  1. Actually I'm laughing at all the people who pay for this kind of "inside information".

    Good point, haha.

We do. I don't understand the folks here who are still worried about our DL - that was a legitimate comcern in April - the preseason has made that look like a non-issue.

Edwards-Williams-Stroud have looked damned good up there. Troup and Carrington have shown good promise.

Remember - this is a 3-4 now - we're not looking for a bunch of sacks from the DL.

The scary thing has been our LB's - they have shown very little.

I have to respectfully disagree with this one. I think its impossible for either of us to speculate too much as to how our line will look come game day. We have admittedly been running a fairly vanilla defense in the pre-season, and having gone to a 4-3 in the Detroit game, its obvious we're being mysterious with it.

That being said, I'm not sure how I stand on our D-Line pressure. Personally, I believe that the player who stands the best chance to get constant QB pressure is going to be John McCargo, its just a matter of getting him on the field. I like Stroud at the end, but I'm going to have to say that he is going to be in there to fill up some holes in the run game on the outside moreso than he will be in there to get pressure on the QB.

I know we're not looking for sacks with our D-Line, but two of the three starters have a bad track record against the run, and it sounds to me more and more that we'll be playing some 4-3.

  2. I clicked on your link... someone had this to post:

I think 7-9, perhaps even 6-10. Too much turnover on the roster. Lots of youth on the field...Offensive live has taken a step back and the defense has huge question marks all over the field. Who will rush the passer besides Wake? Who can play CB opposite Vontae? Is Clemons really the man at safety....I guess he can't be worse than Gibril Wilson? The offensive line play is likely to cramp Henne's development, will certainly hinder the running game and will frustrate Marshall because he will get open but Henne will be running for his life or playing Captain Checkdown. Thigpen might be a better fit if we are going to force the QB to run for his life this year.

I see another opening day loss on the way too....Buffalo 17 - Miami 10.....Spiller gets his first TD and Lee Evans roasts a CB for a long score. Ricky Williams gets the Dolphins TD. The difference in the game will be field position....Miami will give up a bunch of it with penalties and poor return coverage.

...and I will be there, every game, courtesy of DirecTV......it will probably start turning around next year....provided Parcells and company aren't run out of town.

Even if that guy is all alone (which he is not, I read a few others who shared his opinion), they actually seem way more down to earth and realistic in their posts than we have.

  3. If anyone needed further explanation as to why I stopped posting here, parts of this thread should provide more than enough proof.

    ...

When I gave Mike the link, he was especially amused by the "This writer is a moron and I would guess that he won't last in this town much longer" line, considering he's a Canisius grad who's been working for The News since 1987.

I don't get it. Why do you feel the need to let us know you told the guy who wrote this article that some message board didn't like it?

I don't think anyone has any personal hatred for the local media. Jealousy perhaps, but enough with this personal attack business. Your job is to have things read by a mass amount of people. Criticism is in the job description. At no point did any of the posts cross the line of general disagreement for the article, and actual hatred for its author. Some people are going to dislike certain aspects of your profession.

Having read books by some journalist legends like Robert Novak, I'm under the impression that in the old days, they would've loved the attention it brought to their work. If I were a sports writer, I'd make it my sole obligation to write a controversial piece in order to spark debate centered on my article. Getting your work noticed has got to be the first priority.

So why is it that when a relatively harmless insult is made on a local article, you felt the need to come out of your TBD retirement?

  4. well, if they can dish it out to sportswriters with an all-too-generalizing sweep of a brush, then i guess i'm free to respond in kind. to be fair, i did have one positive post in suggesting Bills fans have a chance to be No. 1 at something. why shoot for second?

Actually, as far as sport teams message boards go, I'm very surprised at the above average level or grammar and insightful posts (also complete sentences and lack of children).

I think there are childish fans out there on these boards, but if you just go to a Raiders message board for example, its difficult to read, hard to follow, and filled with ridiculous images, long rap lyric signatures and swearing.

Sure we're a negative bunch... It's easy to get down on the media when your team has been below average for 10 consecutive seasons.

For comparison sake, three-time Pro Bowl fullback Tony Richardson was scheduled to make $855,000 this year before the New York Jets cut him Sunday. The main reason he was released was he cost too much. Baltimore Ravens fullback Ray Rice, last year's Pro Bowler, will make a base salary of $470,000 this year and $550,000 next year.

    :wallbash:

    5'8, 199, 4.46 40 time, 78 receptions and 2,000 offensive yards for 2009.

    Watch out Larry Centers.

*Edit: For the record, Le'Ron McClain was Baltimore's "Pro Bowl Fullback" last year. Honest mistake?

  6. I don't think it is money related. If Hardy or Jackson was going to be your 5th or 6th receiver, then it is more than likely that they are not going to be dressed for the actual game. It seems a shame to inactivate Jackson and Hardy for every single game. Plus both cannot play special teams.

THe real problem was that Nelson outplayed Hardy in the limited chance he got and made Hardy expendable. Jones makes it because he has a chance to develop and will not mind being deactivated for the game day.

Nope it was money related. Ralph is cheap, blah blah blah, etc. etc.

  7. You know, I'm going to stop responding to your posts. Why don't you do the same thing with my posts, it's just getting tiresome. I get it PTR, the Front Office can do no wrong. You're on record. Please let me be.

I think what he's saying though, is that, if you're going to fault our scouting department, etc. the best example probably isn't Levi Brown.

As other have stated, he's a 7th round pick. I liked him too initially, but I think it was because he was the only thing new to a group of QB's that I had little or no respect for. In the end, it looks like Gailey decided Edwards is actually not completely shot after all.

Gailey can't be spending time developing 3 quarterbacks at once. If Levi came in and just beat the world out there, maybe we'd be having a different conversation, but because he didn't (and he wasn't exactly drafted to), we cut him.

Blaming the scouting department or Chan Gailey is rather silly.

  8. Dominique Harris (S) practice squad addition.

John Russell (LB) practice squad addition.

Paul Hubbard (WR) practice squad addition.

Jason Watkins (G) practice squad addition.

Naaman Roosevelt (WR) practice squad addition.

Rodney Ferguson (RB) practice squad addition.

Joique Bell (RB) practice squad addition.

    Bills Transactions

Dang, Kasper. I was so sure you were right. What happened, buddy? Maybe they'll only sign 7 to save $100K now, right?

    PTR

PTR, didn't you know that they kept Jones over Jackson because of money? I mean why do you think they let go Hardy?!

  9. Scott, I was able to register for the regular pool, and tried to login into the survivor pool, but got the pop-up that said I needed an invite. I tried logging out, and using it again, but came to the same problem.

Logout, close your browser. Click on the link, and if you're still logged out, it will prompt you to login, and you'll be directed to your my pools list and there should be two.

  10. Why not? You just need to choose "Take this Pool" once you visit the link (after signing in).

I'm not sure if this is what he meant, but the tbd2 pool link brings up a pop-up window that says:

"Oops !! This is a private pool and You are not invited to view this one."

Thanks so much for setting this up. Last year was fun.
