Seriously? You would have to drink a sh*t ton to come up like that. The only reason people do so is to mask something, try to clear the system out. If you buy that he's guzzling gallons of water to avoid the dehydration then I got some ocean front property in Montana for sale.
Not really. My ex wife missed out on a job because of a diluted sample and she was totally clean. "Failing" for that is bs.
I don't know, I would think a guy named H2o may have some expertise in this area.

Personal emotions about the writer aside, the article is just a list of the safer prospects universally expected to be first round picks under the heading of players he expects to be good. No kidding, so does everyone else. There's no new information or actual work there. He doesn't even go out on a limb and project what a player will be, only a possible ceiling. I could've written that article in under an hour. It's just a rah-rah fluff piece.
I have no skin in this game and found the article fairly interesting read, but as a counterpoint Albert Burneko did have a fairly scathing review earlier in the month related to Lombardi's review of QBs - http://deadspin.com/the-ringers-mike-lombardi-claims-seven-insights-into-go-1794051550.

I know. I always preface this situation with accepting responsibility that I effed up. With that said you are not the only one that was absolutely shocked to hear about the extensive involvement, in time, money and resources that homeland security spent on my situation with counterfeit jerseys. Who would have ever thought that the department that was formed to protect Americans from what happened on 9/11 would be policing intellectual property rights for a multibillion corporation, on their own dime. Once again, I made a mistake and learned from that mistake, but the entire experience was very eye opening.

Start the playclock as soon as they score.
You have that amount of time to 'celebrate' as you wish and get the K-team out for the XP.
Easy fix.
Every scoring play is reviewed now; you'd have to tweak or eliminate that too.

One of the curious arguments against his inclusion is the fact these reporters keep saying he was run out of town "at every stop." I can obviously see that being said in Philly (although it was contract related, I don't hold it against TO), but where the hell are they finding this argument that he was run out of Dallas? He still put up a good season in 2008, but he had a large cap hit from the massive contract he signed the year prior and was cut. By Vic's theory, almost every player that has been cut could be construed as "run out of town."
The guy was 35 years old, turning 36, when he was cut and signed with Buffalo. There are probably many Hall of Fame WRs who were probably on their second (or third) team by that time. This is clearly one of those cases where these HOF voters have reached their predetermined conclusion and are now grasping at flimsy arguments to fill their narrative.
Like Florio, I'm happy to see a voter come out and put pen to paper why they wouldn't vote for him, but that doesn't make it any less embarrassing.

He was terrific at UB but only had a brief stretch in the NFL where he showed that brilliance. But in his 7 year career he must have been on IR for 5. The guy is always injured.
Ironically him being injured as a rookie probably saved his career. GB lost all their RBs in a string of freak injuries when he was just ready to play, opening the door for him.
At least he's got a ring.
That seems high... I know he ended on IR last year and 2012, and you are correct his rookie year, but did he really have an injury prone label?
7 years for a 6th round pick from a minor program is pretty damn good. He is completely done, but he had a very good career all things considered.
I can't seem to recall another RB that was able to last as long while being a clear cut #2 on the same time - seven years is an unfathomly long time. Guess he got lucky with GB, who are loathe to get rid of their own draft picks.
But yeah, excellent career with everything listed above. He also made a little more than $8M in career earnings according to spotrac. What 30 year old wouldn't want to his second career with that type of nest egg???

Wow. Great find. If I were a college coach I would make every recruit read this. This part is crazy: Of the top 100 in 2007, 39 were eventually drafted into the NFL. Twenty are still in the league. Seven made the Pro Bowl. Four are dead
Honestly, I'm actually impressed that number is that high. Predicting what a 17-18 year will do / can be in 10 years, let alone 3-4, is crazy. I honestly thought the number would be lower, on both the drafted AND still in the league (most likely 5-7 years after being drafted). I'm also fascinated they didn't post the number of players that were signed or tried out for teams - I wonder if it's in the 50s or 60s?
The four deaths are sad beyond belief. That has to be higher than the any mortality metric for 17-18 year olds 10 years later.
Also forgot to mention - NCAA should be embarrassed with themselves that only a third of these guys actually obtained degrees. I understand with such a relatively high number (39) drafted, many of these guys left college with eligiblity and credits remaining on their degrees. I don't care, that's just such an absurdly low number.

That's a terrible value for Miami. Basically a 3rd and 4th rd pick for maxwell (and brutal contract) and Alonso, who is a FA after this season.
Holy crap, it could even worse than that, with Philly moving from 13th to 8th. In the Austin for Manuel/Alonso draft trade of 2013, the Rams moved up from 16th to 8th with the Bills swap and it cost them 2nd, 3rd and 7th round value (and in return our 3rd). Even the give or take from 13th to 16th and the 3rd round movement, you could make the argument that the draft value at stake here for Miami was around a second round pick rather than third...plus the 4th. Jeez...

Look at what they got those guys playing for. Gronkowski...Vollmer....Edelman...Chandler Jones....The string of F bombs I loosed made the dog bark at me. Incentivized roster bonuses, the works. I mean, they're paying Gronk $250k more than Scott Chandler this year. WTF?
Yeah, if you're looking at their base salary alone....however that's not how the NFL works, or for that matter, has worked since 1993. Gronk has a 2016 cap hit of 6.6 M due to amortized roster and workout bonuses. His contract and Chandler's isn't even close. He also has cap hits of 7/11/12 coming up the next three years.

