  1. If this comment was already made, my bad.

So I knew I recognized Mike Pettine, I couldn't place where. Now I do. He is from North Penn High School, locally here outside of Philly. Our new D coordinator was the coach of North Penn when ESPN ran an unusual special about a high school football team for one season. That season was North Penn here outside of Philly, and Mike P was the coach. It was a great show. Awesome. North Penn High School is an awesome program as well. Some one should look up that show on youtube or something.

Found it. the full documentary is awesome. The attached video is for 7 minutes:

    It is on NFL.Com now.

    Little Doug Marrone History:

What do i like the most about Dog Marrone? Born and raised in the Bronx. I think guys like Mario Williams, Marcel Dareus, Aaron Williams, to name a few need a Bronx flavor to kick them all to the next level of what they can do on the field.

I of course meant Doug, not Dog.

  4. Ridiculous that this is not televised. I am listening to the Press Conference Now. Hey this is great for Russ Brandon to be given this opportunity. Happy for the opportunity that he is presented. I am hearing the same verbiage from him however - "Moving forward............I Empower my people.........." That's great in all.

The big problem here is this, if you are Chip Kelly, Lovie Smith, Ray Horton, Bill O'Brien......I don't think the issue for these quality coaches is working for the Bills. I think the issue for these coaches will be working for an unknown named Russ Brandon.

Russ is spot on with one of his comments - Its crap that the Bills not willing to spend money. The Bills have spent money, but in the wrong places. He is right that the Bills have spent money.

  5. BTW - Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

That said, if I rewind back to Dec of 2009 and Jan 2010, I believe that the whole Shanahan shenanigans never did end of on www.profootballtalk.com. I dont know, when reports hit this web site, like I said, some fire behind the smoke.

Don't get me wrong, I am skeptical that any Tier 1 Coach will want to be involved with the current front office in Buffalo, outside of working with Whaley.. The front office above Whaley all the way to the top is probably the biggest deterent to getting the franchise on track.

  6. Yeah, let's fire a WNY guy who loves Buffalo and grew up a Bills fan. I'm sure that jerk has no interest in keeping the Bills in Buffalo. And this team that has missed the playoffs 13 years in row still moves a lot of tickets. Dude is good at his job. He's one of the best assets we have in keeping the Bills in Buffalo. That $75 million we got for 5 meaningless games probably helped us sign Mario Williams (wait, are we running him out of town today?).

    Completely disagree

  7. Ok, I think before the end of the year or shortly after it ends, Buddy will tell Chan he needs to fire Wanny. My guess is that Chan wouldn't have any problem with firing his friend but will decide that he's just not the man for the job. I'm thinking a resignation is in order, not a firing. JMO.

I think Chan is wants out, but it will take a firing to get it done.

  8. For the first time in several years, the top tier AFC teams aren't what they used to be. As of now, there really isnt a clear cut, without a doubt, top tier echelon group of team(s). If we are ever to make a playoff push, this is the year! There finally seems to be some parity in the AFC and we need to get out *&%$% together, and take advantage of it.

    Just a few examples:

    • Houston - Very good team, but didn't look like it last night and can be beaten.
    • New England - Very good team, but they are 3-3 and are slowly becoming inconsistent week to week
    • Baltimore - Very good team, but are now going to have to deal with injuries and a tough division
    • Pittsburgh - Good team, battling Injuries and an overall again roster
    • San Diego, Denver, Jets - All decent teams but are beatable

I'm not ready to say we are or aren't making the playoffs, and it certainly won't be easy with a underperforming QB and a porous defense, but for the first time in years we have a legitimate chance based on our remaining schedule and the recent struggles of the top echelon teams. Let's hope they can get it together and make a playoff push in December. (Which will also fill those December seats at the Ralph)

    Here's to cautious optimism.....

I was thinking about this as well, except for the Bills of course :). How ugly are these stats: Only 2 teams in AFC have a winning record, 7 in NFC; 9 teams in AFC with a .500 record or better, 11 in NFC.

I still think Houston is the favorite in the AFC, although losing Cushing is a big loss. Throw the Packers game out, just a bad game by Houston. Going to come down to Houston and NE in the AFC. NE schedule down the stretch is very favorable with home games vs Houston and the 49ers. In the NFC, I am not buying the Falcons. I am buying the GMEN, Bears and 49ers.

