOBILLS78 asked cool with a ? and all he did was answer the question. But if it makes you feel better slamming somebody down to the ground instead of typing nothing at all, then by all means, have fun with my post as well.

  13. I am sure this has been bantered about, but would you trade Trent Edwards and our 1st round pick for Cutler? I bet Evans and Owens would drool over that.

    Be kind with your thoughts.

Your right, it has been touched on, just a little bit

But another reason that was mentioned in previous posts might be the fact that Cutler's persona and that of TO might not blend so well. Seeings how they both appear to love the attention and the spotlight.

  14. I don't completely understand the obsession with Scheffler. With two actual weapons at receiver and two running backs that know how to run and catch and two good to better than average slot receivers, isn't there a strong possibility that Derek Fine will be...fine? He should get more opportunities as a check down if nothing else. With Royal gone I would think he would have a decent year for a tight end.

I think the obsession with Scheffler stems from a proven TE that will be one more facet of game planning that DC's have to contend with. It just leaves more options available for our offense as a whole. The WR's & RB's are in pretty good shape to say the least, but with a TE who has good hands and can work the seam, the possibilities increase a fair amount.

  15. I would seriously consider drafting 2 Centers and 2 Defensive Ends with their first four picks. Screw this best player on the board crap. Yea yea, I know...thank God I'm not GM BUT these two positions are KILLING this team. WR, LB and other positions can always be filled in Free Agency and later in draft

Please share whatever your smokin....I can't afford it anymore with all this economic turmoil
