  1. Jim Kelly's latest quote about quarterbacks says it all ...

"You don't need a big-name quarterback, you need a quarterback who could play, period," Kelly said. "It's doing your homework, sitting down with whomever it might be, and having it in your mind: `Will this guy fit in Buffalo, New York,' not somewhere in the NFL, but Buffalo."

If the Bills followed this strategy in 1983, Kelly wouldn't even be the team mascot he has become today. (Still love ya Jimbo) But he is living proof, maybe even the best example humanly possible that the new Quarterback doesn't have to be a Buffalo guy so to speak.

  2. You didn't happen to notice who the opponents were in all those games you watched, did you?

common response by any quarterback hater, all college quarterbacks have their share of easy games, Ben Roethlisberger and countless other quarterbacks would have never get drafted according to your theory

  3. anyone who doesn't think that Clausen is a stud quarterback did not watch any Notre Dame games this year. 28 TD's ,only 4 INTS all season, and played well even in all of ND's losses as well as playing most of the season with a bad foot. If they had any defense at all he may have won the heisman. Oh yeah... and his best receiver went out in week 2 with a season ending collarbone injury. We could do alot worse.

  4. Players in the NFL are bound to get hurt from time to time, but it is also no secret in the game of football that if you aren't good enough at playing the game of football you get hurt. Every year many of us say how this team has had bad luck with injuries, and to a point we have, but i think these players for the most part aren't good NFL players and thats why they can't stay on the field.

  5. INT's sometimes can really be a fluke stat, there is an above average chance that Byrdman will never record as many picks in a single season as he has this year, having said that.. (Curb your enthusiasm reference) he has been a great draft pick so far and appears to be someone we can pencil in for years to come.

  6. I think Roosevelt has a shot at getting drafted late, and in the right situation has a shot at playing somewhere in the NFL as a backup reciever after making a practice squad. Roosevelt's numbers speak for themselves, but the combine workouts or a seniors bowl game after the season will make or break his draft status.

I could be wrong about Starks, but i don't think he will enter the draft. He could easily petition the NCAA and get a 5th year of eligibility, especially since he never played a snap this season. Much smarter decision in my opinion. Has Starks definitely said he is entering the draft?

  7. This got me thinking today...is this the worst two quarterbacks that could be battling for playing time in team history. I'm not talking about the locker room dividing type controversy (flutie vs. johnson) im talking just strictly performance/talent wise.

i began to watch the Bills during the beginning of the Kelly era so i'm not sure about much before him but here is what i am thinking are the worst

    1997

Todd Collins vs. Alex Van Pelt (may have also involved Billy Joe Hobert if he read his playbook)

    2001

Alex Van Pelt vs. Rob Johnson

    2005

    J.P. Losman vs. Kelly Holcomb

    2007 + 2008

    Trent Edwards vs. J.P. Losman

    2009

    Trent Edwards vs. Ryan Fitzpatrick

before anyone tries to defend Edwards or Losman remember that we have had one of the worst offenses in the NFL statistically every season they have started, not to mention team history... fact not fiction, they deserve to be in this conversation.

I personally never felt more hopeless as a Bills fan then the Gregg Williams led 3-13 Bills season with AVP and Rob Johnson, but this season could prove pretty ugly to watch out of the quarterback position

  8. Owens once 'defiled' the Dallas star. Any problems with him playing there? Winning matters to players and front offices (well, NFL players & FOs, not the Bills where ticket sales matter most).

you know what also matters....the opinion of the face of the Ravens franchise, and the teams Captain for the last decade. I think he has a slight say as to who he wants in his locker room going into battle with him.

  9. Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome has been trying to get Owens on his roster for years.

didn't Newsome already get him on the roster and then had to trade him to the Eagles because he wouldn't play there? And wasn't Ray Lewis extremely pissed that T.O. refused to play there and mocked him in the media? Didn't TO mock Lewis in a TD celebration when they played each other? Why would this trade happen again?

The Bills aren't trading T.O., doing that would admit to the fan base that they have given up on the season. And even if they have given up..they aren't going to trade the guy that they sold you as this seasons hope

  10. Please list all really good decisions made by Ralph in 50 years. You cannot include Polian because that was a blind squirrel finding his nuts. I want a list of good decisions that you knew were good at the time they were made.

    I'll start:

    1. Bringing back Saban

    2. Hiring Knox

    .

    .

    .

    .

    that's all I got

    How about

    1) Buying the Bills

  11. Runyan's knee is shot... the eagles had injuries to there line and didn't pick him up and he has been a starter in their system pretty much his whole career. Doesn't that tell you something? Every team could use a good lineman, i don't think any team thinks his knee will hold up...which is why he continues to sit.

But thanks for being the 800,000th person to post this for all of us to read

  12. I know everyone wants Dick fired now, but think about how the Bills do business. We would fire Dick, we would promote someone like April, he would maybe finish with a .500 record or something...the offseason will come, and they will say they are removing the interim tag from April and decided to keep him as head coach because the team "fought really hard" for him or some other line of garbage. Ride it out this season and hope Ralph finally wants to open up the wallet for a coach. No big name coach will be coming here mid-season anyways it just doesnt and wouldnt happen.... so just stop

  13. Who in the local media is reaching out to Brandon and Wilson for comments about this game, and the state of thier team?

I'm not in Buffalo so its hard to know if any of the local outlets are making attempts to get answers from the people that matter....as sad as that may be.

Hopefully someone from the Buffalo News or Nationally comes up with a story about Ralphie's opinion. Count out WGR from giving us anything good since Hockey started on Saturday. WGR will now begin their man love affair with the Sabres and we now have 10 months of 24-7 Sabres talk to look forward to.

  14. I think expecting T.O. to carry the load was never realistic to begin with. He is 35 , very few receivers really ever put up huge numbers at that age. He looks uncoordinated and whatever you might see for many reasons, but the biggest reason is because all of us remember him as a world class talent as a receiver. Despite what you think of him, few receivers had the combination of size and speed that he once had. He is simply getting older and its weird to see him get little to no separation because he has lost a step. At this point in his career he is what he is. I think too many Bills fans think we have the under 30 yr old version of T.O.