  9. Las freaking Vegas.

The whining, the crying, the pissing and moaning that the wheels have completely fallen off and the team is 11 games away from becoming the Los Angeles Bills has reached fever pitch here.

Much like women in an Aboriginal tribe who have locked into the same menstrual cycle, twobillsdrive.com is an overwhelming display of vaginal and hormonal imbalance.

But for the people out west who rig the game, pay off the refs, and pressure Goodell into destroying video tapes that prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the game is controlled by factors other than blood, sweat and tears from these proud gladiators on the field (see: spygate,) they see the rest of the season playing out like this:

In order of odds win the American Football Conference:

    1) Texans

    2) Patriots

    3) Ravens

    4) Chargers/Broncos

    5/6) Steelers, Chargers/Broncos

    7) Buffalo Bills,Miami Dolphins,New York Jets,Cincinnati Bengals

So the Vegas money, RIGHT NOW, the morning when most of you woke up ready to call direct tv to cancel your Sunday ticket, has the bills as a not very profitable prop bet to get a wildcard.

i repeat: if you go to las vegas and try to place a prop bet at one of the casinos on the Bills getting a 6 seed, you would get essentially a push bet.

Meaning Vegas, who's business it is to be right about these things... literally, it is their source of profit... thinks it's a safe bet the Bills will contend for a wild card spot.

I want you to think about that for awhile, before you respond with the "big whoop, that doesnt mean anything."

Because if you've ever gambled before... you would know... it means EVERYTHING.

no offense... actually, i dont care if I offend you... vegas is right about professional football a HELL of a lot more than ANYONE ive ever seen predict ANYTHING 3 months out on this board. If they werent, you would be the billionaire building hotels in the middle of the desert - not them.

So... go ahead and flame away, and talk about how bad our defense is, and how my head is up my ass, and on and on and on. Every gambler knows, its the emotional ones who make stupid bets - like bills fans. But the house money is on the Bills to be RIGHT THERE in week 17 for a wild card spot.

Hate to point this out, but all that statement says to me is that 11 of the 16 AFC teams will be in contention for the playoffs. Quite frankly, that doesn't say much about the AFC, nor does it change my mind that the Bills are headed towards a disaster.

  10. Can't say that he was over reacting because u don't know for sure how much pain he was in...I'm sure if he was able to play that he most certainly would have, especially when he was leading the league at rushing at the time of the injury....stingers happen

I am not sure he was over reacting. At the time of "trauma" so to speak, this injury is insanely painful, but then the pain has a way of subsiding rather quickly over a few days. Again, not diminishing the injury whatsoever because it is painful. I suspect that what increased the pain at the time of trauma was CJ getting air knocked out of him as well. Those two instances hitting at once......yeah insanely painful.

With or without CJ, I really, really like Buffalo's chances tomorrow.

  11. do we like Bruschi now?

Always liked Bruschi. Even though he had enemy colors on, what a fantastic player, and one of the many Parcells draft picks that helped with the early 2000's super bowl run.

I have shared my thoughts on the game on another post. But I will share again. If our D Line and O Line (not worried about our O Line really) play to the same level as they did vs Cleveland, I really, really like our chances. Cleveland's O Line is better than the Pat's O Line. Our D Line dismantled the Cleveland O Line. I don't feel the Pat's O Line has nearly enough to contain our front 4.

I see this game shaping up as Mario's coming out party. I think Belichick will paly his bet and try to deal with Kyle Williams and Marcel Dareus first. that should lean to one on one blocking vs Mario and Mark Anderson. I like our DE's vs their tackles in this match up, which should in theory lead to blocking help from Gronk, takign Gronk out of the passing game.

As said, i like out chances this weekend. Upset special of the week!

  12. The Pats' O-line is easily the worst one the Bills have faced so far. If Mankins is out, it's even worse. Throw-in crowd noise and it's worse still.

I actually think this game is setting up to be Mario's coming out party. The PAT's O Line is not as good as Cleveland's O Line. Dareus not explosive? Wow, I just dont know what the NFLN is watching for highlights then. I feel Dareus is playing really good football.

If the D Line and O Line play like they have the last two weeks, this game has upset special written all over it. I really, really like the Bills chances this weekend.

  13. I'm a bit worried about handling the Patriots when they'll obviously be playing with a chip on their shoulders after losing two in a row on the last play of the game, especially without the benefit of having our two biggest offensive playmakers. On the plus-side for us is the fact that Patriots offensive tackle Nate Solder should be suspended for several games for kicking a player in the head, Aaron Hernandez is out with an injury, and the game will be played in Buffalo.

