  1. He didn't stand out to me one way or the other when I watched him at camp with the second-teamers. Which, for a late pick who didn't play a game last year, probably isn't so bad.
  2. I don't recall saying or writing that. I vaguely recall expressing the idea he might be trying to defuse the controversy by treating the situation as no big deal. But expectations for the season are entirely different. I sincerely doubt he ever would want to convey that he doesn't expect to perform well at left tackle.
  3. Finally. This thread was good for something.
  4. How about that? And there you have it. Yes, this is me taking it for a test drive.
  5. Another great (and humorous) example today at Jets camp. Nick Mangold and Kerry Rhodes got into a debate over who Madden 10 shortchanged the most on "throwing power" and staged a passing competition to prove it.
  6. I answered that over on the Madden thread. If I knew how to link to a certain post within a thread, I would. But I'm a certified moron.
  7. Not an assignment at all. This stuff generates page views and is HUGE among the players. They talk about it more than they talk about their cars (and that's a lot). One player is so ticked off at his rating, he's boycotting the game: http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nfcwest/0-9-399...er-ratings.html http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afcwest/0-3-224...en-ranking.html Most of the division bloggers did do something on it, but not all. My posts were a little more involved than others, but Mike Sando of the NFC West crunched the numbers hard. People who spend a lot of time in front of their computers (i.e. our audience) often are video-game enthusiasts. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nfcwest/0-9-354...e-NFC-West.html http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afcnorth/0-3-15...--analysis.html http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nfcnorth/0-12-4...-and-Bluer.html http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afcwest/0-3-246...ngs-are-in.html http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afcsouth/0-10-2...en-NFL-10-.html http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afcsouth/0-10-1...en-NFL-10-.html http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afcsouth/0-10-2...en-NFL-10-.html http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afcsouth/0-10-1...en-NFL-10-.html
  8. I must admit I liked the signing when it happened. I said it on the radio and my blog. I thought it was a good fit, a backup with starting experience whose presence wouldn't threaten the starter if there was turbulence (something the Bills haven't had for many, many years). But he hasn't shown much on the field in the practices I've seen.
  9. I have met Peter, and he's a great guy. Loves to talk hockey. I felt like a minor leaguer who'd been called to the majors when he mentioned one of my stories in a Monday Morning Quarterback column a while back. I'm also a big fan of his work because he's so plugged in. He's one of those reporters who can get anybody on the phone whenever he needs them. My top three writers would be tough to list because I concentrate on the AFC East so much that I have a tendency to miss a lot of great stuff from beat writers in other divisions. Way too often somebody will ask me something like "Hey, did you see that great feature on Matt Forte in the Chicago Tribune?" And I will have no clue that it even existed until I go looking for it.
  10. All-High Stadium. They made it look like he ran from there, through the trees on Bidwell and up the Albright-Knox steps. Suuuuuuuuuuuure, he did ...
  11. I agree with Vic. There were times I actually confused Ryan Fitzpatrick for Matt Baker in drills.
  12. Your buddy was correct. But while I probably did suggest that, the emphasis I was trying to make is that Wood is eager to sign and supposedly in the area, not necessarily that a deal is imminent. But I would suspect it's close.
  13. Just to make sure you're aware, that part was concocted, too. It might have been a surprise for Owens (maybe), but those people were invited to come down and be on TV. They didn't just happen to guess which flight Owens would be on.
  14. You're too kind, Thurman. Glad you liked it. It's probably worth mentioning that quote actually was the first thing out of his mouth during our long interview.
  15. Thanks. The commenters at the bottom of the blog don't seem to moved by it, but I thought he was a worthwhile topic. As for how he has looked, I would say he's done nothing to stand out either way. I didn't get to watch him too much today in pads because my attention was elsewhere, and I think it takes a more highly trained eye than mine to detect where he is just by watching footwork and drills at this stage of camp.
  16. What she said ... But here's the wrinkle. It's easy to say you're not interested in something that's unattainable. Once it's there for you to grab, you might start to think about it.

  18. Oh, one of THOSE. Never.
  19. Hi, I'm Tim Graham. And when I cover Bills practice, I use Bic ballpoint pens. You should, too!
  20. The only reason I asked is because I was getting bored with the "How's it going, Terrell?" questions. Five months of that gets old with no games -- not even pads being worn -- since he signed. I needed something to wake me up.
  21. I'm transcribing John McCargo tape. Nothing says "party" like that.
  22. I'll try not to wake you when I get up in the morning.
  23. He didn't stand a chance. I almost feel sorry for him. I probably should be fired, or at minimum, go to confession.
  24. You have to hope he doesn't dwell on days like today. I had fun watching from the perch this morning. Wish I could have done the same Saturday afternoon. Thanks for "having me over."
  25. Pushed? I asked what he thought of the Michael Vick situation. Nothing more. The words "ridiculous" and "kicking a dead horse" came out of T.O.'s mouth without another question being asked.