Not true. In 2012, with two years remaining on his contract (a key bargaining chip), he signed a 6 year 54 M contract, the largest for a TE at the time. It was a big chunk of money to pay out to a TE back then (especially since they also paid Hernandez handsomely)> There were a ton of questions/criticism of the deal since he promptly ended up on injured reserve the next two seasons after signing (before his new contact even went into effect).
Gronk (and the Pats) have obviously proven their detractors wrong, since even only playing 80% of games he's still one of the most dominant offensive talents in the game. The deal turned into a bargain for the Pats.
I will say, on the original topic of hometown discount - Chandler Jones is in the last year of his rookie deal, and who knows if they'll let him walk.
Every team in the league had a shot at Edelman in 2013, and he resigned with the pats for vet minimum. He put up 1000 yards in 2014, and again every team in the league had a shot but he decided a few weeks into free agency to resign. For whatever reason, there wasn't much market for him.
Vollmer is the only guy on this list who I think legitimately can be considered a "hometown discount."

What blew my mind was not the silly scout report but the link to the 2010 article when Kroenke bought the team. I know he said a bunch of things to be able to buy the team, but these quotes are brutal:
"I'm going to attempt to do everything that I can to keep the Rams in St. Louis," Kroenke said in a phone interview Tuesday night. "Just as I did everything that I could to bring the team to St. Louis in 1995. I believe my actions speak for themselves."

Kroenke is bothered by the perception that he'd work against St. Louis, or that he'd scheme to move the Rams back to Los Angeles. He pointed to a life spent largely inside Missouri borders, and his base in Columbia, Mo. "I'm born and raised in Missouri," Kroenke said. "I've been a Missourian for 60 years. People in our state know me. People know I can be trusted. People know I am an honorable guy."
Kroenke mentioned that his mother-in-law, who is 86, attends every Rams home game as an enthusiastic fan. And she is accompanied to the games by her sister, who lives in the St. Louis area. Kroenke didn't finish the obvious point, but I'll finish it for him: Why would anyone believe he'd want to move the Rams away from beloved family members?

I've been talking this topic with friends for years, seems like a good time more than ever since, you know, he's unemployed. I think he's the best in the business when it comes to analysis, and he's razor sharp on cap/contract matters. I feel like in some ways his articles can get lazy, but I think that was more from not really having a strong editor the past couple months.
Either way, what would it cost Terry to put him In a mid-level training role? 100 grand a year?

A few things here:
I find Rich Cimini's headline very misleading. I think Marshall was responding to the way the "league metes out punishment," not the "reversal" by a federal judge. That title makes absolutely no sense and is no way backed up in any of the statements Marshall said. Check out other articles like this one and this one if you don't believe me. Also, Marshall's statements (and you could say DeSean Jackson and Lesean McCoy before him) may sound ridiculous, but these players are expressing a perception in the locker room. Marshall seemed to be the only one of the three to actually articulate it with some prodding from Adam Schien - "if Marshall's words reflected the opinion of black players, the league may have a perception problem within its labor force."
Guys, it's ESPN. They have been on a feminism, race track the last couple years. Nothing generates clicks and comments like SJW issues these days.
I'm not arguing or disputing your point, but did you really take the time to create an account and name it Storm Front? Do you even know what that stands for?

That is one of the worst spins I've ever seen in the media, sports or not. Never had a problem with Vic, but no freaking where in the article or in the quotes did Marcell say he "expects this to be his final season." He shook his head when asked if he could deal with "unhappiness" about the potential for franchising, but Jesus that is terrible spin.
I'm confident Marcell will be signed, whether we have to overpay or not. With the Giants trying to pre-emptively badmouth Eli as "greedy" for something he never said (even though he has the leverage), I'm sure Marcell's agent told him to set the tone early with negotiations. Maybe he took it a little overboard.
He comes off not so great here. Just saying.not sure if his agent advised him to start talking or what but it's a bad look.
Then again it worked for Rivers to talk sh*t about his FO.

I somehow miraculously qualified as "eligible" (in DC) last year even though I wasn't in the eligibility areas, and it looks like it rolls over to this year without going through the eligibility hoops again. I believe even if your address qualifies as eligible, it will still deny you if you don't have the same billing address. It makes absolutely no sense...
Either way, the service was pretty decent last year. I've got 110 mbps internet, and as long as I use an ethernet chord rather than wi-fi, the picture is pretty decent. A couple times a game the picture will bust down from 720p to 480p, but that seems to be the worst of it.
I do question the OP on the "chromecast" capability though. Unless they changed it this year, you need to use the old fashioned HDMI from the laptop if you buy the 199 package (you can pay like 60-70 more to get it on the xbox/playstation).
DTV/ATT/NFL needs to fix this nonsense ASAP. They're leaving way too much money on the table in my opinion, even if they believe they're protecting their "exclusive partnership."

So can you order the digital package this year without having them deem you worthy of giving them your money?
I live in an apartment building that does not allow dishes, but the building wasn't on the secret special list of addresses that could subscribe to the digital package via Xbox/laptop, etc. so instead of them getting my money they got nothing.
I think they've done the xbox/playstation things a few years back but last year was the first year they allowed laptop/mobile access as well for $199, provided you passed through their "eligibility" requirements. The website says they've expanded the number of locations available. Definitely check it out, its worth the money.
