  1. You know we got screwed when ESPN actually writes an article about the penalties called against the Bills, even if it is just a blog post.

    http://espn.go.com/b...ls-10-penalties

Jesus, when Mike freaking Rodak writes an article saying 7 out of 10 penalties fall into the questionable and iffy categories, you know we got screwed. Our offense has to play better and our D needs to step up, by the refs left us at a severe disadvantage.

  2. Who cares? Stop giving him the attention he craves

    This exactly.

In previous September threads on Trump (his gracious concession to TPegs and then his inevitable "TPegs overpayed" comments), I said I was surprised Trump he hadn't attempted to destroy the Bills a la Rosie O'Donnell, among others, that have crossed Trump in the past.

If this is the worst he says, I'd say to call us lucky, although I imagine this isn't the last we've heard of Trump on the Bills. The man literally can't get out of his own way.

  3. the colts gave up a 1st for Trent Richardson. i'd take a 3rd for CJ. a team that is desperate for a RB that is making a run at the Super Bowl (San Diego comes to mind) might be crazy enough to do it

Forgot about that one, you are correct. However, Richardson was a 23 year old 1000 yard rookie, 20 months removed from being the third overall pick with only 18 games under his belt. I think the way that deal turned out 12 months later will sour teams even more for trading high picks for RBs.

Even if we're talking about a 3rd, do you really think a team will give that up??? I'd take a 3rd but I don't think any team is in the business of trading a draft pick like that for a 27/28 year old RB.

Correct. Technically he is signed through next year, but CJ can opt out of his current contract, which he will most likely do.

I believe he already opted out in the spring, but I could be wrong.

  4. trade him while he's worth something! as the OP said, he's being misused so what good is he to us unless we get a new OC? trade him for a 2nd round pick to a team that needs a RB! SD perhaps?

Would a 2nd round pick be the absolute lowest you would accept for him? If so, nobody in the NFL will burn a second for an age 27/28 running back in 2014. Considering Sankey at 54 was the first player taken, why wouldn't a team just pick their own guy, especially knowing CJ's spotty track record?

In fact, the highest RB trade value we've seen in the past couple years was Bryce Brown, and even then Bryce is a 23 year old running back with very minimal wear and tear on him from both college and the pros. I can't see the Bills getting anything higher than a 4/5, and I'd rather take my chances like Gungy said: throw an acceptable number at him, if he doesn't sign, let the chips fall where they may.

  5. I'm a pretty well-documented Spiller supporter. I think I've found a way to express what I believe would be an acceptable end-game as it relates to Spiller's continued tenure in Buffalo.

    What is Spiller?

    The Good

Spiller is a playmaker. He has good hands. He is fast. He is low-maintenance. He keeps his nose clean and works hard. He's averaged over 1,000 yards over the past two seasons. He's always a threat to bust out a 40+ yard run. He has been #2 in the NFL for running plays over 20 yards for the past two seasons.

    The Bad

Spiller lacks stamina. He can't block. He can't make his own holes. He is ineffective in the red zone. Most of his carries are less than 4 yards.

The Stuff Outside of His Control

Hackett is not using him like a Sproles-type player. Hackett continues to run him up the gut. He's not targeted on enough pass plays.

    The Solution

He should not be paid the same money as a primary running back.

He should be a situational weapon and a special teams weapon (like Hester, as someone stated earlier).

Offer him a contract that will pay him as such. NOT as a featured RB.

If he walks, so be it.

You hit the nail on the head sir, bravo. Whatever we get out of a trade for him will be minimal, being a age 27 soon to be age 28 running back with a spotty track record. I'd be more comfortable attempting to work out a reasonable contract (4 years 12-16-18 M) and acceptable signing bonus for both sides. Premier NFL running backs have had their values diminished greatly the past 2-3 years, and a running back like CJ Spiller (can we all agree at least average?) will not command as much money as them on the open market.

However, as we all know, it takes two to tango, and Spiller may be inclined to find a team that would leverage his skill set better than the buffoons in the Buffalo the last 5 years. Even with that being said, I still agree with Gugny, let this one play out and if he walks, so be it.

  6. Maybe not enough time has passed for the reporters identity to come out, but you gotta love how NOBODY is reporting who their idiot colleague was that asked the bonehead question. I hated the EJ pick and I hated the move to bench him even more after 14 games, and I think Orton will flame out this year, but I love the stones on the guy for calling out the dumb question. Hopefully it keeps these guys a little more honest in their questioning, although I imagine it will just have the opposite result.

