  1. Opponents

    Miami - 2

    NY Jets - 2

    Pats - 2

    NFC

    Cards

    Rams

    49ers

    Seahawks

    AFC

    Jacksonville

    Houston

    Indianapolis

    Tennessee

Then 2 teams from the AFC North (Decided Later)

Looking at this schedule in hopes of us becoming a better team this year and continuing to build it set us up great for a real big push to a division title in 2012. I think we can win games this year but I thought it would be interesting to look at 2012.

What do you guys think just looking at this schedule?

I believe the 2 teams that are decided later are the teams that finish the same rank as the Bills in each of the other AFC Div that we do not play already. For example, if we finish 3rd in AFC East we would get the 3rd place finisher from the AFC North and West.

  2. I have to listen to these 2 numnuts spew their crap about how the Bills aren't better on offense from last year and that "stats" don't back up how every one says they are so much better offensively. Well, I hate to post cold hard facts, but they are vastly improved, even without taking out Edwards two brutal games before Fitz took over. I am going to solely concentrate on what has happened in the 9 games since Fitz has been the starter. The numbers are basically like night and day from last year. Anyone who can possibly make a statement that "there has been no improvement offensively" is clearly just misguided or plain out wrong.

    Here we go:

    In 2009: Bills gained 273.9 yards/game(30th), averaged 4.81 yards/play(26th), scored an average of 16.1 points/game(28th) and converted 26% of 3rd downs(32nd-worst in the NFL)

    In 2010(9 games under Fitz): 350.1 yards/game(13th), 5.55 yards/play(12th), 23.6 points/game(12th), 43.2% on 3rd down conversions(6th)

So basically we gain 76.2 more yards per game or +17 spots(actually puts us directly ahead of NEW ENGLAND in yards per game) average .76 more yards/play(directly ahead of INDY) or +14 spots, 7.5 points/game more(directly behind the Jets and Texans) or +16 spots, and convert 17.5% more 3rd downs into 1st downs(directly ahead of Tampa Bay and San Diego) or +26 spots.

I don't know about anyone else, but I consider that DRASTIC and VAST improvement over last year. If the Bills defense was a little bit better, the Bills numbers would likely be even better since they would have the ball more often. Where they have the audacity to say the Bills "aren't any better on offense this year than last year" is a total farce and next time I hear it you can be damn sure I'm calling in to set the record straight!!

good post! offense is VERY much improved. Improvement on 3rd down is unbelievable. Last year i used to change the channel after a 2nd down incomplete pass or dump off by Edwards... How much has the sacks per pass attempt gone down??

  3. STEP #1- Predict one NFL team to win each week (straight up/ no spread). You can't choose the same team more than once for the season. a "tie" is considered a win.

STEP #2- one final winner will be known as the King or Queen of TBD.

STEP #3- ALL losers must pay homage to the winner in the form of an over the top complimentary post.

STEP #4- This is a game of HONOR. picks MUST be made BEFORE the game starts. Post your pick in this thread. If you forget to pick one week, you are eliminated.

STEP #5- in the unlikely event this contest lasts beyond the regular season, we will revisit team eligibility for the playoffs.

    New York Giants over Carolina

  4. +1

Coach Tuesday's analysis is terrible. The inside of our line is set and it's a darn good one too if Wood can return to form. We are very weak at T. Nonetheless, a trade a a legitimate starter turns what would have been a below average starter (Bell/Wang) into a pretty decent backup. The OL is 2 players away from being a strength. 1 player away from being respectable.

    Completely agree.

Week 16 Buffalo vs. New England Patriots*- LOSS

Week 17 Buffalo vs. NY Jets - WIN

  6. How this guy slipped through the draft is beyond me. He reminded me of Joey Porter watching him. Looks like we found a diamond in the rough here. This guy led the SEC in sacks which is probably the toughest division in college football

To me, throw a pitt jersey on this guy and he would blend right in with the steelers. Like this pick-up, terell suggs also ran sub 4.7 in the 40!!!!

  7. 1. The Bears covet Nate Allen (Safety from South Florida). He's still on the board, but could be the next safety off the board. Doesn't have the fame of Taylor Mays, but is probably more ready to play now. Without a 2nd round pick the Bears will more than likely have to move up to land Allen. Now news breaks there shopping several of their LB's to add picks. I think the Bears will make an aggresive trade up to land their man.....Nate Allen.

    2. I think it's more likely the Bills trade back then up this round. I suspect the Bills are high on Eric Norwood, who would be a bit of a reach at #41, but may not be there at #72. By moving back and picking up an extra 3rd-4th they could land Norwood at a more reasonable slot.

    3. Yesterday when the Chargers made the huge moveup to #12 I was sure it was to land Dan Williams. Wrong. I suspected for a long time that SD liked Jeff Owens to replace Jamaal Williams as NT. Now without a 2nd round pick, I think the Chargers will really be hoping to see Owens on the board when they pick in Round 3. A.J. Smith has clearly been reaching for needs the last few years so don't be surprised to see SD move up again and target their desired NT.