If we are going to win, I can't stress enough how important it will be for us to get a two score lead early, and let the crowd take over the game. Another important aspect will be for our young team to play incredibly physical, but to stay under control. Penalties, especially on defense, will kill us. We can't give a motivated Tom Brady extra chances to pick our young secondary apart. Thirdly, the Patriot defense is young at several crucial positions in the front 7. Our offensive line needs to punch them in the mouth and dominate them, stealing from them their willingness to play and their ability to compete. Lastly, we need good Fitz to show up. We cannot turn the ball over at all and expect to win this game. If we can manage to do these four things, we have a much better than 50% chance of walking off the field with a "W".

If Our O Line and more importantly D Line play as well as they did yesterday, we have more than a chance at winning. Cleveland's O Line is a lot better than they are given credit for, I would say they are even better than the Pat's front five.

  14. I have a suspicion that Chan my be gone sooner. However, is Chan really the problem? Make no mistake, the Bills were flat out not ready last week vs the JETS. But can we all honestly say that Chan is focal point of the Bills problems? Is it Chan? Front Office? Both? Not defending Chan, but he came in and took over a BIG MESS of a roster. I guess I didn't realize how much the roster was devoid of talent at the end of 2009. Sure Buddy has been adding pieces, but it looks like it will take more time to build the roster to be even competitive because he hasn't exactly hit on every draft choice. It is obvious that the lack of talent at WR, LB and in Fitz are all becoming more and more glaring. Chan will most likely take the fall for this. I want to throw more darts at Marv for his time at GM, but folks on this board have had enough of hearing about that, so I wont.

When Chan gets the pink slip, whats happens next? The Bills elevate Wannstedt to interim HC then offer him the full set of keys????? That's an obvious step readily available and keeps the Bills from having to make to big of a house cleaning. Is that the right thing to do, however, especially when other issues are becoming bigger and bigger every day, such at the Stadium Lease. Get a BIG Time Coach in and the negotiations for the lease become more productive and the state probably becomes more confident that their investment in the Bills. At the end of the day however, I am not confident that the Bills can reel in a Big Time Coach, not because the Bills can't afford it, but because of the Front Office that is in place today. Front Office in my reply here means above Buddy and Doug Whaley. The Front Office is not in the same class as the Front Office's of teams consistently winning over the last 10 years - Pat's, Ravens, Steelers, GMEN, Eagles, Saints, etc. And in my opinion, the current Front Office is the true issue holding the Bills back from the major issues facing the franchise - Winning / Stadium Lease / Increased Profitability / etc.

    Chiefs 16 - Bills 9.

  15. I have been suspecting for a little bit that the two have not been on the same wave length. I do believe Nix is NOT the problem for sure and he will do what he has to do if things do not turn around this year. I'm not so sure I agree with you that Fitz's issues are his decision making, even though be made many last Sunday. I believe its a combination of things. The WR's, his accuracy, his decisions, coaching and a lot of the time the line.

Cant say I totally disagree with the post. Yes on WR's and accuracy, but not so sure on the O Line. The O Line has a lot of pressure put on it by the way Chan runs the Offense and it forces Eric Wood to be spot on always with blitz pick up. The Mental part of the game for Eric I feel is coming, but not all the way back yet. FWIW, the O Line played pretty well against the JETS.

I must say that I am not as 100% as I used to be with Chan.

  16. 11/27, TD, 4 INT

"We understand that Jay is excited about his new weapons, but it's the same-old Jay. We don't need luck; Jay will throw us the ball." --Charles Woodson, after last night's game

Cutler was the 11th overall pick in the 2006 draft. The Bears traded Orton, two first-rounders and a third-round pick to get Cutler.

I don't know what my ultimate point is, but I think some members of this board need a reminder from time to time that Fitz isn't the only QB in the league who has shortcomings. Cutler's bio is a lot shinier than Fitz's, but, are the results any different?

Only a select few clubs are set at the quarterback position. The rest of them are just trying to get by.

Last night wouldn't have bothered me so much if Cutler wouldn't have acted like a big jerk. INT's will be thrown. He was completely out of line with some of his team mates. He may get rung up in the locker room if he keeps up running his mouth and disrespecting the team the way he did.
