  1. Absolutely untrue. The solution is simple: require the defender to at least attempt to wrap his arms around the ball-carrier, as in rugby. This won't eliminate all concussions, but it will eliminate the most severe blows to the head. It is my understanding that the Seahawks have brought in a rugby coach to help the team with tackling technique and that they are now taught to always wrap up the ball carrier.

Robey had his head down, led with the crown of the helmet, and he made no effort to wrap up the ball-carrier. That's what he did wrong.

What are you looking at? The rule states "forcible contact with the crown of the helmet". (The crown of the helmet is the top of his helmet.) It never touches Cam. (The side of his helmet does, but that's not the crown.)

  2. I've officially spent WAY too much time on this, but bear with me.

It's a matter of perspective. You would have to move the ball (thrown location) down to the same height as the caught location and compare the distance to the line.

(Ignore the actual dimensions. They are measured in the program and the images are not scaled correct, but it still show how close and possibly forward the pass was.)

The video (On NFL.com) appears to show the ball moving back towards the line. It actually just moves further down than forward.

    Obviously I can't post pictures.

  3. even if this was true (it has since been refuted by PFT) or it did indeed come to fruition, the word in TC was Karlos played himself into the #2 spot. I do not think it would have been Fred starting in place of McCoy. He isn't fast enough, bottom line. I love him but he's not a workhorse RB anymore.

Agreed, he's not a workhorse RB anymore, but will Karlos play week 1?

  4.

What did he want to hear, exactly? Fred seems like a smart guy. I'm sure he can figure this out without Whaley telling him there's no room for an 34-year-old RB/locker room cheerleader when other, more important, players need to be extended. Common man.

Calling Fred Jackson a "locker room cheerleader" is about the dumbest thing I've read about this whole ordeal.

I think you should take this opportunity to recant your statement.

    C'mon man. (Not common man.)

  5. Just got word this morning- coaches' minds already made up, starting Manuel is a charade mostly to mess with Indianapolis and/or to see if he has any trade value. He has no chance of starting on opening day. Take it to the bank. According to a pretty credible source, I'm pretty sure I know who is starting. Carry on.

Dude..... you can't leave us hanging like that.......not cool.....

    I concur.

  6. Great move by Rex ..

2 -This indicates to me that Rex knows the pulse of the locker room and he knows that whoever wins the QB job needs to have the appearance of winning it fair and square so there can be no bitching or side taking once the big decision is made.

    Excellent point.

Any chance it will help with the fans bitching or taking sides once the big decision is made?

My biggest fear is that we have this QB debate ALL season long. No matter who starts.