    4. Let's hope the Pats don't turn one of their 2nd round picks into a 2011 1st round pick.

If new england trades a 2nd for another #1 next year I will cry. They already have Oaklands #1 pick next year which will most likely be top 10. Wow!! They are smart. 13 picks!!!! They can afford gamble on guys like Blount from Oregon, or Mike Williams from Cuse and if they miss no harm done

  8. Morgan made a lot more sense to me before they picked up Dwan Edwards. Morgan would be a perfect 3-4 DE. As a 3-4 OLB, he'd be yet another player we're trying to convert from DE to LB.

We've already got Edwards, Stroud, Spencer Johnson, and maybe Kyle Williams pencilled in as DE's in the new scheme - we need an NT.

Clausen seems OK, but this QB class is so weak compared to what is expected for next year, I'd hate to reach on one now. I'd be happier taking a flier on Tebow in the 2nd.

Trading down would be ideal if none of the right LT's or NT's are there. Problem there is, as always, you need a partner to make a trade.

Um NO.... Morgan (6-4 266) is the perfect 3-4 OLB in the mold of Shawne Merriman (6-3 270) or Terrell Suggs. 3-4 DE's are in the mold of Richard Seymour. Usually around 290-300.

  9. I would vomit in my mouth if we drafted Cambell at 9. The only pick that is somewhat respectable is Wooten..but not even that really.

Hes the 3rd or 4th rated OT. Tackle is notoriously a position that teams will "reach" on. Why would he be such a terrible pick??

  10. If we go out and trade for Jason Campbell, we doom this team for years to come. The only way I take him is if he is a free agent. I'm sick to my stomach thinking about Gailey trading for him to be our starter. The guy sucks. He is why the Redskins have sucked for years. Please don't do this.

I'd rather take my chances on developing Brohm and staying with Edwards then getting Campbell.

Jason Campbell is a free agent. Therefore, he can't be traded.

  11. http://draftzoo.com/mock-drafts-2/

I like this mock draft especially if the Bills can address ILB, QB, and WR in free agency. Wooten is a beast (6-7 280)and can rush passer from the 3-4 DE position. Didnt know much about Lane but looks impressive @ 6-6 265. Snead has all the physical tools to succeed. Cooper is a steal in the 6th.

    9.) BUF-- Bruce Campbell, OT

Breath easy, Bills fans. Tim Tebow has dropped from this spot. I think the Bills will look to add a quarterback at some point, but there are a few intriguing middle round prospects that would allow them to address one of their greatest needs here. Yes, there are plenty of holes in the front seven now that the 3-4 is posh in Buffalo, but there a few pieces to work with (Marcus Stroud, Aaron Maybin, Paul Posluszny ). The need I’m talking about is at offensive tackle. I’m willing to be that there are only a handful of QBs in the entire league that could play well behind the current tackles. Campbell comes with an injury history, but he’s as physically gifted as any OT in this class, and could pan out well as a longtime LT for the Bills.

9 (41). BUF-- Corey Wooten, DE

If the Bills want to make a successful transition to the 3-4, they’ll learn from Denver’s mistake. You have to have youth and talent up front. Without Wootton, Buffalo is light on both.

8 (72). BUF — Austen Lane, OLB, Murray State

He a great athlete that can probably start soon opposite Aaron Maybin in the new 3-4. If not, he might be able to bulk up and play down. Just a good piece for the transition.

9 (104). BUF — Jevan Snead, QB, Ole Miss

He’s nowhere near the first round pick I predicted he’d be before the season (good call on that one, dumbass), but he does have all the physical tools to play in Buffalo. Chan Gailey needs to get his guy in this draft.

9 (136). BUF — Linval Joseph, NT, East Carolina

The Bills are going to have to find a plug for the middle of the new 3-4, assuming Marcus Stroud can’t do it. He might fit better on the outside anyway. Joseph has the size, but is a bit of a project.

9 (168). BUF — Riley Cooper, WR, Florida

Maybe Buffalo doesn’t wait this long to address the WR spot. But they will at some point considering TO and Josh Reed will likely be gone in 2010. Cooper is good value here and could surprise.

    23 (182). BUF — Ryan D’Imperio, ILB, Rutgers

He’s a tough, blue collar, guy that seems to be a good fit for Chan Gailey. He can play inside in the 3-4, and might end up a pleasant surprise after such a productive college career. They need to make sure they have plenty of pieces for the transition.

2 (193). BUF — Adrian Tracy, OLB, William and Mary

The Bills hope that Aaron Maybin can become great in the 3-4, but it’s not a sure thing. Tracy is a great gamble in the seventh, and was ultra-productive in college.

9 (200). BUF — Chris Marinelli, OT, Stanford

No reason not to add more competition and depth at the offensive tackle spot.
