I’m still in the camp of the Bills either requesting to play the game Week 19 or forfeiting.
The Bengals have been a class act throughout this situation.
(For this discussion, I will disregard the questionable hits on Taron and Josh.)After reviewing all the options, IMO the only one that doesn’t hurt Cincy or disrupt the entire league is a Bills forfeit.
It sucks. It’s the same unlucky BS that I have lived with for my entire 40+ years as a Bills fan, but It’s the right thing to do. -

Right. Only solution is to finish the Bengals game. There are no other options.
Mondays game is not going to be played. The NFL is not going to adjust the playoff schedule or games. A simpler solution will prevail.

I just had a crazy thought … Clowney really doesn't make sense to me. Another name I've heard deep in the rumor mill was A.J. Green, which also doesn't make sense to me. What if the Bills "big splash" is Trent Williams?
He has dug his heels in and is refusing to play another down for the Skins … maybe Snyder wants to dump him for anything he can get. Even though I like Dawkins, I think Williams would be an upgrade.
I have NO inside information …. I am NOT making a prediction … just a thought, what do ya'll think???
Great minds think alike!

Just thinking out loud, but it makes more sense to me that the Bills would be trading Ty Nsekhe back to the Redskins for Trent Williams instead of Clowney.

Not re-signing Pat Williams.

No surprise. His effort and tackling in their playoff game was pathetic.
-
Bottom Line: He's headed to UFA.
Yes, I now understand why a tag and trade is highly unlikely - but it may be the only way a team like the Bills could get a legitimate shot at Cousins.

I thought we already discussed this?

Why would they use the Transition tag? Transition tag means they have the right of first refusal but they get no compensation if they dont match.
You are correct. It would have to be a franchise tag.

I don't think they could if they wanted to. They only have $36MM in cap space before the Smith deal. The transition tag will cost them $34MM. If nobody wanted to take that contract at $34MM, the Skins would need to gut their team and knowing it would be a fire sale, they would get 75 cents on the dollar if they were lucky. The Skins would need to pick up the remainder of a lot of contacts to make up the difference. It would take a pair of brass balls to try that or the stupidest owner in the NFL. I guess Snyder may qualify for one of those descriptions.
Agreed. I think the Redskins would need to have a deal in place to do this.
Would a team be willing to make a deal and take Cousins at 34MM with exclusive negotiating rights?

might want to get hit refresh on your updates dude...cousins wont get the tag they traded for alex smith. They are not gunna slap a tag on him hoping another team matches that offer, if i was another owner i would let them eat it and have both qbs on there team...and when they trade him later on in the year to have dead salary cap in future years.
I am fully aware of the updates DUDE.

I think the Redskins will place a
transitionfranchise tag on Cousins, so is he worth the huge contract AND giving up a draft pick and/or other compensation?I like Cousins, but it seems like the team that does acquire him is destined to overpay. I'm not sure that translates to long term success.
I'm convinced the best option is to draft a QB in the 1st round and hope he becomes the long term solution.

Here is the best way to figure it out:
Assuming Bills go 3-1 (loss to Pats) basically the Ravens would have to lose 2 games.
Steelers over Ravens Week 14
Ravens over Browns Week 15
Ravens over Colts Week 16
Bengals over Ravens Week 17

I predict Peterman starts this week and throws for 333 yards, 3TDs & 3 INTs in a victory over the Chefs ("Great googly moogly.").
And ALL is well for Bills fans!!!....until the following week.

After the Chargers game, I thought the same thing - McDermott HAD to go back to Tyrod for the remainder of the season.
Now, I think he is screwed either way.
If he goes back to Tyrod, he looks weak and undetermined. Also, we don't learn any more about Peterman or his future (I don't believe that can be determined on one game.) Best outcome for this option is that Tyrod comes out and plays more aggressive and starts lighting it up, but given past indicators this is doubtful.
If Peterman starts again, I think he could lose the locker room. But this is the only way McDermott can regain his credibility. If Peterman starts this week and starts throwing interceptions, the season would be over. But the best outcome for this option is if Peterman somehow turns it around and plays really well....once again highly doubtful given past indicators.
Unfortunately, (for us fans desperate for the playoffs) this decision will not be based on getting to the playoffs this year. I think McDermott has left himself with only one viable option for his long term future and credibility - starting Peterman.

From the REALLY not important Dept.: Guaranty is not wrong - just obsolete.
http://grammarist.com/usage/guarantee-vs-guaranty/
Guaranty is an obsolete form of the word guarantee, it is now mostly used as a noun in financial and legal documents to refer to something that is offered as security that an action will occur.

Tyrod in the top ten!?!

I was being faseashous.
Wow. I hate to be the spelling police, but that was too bad to ignore.... facetious.
Anyone else more low-key about this loss than you thought you'd be?

Remember when Ronnie Harmon dropped the pass in the end zone?
That play. And every single heartbreaking loss in between, comes back to the surface (annually) when we come up short of winning a SuperBowl.
On this occasion, thanks to old age, mental preparedness for Bills losses and copious amounts of bourbon…I have become comfortably numb.