Regarding Watkins saying what he said (if he actually said it the way Rodak reported), to me, it really is a non-issue. Number one - EJ Manuel long term future is toast with the Bills. Once you bench a guy, especially this early in his career, he's done. Maybe he'll see the light and catch on with another team, but he's done here. This is Losman/Holcomb all over again until the 2016 draft. Number two - if/when EJ starts due to injury/Orton sucktitude, do you think EJ is going to give a rats ass what Watkins said a month past? He needs Watkins more than Watkins needs EJ.

  7. "They want you to cook the dinner at least they should let you shop for the groceries." - Bill Parcells.

since I didn't shop for the groceries, i'll cook what I want - Doug Marrone.

"since i have no ingredients and i'm a terrible cook, we'll go get some cheeseburgers." -- mike mularkey

    Well, this is fun...

"When you don't have any control over the grocery list and you don't have the ability to eat out, it is very, very hard to do anything of merit on the grill" - Dick Jauron

    Anybody wanna do Chan?

"Its hard to find the closest drive through in the NFL." -Dick J

Sorry Sodbuster, totally missed your comment there. I like yours better

  8. dont insult the wilsons and pegulas by comparing them or using them in the same sentence as rosie odonnell..

HA! Wasn't attempting to, just pointing out Trump turns into a crybaby when he doesn't get his way

"Rosie is crude, rude, obnoxious and dumb — other than that I like her very much!" Trump tweeted early Friday to his 2.6 million followers...The two have engaged in a long-running feud for years. In 2006, O'Donnell attacked Trump for refusing to fire Miss USA Tara Conner from the pageant he controls after she admitted to substance abuse. O'Donnell derided him as a "snake-oil salesman." Trump responded by calling her "fat" and "out of control."

I really am surprised he hasn't turned his sights on anything Buffalo related.

But my other question still stands for 26CornerBlitz - where'd you hear there was a 1.35B investor? If you mentioned it somewhere in the past I may have missed it.

  9. As I understand it, it was actually another bidder who was willing to pay $1.35 Billion, This is just more self important :censored: from Chump.

 Where did this come from?

I don't think he's being a sore loser, he's just doing what he does best, drawing attention to himself. I'm actually quite surprised that he hasn't made the Wilsons/Pegulas/Bills his new Rosie O'Donnell to be quite honest, although it is still early.

  10. Hardy was already found guilty of domestic violence in court. BUT he is appealing. So I would think they wait out the appeal and then decide whether to cut him.

    http://thebiglead.com/2014/05/16/greg-hardy-had-an-arsenal-of-weapons-straight-out-of-a-movie/#sthash.UvBTSH60.uxfs

Not defending him here, but NC has a convoluted system where you have to be found guilty by a judge before you are able to have your day in court before a jury. The judge said he's guilty so he's going to a jury. I don't think it's actually an appeal. So to say he's been found guilty isn't technically accurate at this point

  11.

You don't think falling off the rail and injuring himself and another, losing his job, paying a fine and 100 hours of community service accomplishes that? Hell, I'm sure he still have a civil suit coming his way.

The guy made a stupid mistake and paid (is paying) for it. How much more is really needed? 100 lashes in the town square?

I agree. He certainly earned the public abuse he's taken, his ban from the Ralph and the civil lawsuit he'll lose, but I don't see prison accomplishing anything here.

I made the same statements when this first came out and got flamed for it. Lost the job, publicly embarrassed, enormous legal fees, HUGE pending civil suit for which he will definitely be found guilty, and most likely bankruptcy in the near future.

Prison is too much here, especially for a first time offender. I think everything that's happened to this dude is significant enough to discourage other idiots, or at least you'd hope so!

  12. Well, they aren't "experts," but I thought I would point everyone to what they're discussing over at Fin Heaven. Apparently our DBs are suspect and all our women look like buffaloes!

There's also a group that would like to take over our stadium this week, even though another thread on Fin Heaven complained the crowd on Sunday was smaller than preseason!

  13. I heard that building is basically worthless. The way it is constructed prevents a modern wiring retrofit and the concrete is too thick and blocks wireless signals. People have looked into upgrades and they are impossible. This is why there are no tenants and the value has dropped by more than 75%.

I've heard that it would be a difficult and expensive retrofit/upgrade, but worthless? Not sure I've heard that. I'm not an expert on this building or its current status, but I think the assessed value was lowered to help make it more attractive to future buyers, since the current ownership entity is close to forclosure (or in it now).
